Two Nova Scotians' trip in Orlando - Day 5 : Dixie Landings

Me and my fiancee had spent the previous 4 days on I-drive and doing the IOA/USF/SW bit. November 11th was our fifth day there, and the first day we were going to spend on Disney property.

We took a cab from the Wyndham I-drive to Dixie landings. Our room wasn't ready yet, so we dropped off our bags and took the bus to Downtown Disney. The Festival of the Masters was taking place, and DD seemed fairly busy. I overheard one of the artists say she made $1500 over a period of an afternoon. I'm sure others there were making a similar profit.

There were food stands there selling items from the various restaurants in DD, but they seemed way too pricey. After roaming around for a bit we found out our room was ready. It was in Alligator Bayou 17 (we had requested 14,15, or 18). So back to DxL we went and went to our room. Unfortunately our bags took another hour to get to our room, but what can you do.

After unpacking and resting a bit, we went right to MGM for the evening. This is the first time we tried the FastPass system, and used it for the Tower of Terror, which was great. We had been on the ride last year, and even though you know what is going to happen, it is still quite thrilling. I sat in the centre seat that only has the lap belt, and no bar. This is something that everyone should try because you can get a lot of air when the elevator drops.

By that time it was 5:30 so we decided to get in line for Fantasmic. We were one of the first ones in and got our seats at one of the back rows, in the centre. The wait for the show to start was quite painful, and if I did it again, I wouldn't line up so early and be happy with a seat to the sides which I think are just as good.

The show was great! It was the first time we had seen it. We were able to hit the exit before most of the crowd so it didn't take us long to get out. We headed right to the Rock'n Roller coaster where there was a pretty long line. Fortunately, a woman handed us her two FastPasses just out of the blue, and we were happy to take them. The ride is a lot of fun - I found the initial take off was more thrilling than the start of the Hulk.

There was still 15 minutes before the park closed so we went back to ToT. Once again, another woman gave us her two Fastpasses, which of course we accepted. On we went, and got on the ride without a wait. By the time we got off, there was still 5 minutes left before closing, so we ran back to the entrance, where there was no line in the regular queue and ran into the library. The bellboy jumped out at us and scared the living *&*& out of us as we ran in. Anyway, we got on the ride, and even for the third time in an evening, it was still great.

AFter that, the park was closing, so we walked around the stores a bit, took some pictures and headed for the exit. On the way out we heard a bit of the Soap Stars Festival going on, but we had no interest in that. We caught the bus back to DxL, got a bite and then were in bed by 10:30.

Next day : MGM studios again, Epcot

Sounds like luck was following you today! That Disney magic is something else isnt it!
