I have enough points to cover flights for 3 trips so thats not an issue there. Wifey wants to break up the trip into two 7 day trips instead of one long 14 day trip. She was thinking Universal 2 days and cruise then go back in December for a 7 day stay at Christmas.

The alternate scenario is combining both of them

What would you do and why?

Well, we prefer the "all at once" option. Mostly because of the flight costs from the west coast. Since that's not an issue for you, either one works.

I would choose the two medium trips. I think the two trips separately would help keep you from getting too tired on one big trip.

We have not been able to take a 14 night cruise yet, but we really like taking a couple of 7 night cruises a year. It typically works out to sail every 4 to 6 months if timing is right. Sometimes we take two 7 night cruises and throw in a 4 night cruise. :) It depends on how stressed out my husband is.

I have found that we like the 7 night cruises most though because it is just long enough to do what you really want to and still feel like you got away somewhere. We never say, "wow, I wish we had a vacation from our vacation" because we are rested and relaxed when we come home. :)

Have a great cruise (or two) :)

I vote 2 trips. It's hard for me to go more than 3 or 4 months without a vacation. I get 5 weeks a year. Even if I have to use one of my vacation weeks as a staycation. I just need a break every few months.

DCL/universal is the best trip ever! We are planning our 3rd. Just do yourself a favor and stay deluxe. We tried to save a little $ and downgraded to Cabana Bay last week and what a downgrade it was! I have a thread in the universal hotels forum that describes the issues as we had heard only good things before booking. But for sure 2 vacations would be ideal!

I prefer the deluxe hotels, but we actually liked Cabana Bay. I was pleasantly surprised. Its is so much nicer than the WDW value resorts. Hard rock is our favorite.

I noticed they are not keeping up with the overall cleaning of the resort (garbage piles along the lazy river, blood smears on cushions in the lobby, the night before's chicken dinners all over the breakfast area) lately whereas those that have been in the past have nothing but good things to say, so I believe you! It must have been great! I have detailed reporting in a Uni thread.

That's too bad. It's been about a year and half since we stayed there.

I'm the same way, I need "my next vacation" to day dream about in order to help cope with my vacation being over so I vote two trips
