I see a lot of you have two homes. Ideally, we would have one east coast and one west coast (when/if it happens). How does this work? Can you use all your points at one? And if you do, do you book half the stay at 11 months and the rest of the stay at 7 months? I am just confused.

Thanks!

(P.S. you guys are great! Other boards I have posted questions on have gone unanswered completely, and that never happens here!)

Points always retain their home resort/other resort booking rules. Thus, if you own at two and want to stay at one using both sets of points, you can reserve part of the trip at 11 months out with applicable home resort points and then rest at 7 months out with other points, and then just have Member Services link the two ressies so you do not have to change rooms.

If you own at more than one DVC resort, you cannot book a reservation using both contracts at the 11 month window. You can only book a home resort using that resort's points.

Yes, at the 7 month window you can book using either contract.

We have contracts at two resorts and do this. We bank the points from one contract giving us two years to work with next year. We borrow points from the other contract giving us two years of points to work with this year. That way, we use two years worth of points at the 11 month booking window every year and don't wait until the 7 month mark unless we want to stay at a non-home resort completely.

Make sense? The above scenarios really only makes sense if the contracts are roughly equivalent in points so you can alternate staying at each resort.

This is what we plan on doing (if/when) a DVC is announced at DLR. We would go to WDW in fall, winter, or Spring, and then go to DLR in the summer.

Summers in Southern California are glorious! Warm, but with low humidity, averaging in the low to mid 80's.

Let people swelter in the summer at WDW. I will be kicking back at DLR.

I grew up in So Cal, and have family there. It is great... and would be nice to be able to say we are staying at "home" instead of at relatives houses. ;)

We do exactly like Granny. We have two smaller point contracts that get us a week at those resorts every two or three years. We borrow from next year and use any banked points (usually not many) and get as many days as we can with the 200+ points (we have two 100 point contracts - one at VWL, one at BCV). Then our larger contract gets us the rest of the time - or we use it to add at 7 months.
