our friends are coming with us this year and I have no idea how to handle FP and ADRs for the days we are together. Any advice? CRT is the most important ADR for us, it will be 8 people. We won't be staying on site for most of the days so let me know if that matters.

You can either make one MDE account and make all the arrangements for everyone through that OR one or more adult in each group have their own MDE account. In your MDE you'd go to the Friends and Zfamily section and "invite to plan and share" with the other adult(s). This causes them to receive an email that they accept.

Now you can make all your FPs together - when you got to the FP screens, everyone in your group will be listed there and you can make selections for one or all.

For ADRs, you don't even need to have the MDE friends set up yet. You can just call or go online and make reservations for the number of people you want. Once you do have the MDE accounts set up, though, you can list each person on the ADRs so that everyone is able to see the reservation info and confirmation numbers.

I don't think it matters that you're offsite. If you are onsite for a portion, though, that info will also show in your MDE accounts.

ADR's are easy, you just decide which person will make the actual reservation and include the correct number of people. The best thing to do is make sure everyone has a My Disney Experience account and link them together as people who can share plans and plan for each other, then one of you will be able to make FP+ for the whole group. Whether you are onsite or not only matters for how far ahead you can make the FP+ reservation, 30 days for offsite or 60 for onsite days. Each person who will have a FP+ needs to have a linked ticket before you can make FP+ for them.

Whether you have everyone listed in one MDE, or, MDE accounts linked together, your FP booking window will be based on your onsite stay.

mesaboy2 has listed Split Stay info and how it affects the 60-day booking window. You can find what applies to your situation here:
