Hi all....

We'd been saving up our DVC points to cruise on the Magic next year, and with an impending move across the state of Washington....we've held out too long and now DCL has no staterooms avail for DVC points usage until next October....we were hoping to cruise in February. (See associated threads for more info.)

SO- question. If we wanted to search for a Dec ressie at a DVC resort at WDW for the holidays....will we be able to book now, within the "last 3 mos of our Dec UY" even though we're looking for a DVC resort?

Next question. We banked all of our points for this year for that 2011 Magic cruise that won't be happening. Can I BORROW from 2011's points to book now for December?

HELP! We bought in Feb of 2008 and I still just can't get the hang of some of this stuff! :confused3

The answer to your 2 questions are both yes. I'm on my phone so I will leave the details to others. You can't borrow the banked 2010 points though only the 2011 ones.

So....what exactly does the "not in the last three months of your use year" apply to??

The rule of four means that you can not book AND stay at a non-DVC resort, cruise, Adventures by Disney, concierge collection, or Buena Vista Trading collection during the last 4 months of your use year, nor can you bank during the last 4 months.

You can stay at non-DVC resorts and any of the other venues on points during the last 4 months, but you have to have the reservation made before then.

It does not apply at all to DVC resorts. You can book and stay at DVC resorts any time, based upon availability, as long as you have the points.

I'm not sure about the days closest to Christmas and New Years, but my guess is that you could find something somewhere using DVC points.

Don't hold your breath for WL, BC, BW.
