Okay, okay... ;) Sorry it took so long, I've been working on our website mainly and neglecting the boards.

Day Four - Wednesday, October 25, 2006 - continued

While eating, I pulled out the PassPorter and we went over the "must ride" rides. I probably commented about 12 times on how there was a ride inside the Epcot sphere because that is where we headed next-Spaceship Earth. Today truly was shaping up to be a Techy-Geek day. Spaceship Earth is all about technology, so of course, we loved it!

We wandered around Epcot for quite a while, taking pictures and commenting to each other about how cool it was. We headed over to The Land, we grabbed a Fast Pass for Soarin’ and noticed the wait for Living with the Land was 5 minutes, so while we couldn't remember what it was-we decided to go for it. We both liked it a lot and even decided if we had time later we wanted to ride it again.

honeymoon _238_.jpg

Our Fast Pass time still wasn't up for Soarin’, so we went up around to the World Showcase, this time we started in Canada-but hit Honey I Shrunk the Audience first. We stopped here and there, took random pictures, looked at various shops. At one point, I noticed a man who looked so much like the New York state director of the ministry I used to work for (and he and his wife are good friends of mine) I grabbed Joe and pointed him out. However, I thought it wasn't him because I heard a British accent come from his mouth (or so I thought!). Then his wife came around the corner and I about fainted. I grabbed Joe again and couldn't believe two people could look SO much like them! We ran in front of them, I turned around and took a picture so I could prove it to them later,

honeymoon _246_.jpg

And that's when I realized, they weren't speaking with a British accent at all! There were tons of British folks there that week, so I must have overheard someone else and thought it was them. They walked right past us without noticing my gaping jaw, so we got behind them. I waited until the wife was off her cell phone and sort of quietly, yet not too quietly I walked right behind her and said "Angela?" She spun around and was SHOCKED to see me!!! We all hugged and Joe finally had the opportunity to meet these wonderful people I spoke of all the time. He had never met them while I lived in New York, during his trips out to visit me. So it was really great. And they were so excited to see me and meet him and couldn't believe we ran into each other, what are the odds?!

After a while we said our good-byes and Joe and I ended up in America, and saw that the American Adventure Show was just about to start, so we went in and watched it-it was pretty neat-and a nice break for our feet!

Our Fast Pass time for Soarin’ was almost arriving, so we kept going around the World Showcase, stopping occasionally to shoot a picture and explore a bit.

honeymoon _257_.jpg

honeymoon _261_.jpg

We made it over to The Land again, went to Soarin' and zipped through the line. We both loved it! After leaving Soarin' we noticed Mickey was at a restaurant near by, we debated on stopping and trying to get his attention, but opted to settle for a quick picture of him with strangers and kept on truckin'.

honeymoon _265_.jpg

We headed over to Innoventions, realizing that while we were in there earlier for the Segway tours, we never really looked around. We checked out a few things and by the time we were at the other end of the building I had decided the very cute bride and groom ears we saw on the couple at the Segway tour were too cute for us not to have. I was on a mission! Thankfully, the first shop we went in, Mouse Gear, had them! At the checkout, we were Congratulated and asked if Mickey had called us. Recalling the wake-up call I mentioned that and the cashier said we should have gotten a different call, so she called Mickey up and had me listen, then Joe listen.

honeymoon _269_.jpg

After purchasing the ears we decided to head over to Fast Track. We had tried for a Fast Pass earlier in the day, but their machines weren't working. We hoped for a short line-and got one! What a cool ride!

We then walked over to the Universe of Energy and walked right in on the beginning of Ellen's Energy Adventure. We wandered around a bit more, hit Club Cool, then realized we hadn't gone into The Seas! We LOVED the front entrance,

honeymoon _285_.jpg

honeymoon _286_.jpg

We rode The Seas with Nemo & Friends and rode in the clam-mobiles, it was a very cute ride. After, we HAD to pose for the picture in the sharks mouth!

honeymoon _288_.jpg

By this time, it was fairly dark and we knew we had to grab a spot for IllumiNations. Out came the PassPorter book again, we realized a good spot was near Germany, so that is where we headed. On the way, we were called over to a stand in Turkey. There was a guy doing clarigify writing-he'd write your family name or whatever you would like on this pretty paper and you could buy it for $10. He asked when our wedding date was (he had seen the bride and top hat ears from across the crowd!), and what our names were. He then proceeded to write us two different pieces. They were beautiful, and I figured this guy would give us a discount or something-and I would have purchased one, but instead he gave them both to us! It was his gift to us!

After we thanked him we continued on our way to Germany. There were only a couple other people sitting there already, so we had our choice of prime seats. We staked our spot and then talked foooooooood.

We realized by this time we had messed up a bit on our food plan. I didn't realize you didn't get three meals on the day you arrive and the day you leave, so because we had eaten at Artist's Point (2 table meals) and we would want a meal on our last day, and we had meals on our first day, we were a meal short. We were booked for the Kona Cafe that night, and earlier in the day, when we realized we were a meal short, and wanted to stay at Epcot, I cancelled our dinner reservations. So, we opted to buy a quick meal at Sommerfest. I went and grabbed the food while Joe stayed and saved our spot, I came back with the food-unsure if you are really allowed to take the trays...and we sat on the sidewalk and chowed down on some good brats and kraut. After, I returned the tray and we waited for a few minutes before IllumiNations started.

IllumiNations (which I didn't get any pictures of! :confused3 ) was pretty cool. I thought it could use a little more pizzazz, the globe just turned for a really long time and you couldn't see the pictures on the globe very clearly due to the globe being in the middle of the water; however, the fireworks at the end were very impressive! I just love fireworks and I was really glad we stayed to watch these-especially knowing we wouldn't get to see the ones at the Magic Kingdom.

After IllumiNations we headed back toward the gate, we took it slow and easy, but there wasn't a big rush overall to get out. We did end up waiting a little while for a bus, and when it came it filled up before we got on, but another was almost directly behind it.

We headed back 'home' to AKL and off to sleep we went!

[magic kingdom day next!]

I'm enjoying your trip report and the pictures, too! Thanks for sharing them! :thumbsup2

Great pictures and can't wait for the MK day!

As for Illuminations I enjoy it but my hear still belongs with the original that they had on the late 80's and early 90's. They used more lasers and the music was great! They also introduced each country in their native language and the country would then light up. I still have the original music from the CD we bought in the early 90's or so.

P.S. Do you have more info and pictures on your website from the trip?

Oooh, that sounds awesome about IllumiNations! I wish I could have seen it.

I do have ALL my pictures up on our website, but the info is lacking a bit yet, I'm slowly working on that along with pictures from our trip to Israel. If you want to check it out... www.joeandbrook.com/gallery The WDW are the obvious choice of "Our Honeymoon in Walt Disney World" :) There are 530 pictures I think...and you can click into each thumbnail for more info and a bigger pic.

Thanks for the link. You two took some great pictures and looked like you had a blast! I really liked the pool view pictures at night. It is so wierd to see how "empty" the pool was in some of the pictures. The first time I went to AKL it was Aug and the pool would still be pretty full at 11 pm and the same this past June. Was it warm enough to swim when you went? We will be there earlier in Oct...DFi is like a little fish, he loves to go swimming.

No problem on the pics! :thumbsup2 I'll have more report coming soon-along with more pics for those that didn't browse through the 500... :teeth:

We did have a blast, it was an INCREDIBLE week, we had so much fun. I cannot wait to go back!!!!!! We want to either bring another couple with us and rent a cabin at Fort Wilderness or stay at the Boardwalk. But, I will have to go back and visit the AKL, to bring back all the memories...sigh...

Okay, Christmas is over, my life is finally beginning to look like it might slow down... and since my entire team is REQUIRED to be at work today, and I've been here for 2.5 hours without ONE single call, it looks like I will have some free time to FINALLY write my Magic Kingdom day!!!

I know it's a little late, but congratulations on your marriage! :yay:
Really enjoying the trippie! :dance3:

Finally, an update!

Day Five - Thursday, October 26, 2006

Joe and I once again took advantage of sleeping in and got a fairly late start-but we certainly didn't mind! After all, what is vacation without actually catching up on sleep? ;) Also, Joe had convinced himself a while before our honeymoon that Magic Kingdom would be his least favorite because it was more "kid orientated". :confused3 Naturally he was picturing the Dumbo ride, It's A Small World, etc. I tried to convince him that from what I had read on the DIS boards, MK was a favorite among ALL age groups, but he kept his position...(which would be demolished, as expected, by days-end!)

After grabbing some breakfast at the Mara-more coffee for yours truly-we headed out to the bus stop. The bus once again came within a matter of a few minutes. In front of Magic Kingdom we saw a PhotoPass photographer, and had them take one with their camera and a few with ours. And we did a couple of our own shots near the Walt Disney/Mickey statue.

honeymoon%20_294_.jpg

Then we headed into the gates and marveled at Main Street. Though I don't currently use it, my degree is in City Planning-and I have a sincere passion for architecture. It was kinda neat to finally see Main Street having seen slides of it in my architecture classes. Yes, we actually had a several day discussion on Disney, and naturally that flowed into Celebration. Joe and I wished we had time on this trip to visit Celebration, he knows I would just FREAK with excitement going there...but we didn't. Guess we'll have to go to Disney again... :cutie:

Here is a fun shot of a massive amount of balloons for sale on Mainstreet

honeymoon%20_297_.jpg

Anyway, we walked down mainstreet and once again got a few pictures taken, this time in front of the Cinderella castle. Unfortunatly, there was a giant crane on the right side of the castle, so the picture didn't turn out quite as 'magical' as we hoped.

honeymoon%20_299_.jpg

We continued walking on and then saw to the right "Tomorrowland", oh yes, this is perfect for two techy-freaks!

Onward we went! We walked around a bit and debated on a few rides, but ended up at Space Mountain. We LOVED it and still both say this was one of our favorite rides of the entire trip.

honeymoon%20_304_.jpg

Continuing on in Tomorrowland we hit Astro Orbiter and crammed ourselves into one of the little space ships.

honeymoon%20_307_.jpg

As we spun around, I snapped a couple pictures-here is one of the Castle!

honeymoon%20_310_.jpg

We both agreed-this ride looks cooler than it actually is. But, it was pretty neat to get such a great view from way up there.

We decided to head out of Tomorrowland, check out the Castle and then walk around, looking for a good place to eat. As we walked into Frontierland I noticed Pecos Bill and remembered this name from the DIS Boards, we checked out the menu and thought it sounded great. I opted for the Chicken Wrap and Joe got the BBQ Pork Sandwich. In addition to this came french fries for both of us, baked beans for Joe, and two Peanut Butter Brownie Mousse's-not to mention one soda and one water! This was a very good deal, TONS of very tasty food for a counter service meal.

While eating just outside the resturant on one of their tables, I noticed a bird behind us in a sort of garden. The bird looked like he was just waiting for us to get up and leave behind some crumbs for him, so I thought I would see if he would eat some chicken. I pulled a piece out of my wrap and before I could even blink, the bird had taken it right out of my hand. Yes, this bird will eat bird. He also enjoyed french fries, but wasn't a fan of lettuce.

[more coming soon!]

Day Five - Thursday, October 26, 2006, continued

By the time our meal ended, we were both so full we gave one of our desserts away to the table next to us. We barely ate off the other one. We went through the PassPorter and decided to ride Pirates of the Caribbean since it was so close.

I was pretty excited for this ride-hearing so much about it. And never seeing either movie ( ), it wasn't all that thrilling for me, but the people behind us in the boat were obviously Disney and Pirates regulars, they kept commenting about how much the ride had changed and how cool it was. Overall, not too exciting, but still pretty neat.

After Pirates we got in line for Splash Mountain. The line wasn't too long-but one of the longest we'd had on our trip. About 10 minutes into it, we found out the ride had broken. We asked the obviously Disney-savvy people in front of us how long it usually takes to fix, and they said they have waited just a few minutes on a broken ride and up to an hour. We opted to wait for a few minutes, then changed our mind and headed out of line. We grabbed a Fast Pass for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad-a ride I have been waiting since the age of 6 to ride on, seeing it on EVERY Disney commercial as a child...

Then we walked a bit and ended up in Fantasyland. I dragged Joe onto It's a Small World-we sang along and agreed it was totally cheesy, but just something you had to do as a Disney Newbie.

We walked toward the Castle again, just to see it up close again,

honeymoon%20_330_.jpg

and noticed huge crowds gathering for the parade. Neither one of us cared much to watch the parade and wandered around through the crowd, back into Frontierland, our Fast Pass time for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad was coming up. We decided to stop for a snack at a stand near the Castle-just into Liberty Square-"Sleepy Hollow". They have CAPPUCCINO FLOATS. :woohoo: :cool1: Oh yes, this was a winner! We got up to the window and the woman working the cash register noticed our "Just Married!" buttons and instantly asked all the typical questions of where, when, etc. followed by a "2 Cappuccino Floats? Is that all? Hey everyone, these two just got married 2 Cappuccino Floats on the house!" Everyone behind the counter cheered and wished us a Congratulations and we were promptly served two delicious floats. We thanked them and went on our way, commenting about how amazing each day of our trip has been.

We walked on the little path along the river in Frontierland while the parade went on, dodging people, enjoying our floats, headed for Big Thunder. Despite having Fast Passes, the line was fairly long and they allowed many non-Fast Pass people in before they moved the Fast Pass line, didn't understand that, but I wasn't going to let it bother me, I was close to riding THE ride I had been waiting for!! We finally reached the front and away we went!

honeymoon%20_333_.jpg

honeymoon%20_339_.jpg

We both loved this ride and hoped we could ride again later. We grabbed a FastPass for Splash Mountain, and then took out the PassPorter book, looking for a quick route back to Tomorrowland to burn up our time, knowing we didn't go on a couple rides we wanted to hit. Up walked a CM, who gave us a hint-to take the WDW Railroad to Toontown and then take a path that is directly to the left when getting off the train into Tomorrowland. So, we headed to the train, one pulled up within a couple minutes and off we went. The path trick worked great, there was NO one on the path except one worker, who appeared to be carrying his lunch bag and taking off on his break. :cheer2:

We arrived back in Tomorrowland and rode Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin. We got such a kick out of this ride and Joe KICKED my butt score-wise. He hit some Zurg that gave him 100,000 points instantly! I wish I had taken a picture of the picture it snaps of you because I was so into it and concentrated I was biting on my lip and Joe looked incredibly serious, both of us were leaning forward in the car zapping Zurg! :rotfl2:

We are Space Rangers!
honeymoon%20_341_.jpg

honeymoon%20_342_.jpg

While over in Tomorrowland we also rode Stitch's Great Escape, which I didn't think was anything spectacular, especially in comparison to everything else we had seen already. We also went on the Carousel of Progress. And just the other day, over two months later, I heard Joe singing "There's a great big beautiful tomorrow...." We both thought it was a pretty cool ride, very interesting and entertaining.

Our FastPass time for Splash Mountain was arriving, so we got back on the WDW Railroad and went back the way we came. We went through the line fairly quickly. At the very end of the ride our boat ran into the one in front of us, and there we floated for about five minutes. We figured something must have gotten stuck further down the line. I took the opportunity to snap a picture...

honeymoon%20_344_.jpg

We both liked Splash Mountain and were VERY relieved we didn't get soaked.

By this time, we had hit most of the rides we wanted to over in this area, but we wanted to check out Tom Sawyer Island. So, onto the raft we went. We hit the trails, wandered through the caves and realized there really isn't a whole lot on the island to do. We didn't really think it was anything thrilling, but thought it might be pretty cool for a kid to "explore" the caves and such. It was also about this time, I realized that we had made EARLY dinner reservations for that day. Neither one of us were hungry, and we weren't ready to leave quite yet, so we opted to cancel them and schedule them for later.

After Tom Sawyer Island we wandered back to Fantasyland. I INSISTED we ride the Teacups.

honeymoon%20_349_.jpg

honeymoon%20_351_.jpg

Then of course, I INSISTED we ride Dumbo!

The Castle from Dumbo:
honeymoon%20_355_.jpg

The Dumbo behind us:
honeymoon%20_356_.jpg

We walked past the Castle again, and noticed a HUGE show going on-looked like all the Princesses were up on stage. I don't know much about the shows, and we were mainly there to do rides-not really into the characters, so we kept on truckin.

honeymoon%20_357_.jpg

We headed back to Tomorrowland (AGAIN) because I wanted to ride Tomorrowland Transit Authority. By this time we noticed MANY people in costumes and then I recalled Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. I thought it was kinda fun, and we saw some very clever costumes. But, when we reached the TTA, we were denied access because we didn't have the MNSSHP bracelets! I had NO clue you had to buy bracelets for it being a Disney Newbie (guess I didn't read the DIS boards too closely on that one! :headache: ). Both Joe and I were very disappointed, but we figured we were about done anyway, so we slowly turned and started our trek back to the front gates.

We stopped and got another picture done in front of the Castle, because it looked so different with the colored lights on it. And then we stopped again in a shop near the front gates where we could look at our PhotoPass pictures. We spent just a bit of time in there, and then headed out of the Magic Kingdom.

Since we weren't quite done with our rides yet, and our dinner time hadn't arrived, we opted to ride the Monorail and check out some other resorts.

We stopped at the Grand Floridian, I told Joe it was the fancy-schmancy hotel and probably just a bit much for my taste. We wandered around and thought it was very pretty (but we like the AKL pool WAY better!).

We waited at the GF bus-stop for a Downtown Disney bus since we were headed to Cap'n Jacks for dinner. A bus arrived almost instantly, we hopped on and soon arrived in Downtown Disney.

Earlier in the year, when I had told a friend Joe and I were planning on WDW for our honeymoon she told me her Grandma worked in Downtown Disney at the big mall in the "Villan"/jewelery room. I had NO clue what this all meant, but Joe and I were determined to not only find this mall, but to find the Villan room. It proved easy enough to find the giant Disney mall, but there were, I swear, 40,000 people in there, running around and shopping. Turns out, they were having some sort of game, right there in the store! Pretty funny...

Eventually we were pointed in the right direction, we found the Villan room. I approached the counter and asked for Fernetta. She was in a meeting, but the CM was so incredibly kind she found out when the meeting ended and encouraged us to come back. She told us she worked until 2:00 AM! I couldn't believe it, we had PLENTY of time.

So off to Cap'n Jacks we went, we were a bit early for our reservations, but we didn't mind waiting. When we arrived at the restaurant we were informed their menus had recently changed-they no longer had steak or a couple of the other items we were both interested in having. Most items were now fish, which neither of us are a fan of. We were slightly disappointed, but we did see one non-fish entree, so we opted to stay. We were given a GREAT table, right on the lake, very quickly-at least 10 minutes before our actual reservation time.

Our server was fantastic, she was funny and suggested different menu items, you could tell she was a pro-waitress. She also loved that we were on the Magic Your Way Dining Plan, she thought it was one of the greatest things Disney ever came up with and it really allowed the guests to get WHATEVER they wanted, which I agreed to, we loved it.

Joe and I both had a beef meal with mashed potatoes and green beans, I cannot remember exactly what it was, it was alright-though Joe's was very fatty. I cannot remember what our appetizers were either, and didn't take a picture of them! However, one thing on the dining plan was that you could add a lobster tail to any meal for no additional cost-our waitress encouraged us to take advantage of it-after all, it was a free add-on! Joe didn't dare try, so I took his too. I didn't really care for them, so I only ate a few bites of one of them.

Then dessert time came and we both chose the Berried Treasure Smoothie-which technically isn't a "dessert", but she allowed us to use it as our dessert since none of the others really interested us.

Overall, we liked the atmosphere of Cap'n Jacks, right on the water-it was very pretty. And our waitress was awesome, but the food was only okay, and selection was not good for a non-fish eater. Out of all the places we ate on the trip, this was my least favorite.

honeymoon%20_370_.jpg

After dinner, we walked back to the mall to find Fernetta. We got back to the Villan room, and then found out from another CM that she was actually working in a different department that night. The CM went to find her for us, she was gone for about 5 to 10 minutes before returning with Fernetta. I thought it was very very nice of the CM to go hunt her down for us, the LAST thing I wanted to do in that crazy mall was to try and find a woman that I had never met...!

honeymoon%20_373_.jpg

Fernetta was incredible, just like her Granddaughter! We had a great time chatting with her. She was so amazed we made such an effort to meet her.

After saying good-bye to Fernetta, we walked around Downtown Disney a bit, commented on how we have to try the Earl of Sandwich next time, it looked AWESOME. We boarded the bus and arrived back at AKL.

When we got back to our room we found TOWEL ANIMALS! Very cute little bunnies!

honeymoon%20_381_.jpg

We wandered around the AKL, really checking out the entire hotel that night, and also took a nice quick trip the hot tub. Soon though, we found ourselves exhausted and back to the room we went...once again, no alarm set for our next, and last full day at MGM.

[MGM coming soon!]

I am loving your trip report. My hubby and I got married in August- 10 days before I started nursing school so we really didnt have time to take a Honeymoon. Instead we opted for a mini-moon at Disneyland. We are leaving for WDW in 9 days- our "official" honeymoon and 1st time there. I have always dreamed of going there and I am really enjoying your trip report as a honeymooner and 1st timer as well! Keep on writing- cant wait for more!

:wave2: Brookelizabeth,

I'm enjoying reading your Disneymoon trippie. I love reading about WDW through a newbie's point of view! :thumbsup2

My friend is going to be having a Disneymoon too next month, I'll make sure the newlyweds get those "Just Married" buttons so she can have people congratulate her as well! We (the bridal party) bought her the bride ears so she already has those and she will purchase the groom ears when she gets there for her new husband. :goodvibes How fun!

Thanks again, can't wait for more! :goodvibes
