Two different experiences on the Simpsons ride

We just got back from a great memorial day weekend trip and ended up riding the Simpsons twice.
The first time was great. We were felt completely surrounded by the screen and even looking straight up, all we could see was the show. In the beginning, when you go up the elevator shaft (or whatever it is), it felt totally realistic and felt like we were going straight up.
The second time we rode was a big disappointment. We were further back from the screen, we could easily see the edges of the screen and another car over to the side of us. This totally ruined the feeling of immersion in the ride and was a big letdown after the first ride.

Does anyone know how this ride is setup? Are there multiple cars for every screen? On the first ride, we weren't aware of any other cars around us, but maybe we just couldn't see them. I'm not sure, I just know that the first ride was 10 times better than the second.

The ride has multiple vehicles in a row, and on different levels above and below whilst you all watch the same screen. We had exactly the same experience as you. First time we rode was in the centre and middle row, in the front seats so the experience was amazing. Second time we had the end of the screen, as well as being in the back of the kart with peoples heads in front of us. Just the luck of the draw I'm afraid, but just try and make sure that when you're placed in the final boxy pre-show room (where Homer does the joke about waiting so long that he's gonna ride anyway) that you're near the door to go through, so you can bag the front seats quickly.
Great ride either way though! :thumbsup2

I have the same experience at Soarin'. I hate looking at the other flight vehicles at Soarin or the feet dangling. I usually wait on Soarin' for the middle vehicle and row one. I'm not sure if you could wait for a certain car on Simpsons though. Not only that, but I don't know what level or what car I should ask for.

Alright, here is the explanation of the ride. I hope to make this very clear.

There are 2 seperate theatres (domes).

There are three levels.

Level 1 has a total of 6 cars (3 per dome).
Lever 2 has a total of 10 cars (5 per dome).
Level 3 has a total of 8 cars (4 per dome).

So what do I ask for for optimal seating?

We're new to US/IOA- I know on Soarin' to ask to be seated in B1.

TIA.

I feel the same way too...I hate seeing feet dangling in front of me.

Yup the first time we rode it we were on the 2nd level I think and I was on the left side of the car in the back. I could see lights or something up to the right & above me. I hated it :\

2nd time though, I couldnt see anything but the screen.

I guess we lucked out. Both times we rode I never saw anything but the screen. In the past, there were times when I saw the other cars in BTTF so I know how that spoils the effect.

For some reason, the dangling feet on Soarin' don't really bother me. I'm probably always too busy scrutinizing the screen to spot some new detail.

I am the same way with Soarin...never really noticed the feet (unless I looked real hard). I love that ride and was totally engrossed with it. Thanks for tips on the Simpson ride. Counting down to less than a month..I can't wait. In fact, I told my family that the Simpson ride is a new one and a one that we must do!

:goodvibes
