Two Delicious Birthdays-Version 2011-10 Days of Yum 5/5-5/14 - Tutto / Yak n Yeti!

You just got my hubby excited about Rose and Crown! I threw that one in the mix for Oct since we have never eaten there before and he was leery about it but when he saw the dried meat he was hooked...that is how he likes it too!

You'll like it! I like everything on the side and I'll decide if it needs sauce/gravy or not, lol. I normally don't use it. It was a very laid back meal... can't wait to try it for dinner!

We strolled thru the World Showcase with the Bellini, and we made it over to France. We made some new dis-friends over Grey Goose and Grand Marnier slushies :) We were there for a bit, and before parting ways we stopped into Boulangerie Patisserie for a snack. I got a chocolate mousse, and it was really good :) We wanted to get back and settle into our room during the hot part of the day. We made it back and our room was 2 rooms from the elevator!! So close to the lobby and very exciting!! We settled into the beautiful 1-Bedroom and there were 4 giraffes out our window waiting for us!! It was pretty hot when we were in Epcot, and I discovered I had a pretty bad sunburn.

We had the Captain's Grille scheduled for that night which is one of my top faves! I always get the crab cake and crab legs there. Unfortunately, I had the best, most meaty crab cake of my life the night before and crab just didn't sound good. I didn't want steak either... I just had an amazing steak and I just wanted something else. We had chinese and mexican already planned... I KNOW! I wanted spaghetti. Dave was in a whatever mood, so I called reservations and got us Tutto Italia. This would be new for us.

We made it to our reservation, the hostess took note of my Italian last name and we chatted for a moment about it. My father's side that raised me is 100%. We ordered Iced Teas, they have a tropical taste to them... not sure what it was, but we liked it. We munched on the bread options:

I ordered the child's mozzerella balls because I saw a picture and they looked good. Beware it's fresh mozzerella, and not your typical cheese stick cheese. Because of this... I wasn't a fan--I eat like a 4 year old.

He got calimari. This is his 2nd try at calimari, his first was in November at Mama Melrose. He didn't love his app, and preferred Mama Melrose's app to this. Maybe he really doesn't like calimari and doesn't know it? What I do know is there was a TON on his plate!

For the entree, he got the pork chop. He really liked it, but wished the portion was bigger. He also regretted not getting pasta after he saw other dishes coming out. Why does the heat make you order crazy things?

I got the spaghetti and veal meatballs. I know, simple, but I'm picky about my spaghetti. Before I moved out on my own at 19... I had only ever had homemade spaghetti and sauce. I cried when I opened my first jar of Ragu  I haven't been graced with the recipe yet... I'm hoping soon... but my aunt is a little crazy.

This was amazing. I was in love with it. The portion was huge and there were tons of meatballs. I wanted to keep eating, but I was at capacity. Dave kept stealing my meatballs... he liked them too :)

For dessert, I got the Lemon Sorbetti, and he got the Cannoli. We both made excellent choices. Mine was so smooth and refreshing... and of course... lemon! He destroyed his and was smiling, lol.

This was a great experience. We were drinking a LOT and they had a runner with drinks and she never let our glasses go dry. We would like to come back again for sure!! I think my family would like it here as well!

While we were there the little boy next to us came up and said that him and his family were leaving in the morning, but they had special fastpasses (still had 3 days before expiring) for Soarin and Test Track that they'd like us to have. We thanked them.... that was awesome!! That meant I didn't have to do rope drop in Epcot for FPs!! Yay for sleep! We left while Illuminations was going and made it back to our room. Tomorrow is Yak n Yeti and California Grill!

Today was an Animal Kingdom morning! We got to see baby Lilly.. my favorite gorilla too!! We had the first reservation for Yak n Yeti and asked to be seated upstairs since we sat downstairs last time.

Our server was very sweet, she took great care of us!

For appies, he had the lettuce cups and I had the wonton soup. The soup was perfect and light. I could have had another bowl, lol. He's wanted to try their lettuce cups for a while and he found them to be fantastic. I don't eat lettuce.. so I don't know anything about them

He had Bourbon Chicken and Jasmine rice for his entree and I had Sweet and Sour Chicken sauce on the side with upgraded chicken fried rice. I was shocked to see that his chicken was real, nice, chicken... while mine was mostly processed and elastic like. Maybe he had a better batch, but I didn't really enjoy mine so I ate the rice. His did look 100% better.

I was still a little underwhelmed with my entree after yummy soup, so I was totally ready for dessert. I got cheesecake with strawberry sauce and he got chocolate cake with raspberry sauce. Both of these were FANTASTIC. I didn't picture this place as a great dessert place, but we were very happy :)

We'll be back here again for sure. We liked it last time, but this time was really really good. Despite my ordering the wrong thing.. next time I'll go back to the Steak and Shrimp.

After that, we decided to hit the water park to cool off before dinner at the California Grill. Stay Tuned!

Thanks for the Yak & Yeti review
I am thinking of trying to get a lunch ADR there as the menu appeals and the reviews are generally very good
I love your reviews :)

Both these places look delicious!

Yak and Yeti is definitely on my list for next time. All the pictures I've seen look so delicious (except for your chicken). The soup looks yummy and the cake looks sooo good.

And I love pasta, so Tutto Italia looks delicious! Although I'm weird about my pasta, I don't like tomato sauce or alfredo sauce. However, I looked on the menu online and it seems like they have a few other types of sauces, so I may have to give this one a try at some point :)

Lol... my chicken was a little funky... but it was SO FREAKING HOT that I wasn't overly starving so it didn't matter. I think I want a piece of cheesecake now... with a side of chocolate mousse cake :rotfl: Tutto has all kinds of stuff, it's really pretty inside, and the Italian boys are hot, lol!

Two of my favorite restaurants.... Rose and Crown/ Yak and Yeti. They are a must each time we visit the world.

Your pictures are great and of course, I want to lick the screen when I see the dessert.

Thank you for sharing! :cool1:

Thanks!

Sorry about the hiatus... we lost a great friend and co-worker last week and it's been pretty rough and busy around here. Plus we book our wedding in 10 days so tying up loose ends has kept us hopping. I'll get back in as soon as possible!!

No worries! :)

Sorry about your friend. :( Ya'al are in our prayers. :goodvibes

Congrats on booking your wedding in 10 days!!! That's so exciting!

Great reviews! Looking forward to the rest of your trip however, very sorry for your loss.

Love your reviews. Rose and Crown looks great. We will be trying it for the first time this trip. Is that sticky toffee dessert very sweet? It looks really sweet...its ok if it is cause I love sweet ;). We are huge fans of Tutto. I am also picky about my Italian food(grew up in NY) and I loved it there last trip. We will be back there again this trip :) Can't wait to read the rest of your reviews popcorn::

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend :sad1: You are in our thoughts and prayers. On a brighter note that is SO exciting about your wedding!!! I can't even imagine how exciting planning and having a DFTW would be! We really wanted to do that but too many of our close family wouldn't have been able to travel. We want to do a 10 year vow renewal down there though! :lovestruc Good luck with everything!:goodvibes:goodvibes

OH MY!

I haven't updated since June?? Well it was a rollercoaster, July was even crazier.... and last week we decided to move our November 2012 wedding to a November 2011 wedding :scared1:

So once I get everything in order for the change... I'll be back in business!! After all... I have a Disney Wedding/Honeymoon report to start in November and need to get this done first!!

I'm looking forward to reading more reviews. I love your style of writing!

I'm so glad you chose the Disney wedding... are you planning like crazy? Now that I got through the entire thread, I see you moved the date up a whole year! How exciting :-)

I'm heading back on the 19th for 4 nights and trying to get back for F&W Fest and XMas with Mom. Are you still doing F&W Fest or does the wedding supercede everything else?
