All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go.... but I have a full blown sinus infection! NOOOOOOO!!!! Head pressure, sore throat, cough, UGH!

Don't you just hate when you look forward to something for months and months, only for it to get within reach and something like this happens? Started antibiotic last night, just hoping the plane doesn't make my head explode or I go temporarily deaf like I did a few years ago. Any tips for the plane? Someone told me "Ear planes" help. This is my DD's first trip - I have to be smiling by Saturday!!!

I don't have much advice for the plane, but I can commiserate with the sinus infection. I started antibiotics last Wed. They usually clear me up in a couple of days, but now, a week later, I'm still coughing and hacking through the night.

Be sure you bring your Dr's phone number, in case you need a refill on the antibiotic. Also, eat lots of yogurt while you're on the antibiotic to stem a yeast infection and/or diherrea (sp?).

Also, bring PLENTY of cough drops. I mean multiple bags. They help with my ears and clearing my sinuses. I also found that sudafed helped a lot with the pressure.

Good luck! Hope it clears enough for you to enjoy your trip. I still have 3 months till mine, and you can bet I'll be taking vitamins and extra vitamin c every single one of those days, as soon as my stomach can handle it again (I'm on antibiotics for another 2 weeks, and they tear up my digestive system something awful!)

Good luck, we just returned with colds from the trip and the airplane was horrendous on my ears. Try the chewing gum thing and keep your doctor's # nearby. My tubes swelled shut 100% and 85% upon landing and I couldn't hear for days finally had to go to doc and get something (steroids and nasal spray). Don't hesitate to call your doctor if you have other issues or go to urgent care. It's much better to take a few hours out of your trip to get on the path to wellness vs suffer thru. And don't try to overdo it the first few days, try to slow down a bit to give yourself a little time to heal. Trust me I've had 3 "sick" trips to WDW in the past 6 years. Urgent care is the way to go.

And I know it's next to imposssible but I hope you are resting alot today have your DH or the kids finish the packing and try to get as much rest as you can.

I hope you are feeling better already. :wizard:

Raw garlic helps me more than antibiotics. Peel it and cut it up small enough to take like pills. Do not chew it - the taste of raw garlic is not very good!

In the future, try a Neti Pot or a saline irrigation system when you think a sinus infection is starting. I used to get 6-8 sinus infections a year thanks to my allergies. Now I do the saline irrigation if I feel one coming on and don't get sinus infections anymore. (Technically, doing the rinse every day is suggested but I hate the feeling so I only do it when I'm desperate).
