Two contracts, same UY

I own a majority of my points at one DVC and bought a very small add on this year at another.

When I called today and asked how many points I had they total me the total of the two contracts.

I expect them to say you have X amount at A and X amount at B. So should I now consider my total points? Or still think of them as separate?

Could I make a reservation for B with my small contract but use points from A, my major contract?

Dang, and I thought had this DVC thing figured out.

They give you total points in use year; they are combined for purposes of banking and you get only one dues staement although it will be broken out between the two resorts. You can mix the points for a reservation at 7 months out but not at 11 months out because points never lose their resort identity and only points for a designated DVC resort can be used 11 months out at that resort.

This combining points at 11 months out is a question that comes up a lot and it is sometimes useful to understand why a single owner who owns at two resorts cannot use the combined points at one resort 11 months out. If that were allowed everyone would buy a large amount of points at SSR on the low-priced resale market and then buy a 25 point add-on at BLT and then use all the points 11 months out at BLT. That would essentially destroy the home resort advantage of normal BLT owners.

You did a perfect job of explaining that in very simple terms and so I understand.

At 7 months they both are the same but at 11 it has to be the home resort. Got it.

You'll have to get in the habit of remembering to tell the CM which contract when you call or they may take them from the wrong contract. I own 3 homes, and often I might be saving my BLT or BWV for a 11 month booking later. My largest contract is SSR. So when making a 7 month reservation, It took me awhile to remember to tell the CM that I'm using only my SSR points for that reservation. It would be a pain to go to make a 11 month reservation thinking you have points only to find out they were used, esp. if they are banked points. I know that sounds a little confusing. I own at BLT and BWV mostly for the 11 month window so generally use both banked and new points when making a reservation. It isn't so much the CM, it's just that the computer will grab those banked points from a previous year to use first. I make it a habit to always check my account whenever I make a transaction just to make sure my points are coming from the correct contracts.
