Hi everyone! Sorry I have been gone for sooooo long! June was a very busy month, and July hasn't let up any at all! But I am back, hopefully updating with some semblence of regularity again. So, where have I been?
Well, shortly after the last update, my Grandmother, who has been having all sorts of health issues, had a heart attack. She is fine, thankfully, but it really threw my whole family into a frenzy. Luckily, she was actually at the hospital having some tests run. Otherwise, she might have been at home by herself, and we wouldn't have been nearly as lucky. In ensuing appointments post-heart attack, we've only received positive news about the other issue that we were dealing with for her. Praise Jesus!
Where else? Well, Kelly and I traveled to San Antonio for a weekend with a group of friends to float the river.
And then over the 4th of July, my family (grandparents included) rented a cabin in Ruidoso, New Mexico. It was lovely. The weather was in the 60s, 70s the whole time - a nice break from the Texas Triples!
I have pictures, and more to update about that hopefully sometime next week. And of course we all know that I leave for my Europe trip in....(drum roll).......14 days. Yes, that's right, two weeks. I haven't done a thing for this trip yet. Who am I kidding, I haven't had time! Currently (while I am not at work), I am house/babysitting my former choir director's kids while she is out of town. (The oldest is 15, so I am able to be at work during the day). Once I get back to my own house, I will HAVE to start packing for Europe. I haven't even thought about it in like a month. And now, it's suddenly upon me.
But again, more updates about this will come at a later time.
The main purpose for this post, other than to let all my Dis friends know that I am still around, is to tell you all about a book I just read.
It's called Mousejunkies!, and the author is Bill Burke. I found it in the travel section (while I was perusing, hoping the new UG was out, which is ridiculous, cause I know the new UGs usually come out in August!). This book was amazing. I picked it up because...well, I'll read anything about Disney World, and I've called myself a Mousejunkie for years. Everyone should read this book. For my fellow Mousejunkies, Bill and his friends have articulately (and humorously, and a whole other host of flattering adverbs) described what Disney World is through the eyes of someone who loves it as much as we do. I've been asked for years "Really Court? Disney World...again? I could get anyone whose ever asked me that question to read this book, and finally they would GET IT. I've already decided that my parents, particularly my mother, needs to read it. I am trying to plug this book, because I thought it was so wonderful. I don't think I am doing a very good job, so let me just tell you what I told Bill when I emailed him. (Yes, I emailed him. It's rare a book compels me to do that, but this one did!). This is the book I've always wanted to write. That may not sound like a compliment, but trust me, coming from me, it's huge. So. Check out the book. And share it with your husbands, boyfriends, family members, friends....those folks who give you "the look" when you bring up WDW. At least get them to read the first chapter. They shouldn't ever have to question your relationship with the Mouse again.
So. I've realized after writing this that I...should probably not write commercials. All the same, I hope you take my suggestion.
In one other teeny, tiny piece of news....
someone may be planning another Disney trip! That's right! But....shhhh.....we aren't talking about it yet until the "official planner" decides it's official. And yes, she'll read this, and know what I'm talking about.
