Hello everyone! This is my first time writing a dining review, so it should be a little interesting. My mom and I just got back from our Disney trip this morning at 1 a.m. and we're ready to share our dining experiences with you. A little info: I'm a vegetarian going on four years who eats vegan at home and my mom, while she does enjoy starches, does eat meat! Obviously from the title we are blondes, so we have many interesting stories to tell about our Disney adventures, so stay tuned!

Roast Turkey Sandwich with Cucumber Salad: $8.99

Vegetable Burger with Pasta Salad: $7.59

This by far was our worst meal of the trip. The turkey sandwich had a massive proportion of bread to meat, while both salads had very minimal dressing and no flavor. The veggie burger (that was even topped with bbq sauce, tomato, lettuce, pickles and ketchup) was also disappointing. However this was based more on personal preference. I prefer Boca burgers which taste more like beef to Gardenburgers that have more vegetables and herbs.

At this time, we also chose to purchase our refillable mugs for $14.49 each. Mom had a Coke and I just had a water. Don't worry, the reviews will get much better! :thumbsup2

Can't wait to read more! I always enjoy reading vegetarian reviews as it opens me up to options I might not otherwise try. I'm not vegetarian but I do enjoy an occasional meatless meal. :)

I also enjoy reading about Disney's vegetarian options even though I am a meat eater! Looking forward to more!

Ohana, 8:15 p.m. ADR

After touring Animal Kingdom, we quickly hopped on a shuttle to the Polynesian Resort and briefly explored it. Right at 8:15, we checked in and were led to our table, where our host proclaimed it Ohana's best table. It overlooked Cinderella's Castle and had a beautiful view of the Grand Floridian and Electrical Water Pageant. We were also given the welcome bread. The bread was okay but it needed oil or margarine. As we were being seated, I noted I was a vegetarian. The host told me there was no problem that I would go hungry. Our server then came immediately to take our drink orders. I asked about the pineapple/orange/guava juice but it was unavailable so I got a pomegranate lemonade and Mom had a Coke. The pomegranate lemonade was very good and didn't have a Diet aftertaste. He was somehow alerted I was a vegetarian because he also said there was no problem about getting meatless food.

We next received our salad with honey lime vinaigrette which was very refreshing! In the picture, you can also see the three dipping sauces they bring with the chicken wings and potstickers (also pictured). My mom especially loved the chicken wings!

Just as I was finishing up a small plate of salad, our server brought out vegetarian sushi with a dipping sauce and pita bread and hummus. The sushi was delicious (not too many vegetables) and the hummus was seasoned very well. (I normally don't like hummus.)

Our server later brought out the lo mein noodles and broccoli. Both my Mom and I declared the lo mein our favorite part of the meal! It was perfect! The broccoli was also nicely cooked.

The meat was then brought out. My Mom chose to get a few pieces of steak and pork. The steak was her favorite. She loved the idea of the open-fire grilling and her only complaint was they give you too much food. A theme of the trip was "they could give us 1/2 the portion for half the cost!"

Soon after, our server brought me a tofu vegetable stir fry. This was delicious because it was spicy, had lots of sauce and it had perfectly seasoned potatoes! I would have liked the tofu crispier but overall it was very good!

The bread pudding dessert was delivered about a half hour before Wishes begun. Although we both enjoyed it, Mom loved, loved, loved this dessert. She loved the cold ice cream combination with the warm bananas foster sauce. Although bananas foster sauce is one of my favorite foods, the dessert was a little mushy and not piping hot, which I favor.

Overall, we will eventually return to Ohana, but will most likely try Kona Cafe next. We want to experience the atmosphere of the Polynesian without the hefty pricetag of $34.99 a person!

Subbing subbing subbing!!!! :woohoo:

Interesting about the veggie burgers. So they are gardenbugers? I like those best, so I guess this would be a good thing for me. :thumbsup2

WOW on Ohana! That is NOT what I got when we were there in fall of 2009, and that veggi sushi looks YUMMY! I may have to add Ohana back onto my list for future trips, I just assumed I would get the same tofu/rice dish I had before.

Not the best start to your reviews but seems like 'Ohana was slightly better. You should definitely give Kona Cafe a try - it's our favourite place to dine.

Looking forward to reading more.

Great to see some vegetarian reviews! I'm like you and eat vegan at home, though when I eat out I include dairy, (and even seafood,) in my diet, but I try to eat vegetarian a lot of the time, and I it's nice to read about options in Disney!

Your vegetarian appetizers at 'Ohana look great and I'm not a vegetarian:):):)

That was table #310 in O'Hana and it is a very nice place to sit :)

I have a good friend that works in O'Hana and one night, I didn't feel like eating meats. The chef did a variation on that stir fry, utilizing the lo mein noodles in it...it was wonderful!

Whayt a nice picture of you!!
I am waiting for more also.
I know the pasta salad is tasteless from past trips, but the cucumber salad looks good. Too bad it is tasteless too.
Curious--why is your Mom wearing a sweathsirt? Wasn't she hot?

Thanks for sharing! Your dining review title is cute.

Sorry that your food court experience was a disappointing start to your trip. But it's nice to know that a vegetarian does not need to go hungry at 'Ohana for dinner! :) Actually, the pita bread and hummus looks really good.

These were all of my thoughts exactly so I'll just say "Ditto" and I'm looking forward to reading more of your reviews! :thumbsup2

Loving the reviews and the title is adorable! The vegetarian option at Ohana looks delicious! Can't wait to read more! :)

:welcome: haha, yes! Because Hurricane Debbie was bringing in a cold rain practically every day, we had to use sweatshirts occasionally!

Thank you everyone for joining in!! :welcome:

World Premiere Food Court, around 8:30 a.m.

Magic Kingdom opened at 9 a.m. this day but because of our early flight the day before, we knew we couldn't make it to rope drop if we wanted to last until 2 a.m. that night! Fortunately, our room was fairly organized (and was very close to Cinema Hall), so we were at the food court by 8:30. We both went to Lyric because we were hungry for Mickey waffles!

Mickey Waffle with Strawberry Topping and Bacon: $6.68 (I gave my bacon to Mom) and Mickey Waffle with Bacon: $5.69 (also pictured)

Yum! We had anticipated this breakfast since our last trip in '08, so needless to say, they were great! I especially liked the strawberry topping and syrup combination. We used our refillable mugs to get a Cherry Coke for Mom and an unsweetened iced tea for me. But as soon as I poured my iron supplement into the unsweetened iced tea, I could tell I needed to make a drink change to Orange Fanta. Mark it in your trip notes: don't ever mix liquid iron with unsweetened, swampy Florida water! You will lose your appetite. Anywho, I quickly drank the ironed up Fanta (I don't drink pop, so it was interesting!) and off we went on a waiting shuttle to the Magic Kingdom!

Next up for the day: Peco's Bil Tall Tale Inn and Cafe, Tony's Town Square and Main Street Bakery
