I agree and I am not even going again till August..Sigh. This makes three major attractions that will be closed (two permanently) while I'm there. I'm bringing my SO for his very first trip to Universal, and while I was never a huge fan of Twister, it's incredibly frustrating that Uni has chosen this particular offseason to close EVERYTHING down. Sucks to be those of us who chose to travel this winter. :-/ (Yes, I know.... travel in the offseason and this is what happens... but this is just a LOT of attractions to all be down at the same time.)
I've been wondering about that too. Sadly very few people every seemed to be in the Lucy attraction so I can see why they closed it. We have no interest in the replacement but I bet that others will like it.My middle daughter loved Twister.. but she is also slightly obsessed with tornadoes and said she thought it was scary! LOL! She will be sad to hear that it is closing. I'm a little sad about the Feivel's playland closing. My kids are very familiar with an American Tail and they loved that area so much! Personally, I am sad about the Lucy attraction. I really enjoyed it because I am such a big fan! What are they going to do with all the memorabilia?
We purposely did twister a few weeks ago with Macraven knowing about the closing soon. Good bye twister, glad it's going.
I totally agree!!!!! Yes, I know this is an old thread, but I came here because I just heard the news of Twister. I hadn't been back to Uni since the year that they took Jaws out. Twister was the last favorite left. If you live in a tornado prone area, you understand how great this attraction was. I really do not like all the nausea simulator rides. I like real sets and special effects. Not a movie and a moving seat!lol i'm still bitter about pretty much everything they removed/changed.
-jaws
-king kong (yes i know they are putting a new version in IOA)
-hanna barabera
-murder she wrote (no absolutely not!)
-the alfred hitchcock attraction
-ghostbusters
-earthquake (yes "disaster" ride portion is the same but nothing else is. i don't like the pre show concept, i miss the escalator with foam concrete falling on you, and i don't like how its all just so scripted now. i liked the feeling for "this is really happening" and then at the end you're like "ok it was not real" lol)
-beatle juice grave yard revue (last time i saw it i felt the costume for bride of frankenstein was inappropriate, the songs were inappropriate, and they didn't sing good)
-nickelodeon studios
-star in your own episode of star trek
-star in "your day at universal studios"
We never actually went on Twister, really didn't want to. Maybe we'll like the replacement although that's definitely still a while away. I just hope E.T. won't be replaced as much as we like Nintendo
Hard to believe Twister is going and yet E.T. is there to stay. E.T. is more out of date and the movie much older than Twister. Need to put a new ride there.
