Does anyone know where I can find string lights that give the same effect as the twinkling lights in the trees near the hub?

I purchased GE "Random Sparkle" lights, which are nice, but only every 5th bulb randomly sparkles. I'd like to get some where every bulb slowly and randomly flashes on and off like Disney's. I love those lights and have always wanted to put some in my trees.

Last year I bought "twinkle" lights at Walgreens. I'm not sure if all lights sparkle or just every other light (or 5th like in your case), but it definitely gives the appearance that the lights are twinkling and is very, very pretty at night.

Wish I knew! I have a set of christmas lights from a display tree we bought at Treasure Island 20 years ago. The tree is long gone but the lights still work. Each bulb has a different random twinkle. Some very very slow, slow fast etc. they are so beautiful. I've not been able to find anything like them so will be watching here!

Thise are called mini strobe lights, they sell them on a site I seen for like 6 bucks each, they attached to a c 9 bulb!I think its Mr Christmas or something like that!! :thumbsup2

Ok, I went check my Christmas boxes in the garage and found the box my lights came in. They are from Philips. I'm pretty sure I bought them either at Walgreens, Home Depot, or Lowe's last year. They are called Twinkling lights. They come in a pack of 100 clear mini lights. The price on the box is $5.49. You can connect up to 5 sets and they are on a green wire.

I also went on my front porch to look at my lights. Every one of my lights twinkle to some degree. Some are twinkling bright and fast, while others are twinkling more subtle, and some were barely blinking and lighter in brighness, and slower in blinking, but all are twinkling to some degree. I even put my hand behind several of them to make sure they were actually blinking and not just looking like it from the other lights. Each bulb I put my hand behind was definitely blinking, I could see the light flashing on my hand. We live at the end of our road and I can see my lights and can tell they are twinkling as soon as I turn down my road. Some lights in my yard don't blink and you can definitely tell the differenece between the regular lights and the twinkling ones. Hope this helps.

Most "mini" twinkle lights have zones, for example 5 way twinkling, 4 way twinkling etc. All the bulbs in a zone flash on and off together.

Most non-mini twinkling lights have each bulb flashing independently of the others. These are larger bulbs, about an inch or two in diameter, going by such names as C7-1/2. They also consume more electricity than mini-lights.

It is possible to have mini twinkle lights that flash on and off individually but these sets are not common. Some of the bulbs, must be non-twinkling (they will get dimmer and brighter somewhat randomly). I have seen mini sets with as many as 75% of the bulbs twinkling randomly.

If you should come into possession of such a set, do not put more twinkling bulbs into the set than the way it came. Otherwise you could cause voltage imbalances that will shorten the life of the set and also render false the claim that if one bulb goes out the rest stay lit.
