DD sleeps on the top bunk. We have an old mattress up there and she is complaining it is "too hard." Actually, I don't blame her b/c when I climb up there to change her sheets it is kind of hard.

Grandma sleeps in the bottom bunk when she sleeps over so I can't switch the mattresses. Plus, the mattress on the bottom is very thick (high) so it wouldn't work on the top bunk. It is almost as high as the rails.

Having said all that, where should I go to buy a comfortable, yet thin mattress that will work on the top bunk?

Is my best bet a mattress store or can I find a comfy one at Ikea, Target, dept. store, etc????

TIA!

We got mattresses at IKEA for the girls, they are GREAT!!! They are thinner and made for bunk and trundle beds. I think we paid about $80 each.

we have a futon mattress on our top bunk. It is only used when someone comes over so we put a sheet on it then. It always looks made. All of the cousins have slept on it with out complaints.

My younger ds has a trundle bed with slats like a bunkbed. I purchased specific "bunkbed" mattresses from Sam's Club, at very reasonable prices. They are sooo comfy!!! I love taking nap in his room....

Thanks for the responses! :flower3:

I'm going to check out Ikea & Sam's Club! I guess I should say we b/c I'm going to make her test them out.

I do not think we have BJ's in our area. :confused3

If I can get one under $100, I'll be thrilled!

We got ours from Sam's Club for like $99 I think. It's great for DS6, but not sure I'd recommend it for any full size/pooh size adult. They do have more expensive higher quality ones as well. But again for the young kids, under 100 lbs, they work great. Seem to hold up pretty well for my active kids. They're pretty soft/comfy if I'm just sitting on it to read them stories, but when I climb on/across it, I can sometimes feel the springs with my knees. They say mattresses should be replaced about every 7 years, so this one should hold DS at least till then.

Another option might be to put a memory foam pad on top of the current mattress (2 inch maybe). Of course, that might be too thick for what you want.
