I guess I am in the minority. I think she is ok as Bella. It is hard to tell without seeing the whole movie. I have enjoyed her in other movies like In the Land of Women and Into the Wild and I think she looks the part. I was never putting a lot of stock into this movie anyway. Kind of like the Harry Potter movies...some are better than other, I'm just glad to have another way to experience the story. OTOH I think the guy they cast for Carlisle does NOT look like what I imagined...but whatever I'll still be there opening day.

Me neither, but I LOVE Peter Facinelli. I think he's hotter than heck! My personal wish would've been (as I've stated here before) that they cast his wife Jennie Garth as Esme. There would be some terrific chemistry then.

Bella: "I dream. About being with you. Forever."

YAWN!!!!!!!!

CP-thanks for sharing that one-I like that one best, too! I do have to say that Kristen's voice delivering that line was a little monotone for me but I am looking forward to seeing this anyway:banana:

I'm okay with her as Bella too. I also enjoyed her in those movies, and think she's a good actor. She just hasn't had the chance to play a really main role until this one.

I think Jennie would have made a better Esme, too. I hate the actress they picked to play her... so much that I've blocked her real name from my memory. I've hated her since she played that stupid role on Grey's Anatomy. That was the first time I ever saw her, and I didn't need to see her again.

Ugh, me too!! I hated that character...

I agree. I'm fine with her as Bella also.

Anyone bought any Twilight merchandise online? There seems to be so much, like on Cafe Press, I'm just wondering what the quality is like. Are these items simply computer printed iron on t-shirts?

What Twilight "stuff" have you bought?

Some of you guys want Jennie Garth as Esme? Did we read the same book? I never watched 90210, but I watched What I Like About You. I could never in a million years see Garth as Esme. I thought Esme was supposed to be like 1920's actress classical. Maybe you've all seen Garth in something I haven't, but I can't imagine her as a loving, quiet, classical mother figure type.

And I like the actress who plays Bella. My voice IRL is usually described as monotone. So just because her voice is monotone, doesn't mean she doesn't have actual emotion.

No offense to you, ut Stewart is an ACTRESS. She's supposed to emote/have emotion in her voice. I do understand there are people who really do talk like that, however I just think it's poor acting skills on Stewart's part. I assume Stephanie Meyer disagrees with me since I've only heard praise from her.

As for Jennie Garth, she's much more mature looking now than the 90210 days, and she is a decent actress. I'm not entirely sure I would have picked her on her own, but certainly I think pitting her against Facinelli, once they cast him, would've been VERY interesting. Just think about it...and give her brunette hair.

Yikes!

But I'm not sure i'm worried about his orientation just yet.

Yeah...he plays Dali in Little Ashes and the movie is about his relationship with Garcia Lorca. They're not actually talking about his orientation.

Anyway, here is a clip from the Rome Film Festival, actually it's the whole scene at the Cullen house. From the arrival, through the room scene, through the tree scenes and ending in the lullaby, so if you don't want to be spoiled I suggest you don't watch.

Part of the scene, better quality:

I will give you the point on the actress who plays Bella, but I still can't picture Jennie Garth as Esme. Chemistry between a real life husband and wife might be nice to see, but I actually doubt we'll really see Esme and Carlisle interacting a lot in the movie.

I dunno, this can't really be an effective argument, because in the end it just all comes down to which actress best fits the picture you formed in your mind when you read the books, and everyone formed a different picture.
