Anyone know what happened to the Twilight Moms site? I usually check it daily for news and I haven't been able to get in for awhile now.:confused3 I was wondering if it was hacked like the Lexicon was. I hope not!

I am a bad, bad person.

I let my unsuspecting friend borrow Twilight.

When she was halfway through, I brought over New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. She's halfway through NM now (she just started the series on Sunday night or Monday morning) and she keeps texting me about her lack of sleep, or how she's been crying for an hour....

My work here is done. :rolleyes1

You are an EVIL,EVIL friend :rotfl: another one bites the dust ;)

I am borrowing your siggie pict I love it ,,,, Too funny:rotfl:

Hmm, I bet you're right about the Quileute flashback. The only other one I could think of is Emmett and the Bear, wich is an outtake from book one.

I got a program that removes passwords from encrypted PDF files, and it decrypted all the files so they can be printed- but when I open them I get an error message! I'm corresponding with customer service so hopefully that can fixed.

ooh let us know if you can get it to work...;)

Just read this on Stephines page.

So where does this leave Midnight Sun? My first feeling was that there was no way to continue. Writing isn't like math; in math, two plus two always equals four no matter what your mood is like. With writing, the way you feel changes everything. If I tried to write Midnight Sun now, in my current frame of mind, James would probably win and all the Cullens would die, which wouldn't dovetail too well with the original story. In any case, I feel too sad about what has happened to continue working on Midnight Sun, and so it is on hold indefinitely.

This really sucks. Now i may never get to read it. Not sure I wanna read just part of the book.

Nooooooooooooooooo! Here's the entire blog entry that makes this more clear:

As some of you may have heard, my partial draft of Midnight Sun was illegally posted on the Internet and has since been virally distributed without my knowledge or permission or the knowledge or permission of my publisher.

I have a good idea of how the leak happened as there were very few copies of Midnight Sun that left my possession and each was unique. Due to little changes I made to the manuscript at different times, I can tell when each left my possession and to whom it was given. The manuscript that was illegally distributed on the Internet was given to trusted individuals for a good purpose. I have no comment beyond that as I believe that there was no malicious intent with the initial distribution.

I did not want my readers to experience Midnight Sun before it was completed, edited and published. I think it is important for everybody to understand that what happened was a huge violation of my rights as an author, not to mention me as a human being. As the author of the Twilight Saga, I control the copyright and it is up to the owner of the copyright to decide when the books should be made public; this is the same for musicians and filmmakers. Just because someone buys a book or movie or song, or gets a download off the Internet, doesn't mean that they own the right to reproduce and distribute it. Unfortunately, with the Internet, it is easy for people to obtain and share items that do not legally belong to them. No matter how this is done, it is still dishonest. This has been a very upsetting experience for me, but I hope it will at least leave my fans with a better understanding of copyright and the importance of artistic control.

I'd rather my fans not read this version of Midnight Sun. It was only an incomplete draft; the writing is messy and flawed and full of mistakes. But how do I comment on this violation without driving more people to look for the illegal posting? It has taken me a while to decide how and if I could respond. But to end the confusion, I've decided to make the draft available here (at the end of this message on the Midnight Sun page). This way, my readers don't have to feel they have to make a sacrifice to stay honest. I hope this fragment gives you further insight into Edward's head and adds a new dimension to the Twilight story. That's what inspired me to write it in the first place.

I do want to take a moment and thank the wonderful fans who have been so supportive of me over the past three years. I cannot begin to tell you how much each of you means to me. I only hope this note will stop all the confusion and online speculation so that the Twilight universe can once again become the happy escape it used to be. After this incredibly busy year, I am now focusing on spending more time with my family and working on some other writing projects.

After reading the reason behind her sadness, I feel so awful for having downloaded those 12 chapters of Midnight Sun. :guilty: I know she's made it available to the public anyway, but this isn't the way it should have happened. Whoever betrayed her trust must be in some deep doo-doo with her.

Oh, I really, really hope she'll decide to continue with the book. I feel like writing her a letter reminding her how much her fans love these books and characters.

Nooooooooooooooooo! I wonder what's going on that's made her so depressed? Could it possibly be the backlash against Breaking Dawn? I surely hope she has a tougher skin than that!

Oh, I hope she continues to write Midnight Sun. I won't be content with the first twelve chapters only. :guilty:

I suspect that is a lot of it. I'm sure that the Breaking Dawn backlash is getting to her and this just felt like the final straw. I have to believe that she will eventually get past this and finish MS for all of her fans.

Her blog about Midnight Sun actually made me feel really sad. I wasn't so sure I was going to read MS, even when it came out, because I still have some left over bitterness from Breaking Dawn ;).. But I just can't imagine how it would feel to work so hard on something, only to have someone post it, unfinished, on the internet. She 'sounded' so broken on her page. After taking some time off, I hope she does finish it. People would definitely still read it.

This kind of personal and legal violation happens millions of times a day, everyday. I hope, as Ms. Meyer suggested, that every one of her fans step back and take a look at how they treat all of the creative sources they derive entertainment and information from, and resolve to respect copyrights absolutely from now on.

This is exactly why I didn't read the illegal download (or even download it). I hope those of you who did are happy about how you've contributed to the author's feeling of violation.

Go ahead and flame me. That's how I feel.

I hope not only do folks refrain from flaming you, but rather actively object to, and condemn, all such illegal downloading, whenever it is discussed in these forums, whether it is the text of a novel, music, or video.

I'm not going to flame you -- I agree with you. However, I already expressed how crappy I feel for downloading the pirated material. :guilty:

Honestly, when I downloaded Midnight Sun, I was caught up in the frenzy of the books, having JUST finished the series. I was hungry for more.. and I really didn't even consider the idea that someone had stolen the manuscript and illegally distributed it. I thought for sure that someone at Stephenie's publishing house, or Stephenie herself, could have leaked it to create new excitement over the series. It seemed like a viable idea, in light of the considerable criticism and backlash Stephenie has received for Breaking Dawn.

That being said, I don't think there's really any need to come down on us like you're our mother or the school principal or something.

I'm guilty about having downloaded it, I was regretting it before I even downloaded it. I'm too weak when it comes to these characters and story. But, I knew this would be coming at a point. Stephenie makes HER own decisions, she doesn't take crap from anyone, not even her fans. In the end, I agree with her. We deserved this. And as an author myself I would've been dissapointed and would've done the same. It's sad to see the Stephenie hate come back after this statement. :(

I feel wretched now. I normally don't do that kind of thing, but like others I thought it was somebody in the publisher's office. I honestly didn't think she would mind since she posts so many rough drafts and outtakes on her website. If I knew she would respond this way I never would have done it. Shame on us.

No flames here. I worked in the music industry for years and have HUGE issues with copyright infringement and the people who practice it. It's a blatant betrayal of the people who work so hard to entertain us.

And now there is the possibility of no Midnight Sun. I am filled with *grrr*.
