i read the chapter it is good. i cant wait to read the rest of the book.

from what i read the love story of bella and edward will have a happy ending. i want summer to be over with so we can have the wedding, the honeymoon, her change, her power!! omg i am way to excited for this.

i cant wait to see the clip at mtv!

I finished reading New Moon, I'm going to try to put off starting Eclipse until after work, otherwise I'll have trouble putting it down.

So did anybody watch the Mtv Movie Awards??

Here is the clip that they showed..in case you missed it..OR..if you just wanna watch it over and over and OVER!;)

Personally I wish they would have shown a FULL clip..that's what I thought they were supposed to show, instead of just skipping around like they did, BUT I thought it looked great!

Well..could have done without a few of the sound effects, but it's kind of hard to get a FULL picture in just that little bit.

Ok, so i bought the book on Saturday and wrapped it up today (Twilight). I'm going to pick up New Moon today. The book was good, but I had a few issues with it:

1. She never REALLY explained why Bella left Phoenix for Forks. The best I could gather is that she wanted her mom to be able to spend more time with her semi-pro ball-player fiance? That seems a little far-fetched a reason for a teen to leave a bustling Metropolis she loves for a town and a father she despised. I know, I know, it's just a book, but she could've found a more compelling or believable reason.

2. Her physical description of Bella bothered me. I could never get a clear image in my head of what she looked like (body type, height, facial features). To be honest I was also bothered by her insistence that Bella was clumsy. I know why she did it (vampires are so graceful and the juxtaposition and all) but it just annoyed me.

3. Again, it's just a book...I KNOW...but I HAD to wonder what the heck Bella dn Edward do about their relationship during...ahem...THAT time of the month. Must be awkward!

4. I get that the two of them are deeply, madly, truly in love, but it seemed almost verging on smothering.

That aside, I really liked the book and am looking forward to the others to try to flesh out some of the characters. I hope that Bella doesn't spend all of book two whining and begging Edward to turn her. I'm also wondering if there is going to be any "physicallity" to the next book or two.

We'll see....no spoilers for me please. I've managed to know next to nothing about any of the books!

Jennasis - I agree with some of your thoughts. Just try to keep in mind these books were more for teens than those of us with more of an outlook on life (if you're a teen - sorry!).

Personally, I found the whole "Edward is over 100" thing to be kind of gross. Because she made him SO old, it seems okay to overlook it, but as I said in an earlier post, what if he was really say 50? Doesn't it seem kind of "ick" to have a 50 year old man with a 17 year old girl? I know again that he has a 17 year old body. So that's all that matters? And he just always seems so patronizing to her - the "I know so much more than you" that in some ways he seems like a "dirty old man" to me!

At least on my first run-through I was really turned off by this. But I think rereading the books more make me understand more that he really does care for her and is just doing the best he can with a very unique situation!

I don't want to say any more and ruin any of the other books for you, but I'll enjoy discussing them with you as you get through them! I will say I liked book 2 the best, although that definitely seems to be a minority opinion! After reading this thread after book 1, I wasn't expecting much from New Moon at all and was amazed by how much I enjoyed it! So happy reading! Take your time and you won't have as long to wait for book 4 like the rest of us!

Personally I think this is all about showing us Bella's maturity level. She is willing to look past what SHE wants in order to make her mother happy.

It is said repeatedly throughout the books how Bella is more like the mother, always taking care of Renee. Renee even refers to her as an "old soul" at one point.

To me this is just one of the many things that makes her different and attractive to Edward from the very beginning..because she is just SO much different than the typical teen.

Hmmmm..can't really help you there. I guess my mind just kind of picked up the basics of her appearance..hair color and length..size..skin color..and then I just filled in the rest with imagination. Never really had an exact picture in my mind of what I thought Bella's face looked like. I do think Kristen Stewert is pretty accurate though.

The clumsiness didn't really bother me so much either. Maybe because I have a clutso DD myself..I'm used to it!:rotfl: She's seems to be going through some sort of stage where she is constantly tripping over her own feet, dropping things..etc..
It kind of becomes a running joke throughout all the books, and adds a lot of humor IMHO...especially when you get to the first chapter of Breaking Dawn!!;)

3. Again, it's just a book...I KNOW...but I HAD to wonder what the heck Bella and Edward do about their relationship during...ahem...THAT time of the month. Must be awkward!

Stephenie actually answered that question over on the Twilight Lexicon.
She says...

Several girls wanted to know if Edward would have a more difficult time being around Bella when she?s having her period. Answer: Yes, a little bit, but he would never say anything about it?much too much of a gentleman. And Bella would be way to embarrassed to ask. (It?s not the same as a cut, though. It?s sort of "dead" blood, if you get my meaning).

4. I get that the two of them are deeply, madly, truly in love, but it seemed almost verging on smothering.

I can see where you would feel like that, for ME personally though, that's what I actually liked about it.
It's just SO far from a typical romance. At one point it is even pointed out that he is like a drug to her..her brand of heroin.;)
They NEED each other..desire each other beyond all reason.:lovestruc

I like that it causes them actual physical pain to be separated from each other..if only for an afternoon! I guess I just love being swept away by the intensity of it all.

For me..it would only be smothering if either of them didn't feel the same..felt like the needed their own space. BUT, since they are equals as far as that goes..in my eyes it's not smothering.

The clip as ok, I was just expecting MORE. What was that? 15 seconds? And that's being generous.

I agree, I want more more more of the movie! :worship:
Did anyone see the MTV preshow last night before the awards? Rob was really funny but for some reason I thought Kristen was a little annoying. She was asked what she thinks of all the fans of Twilight (or something like that) and she said when she got the part, she had never even heard of the book. I guess it wasn't what she said so much as how bored she looked while saying it.

Kristen is not really much of a celebrity, she doesn't seem comfortable with interviews and such, she's a very shy person.

I have liked Kristen in other movies and I think she looks right for the part. I can understand if she's shy. I didn't even think of that- being kind of bubbly myself :rolleyes1

I'm halfway through New Moon now. So far it's ok, but I've already got a problem that I had in the first book (didn't mention it before)...

GET ON WITH IT ALREADY! I'm halfway through the dang thing and NOTHING has happened yet (though I finally got to the incident in the meadow, which I am assuming is the jumping off point for the REAL action/plot of this particular book). But HALFWAY to get to it??? The book so far has been mostly pages and pages of how "lost" and "empty" Bella feels. I know that, I get it...but get on with the story! Like reading Lord of The Rings. Great book, lots of filler and descriptions that drag on.

I also am trying to deal with the notion of Jacob being younger than Bella, AND somewhat desirable. I am surrounded by 16 year olds right now who are hormones-a-ragin and none of them talk like this or act like this or are what I would describe as desireable. So for the moment, I'm on Team-Edward!

I would dearly love for the vampire/werewolf (I'm assuming werewolf...remember halfway through the book and it's just being hinted at) book to ACTUALLY feature vampires and werewolves.

Now before the uber-fans get up in arms over my assessment, please keep in mind that I do LIKE the books. So much so that as soon as I finished the first one last night, I picked up the second one this morning and haven't put it down.

OTOH, since I haven't read this whole thread (for fear of spoilers) am I understanding correctly that there is a movie version in the works? Who has beeen tapped for the various parts? Did I hear correctly about a short clip being available somewhere?

The trailer looks interesting. I like the character playing Bella better than the one playing Edward. Not quite how I picture him...The hair isn't Bronze the way I saw it). Don't think I'll be able to drag DH to this one though. Maybe I can get some of my teen students together for a field trip!

It's fakey orange, but passable. I guess. Totally not how I pictured him at all either. But he grew on me.

MY DH will be dragged to the second time I go. The first is GIRLFRIENDS only!

I'll be dragging DH to this one;) I really like Robert as Edward. I think I was one of the few that could see him as Edward when he was first announced for the role. His features are very striking and I think that is what makes him very Edward like in my mind. Also when I read the book I knew it would be impossible to cast someone that everyone would love because we all have such different tastes in what we find attractive. I believe that the chemistry between Bella and Edward is what makes Edward so attractive to Bella. From some of the scenes I have seen I believe that Robert and Kristin have that chemistry to make you believe that he is her Edward:cloud9:

I started reading Eclipse this morning. . . I just finished reading it already. I can't wait until 8/2.

:lmao: I absolutely love these books. I bought them 2 weeks ago Thursday and have read them 3 times now! Can't wait until August! Thanks to the DIS for getting me hooked!
