You mean Jasper's hat? :rotfl2: OH pleeeeeas let them fix that mess! It's SOO fake!

Misty got us ("us" as in ME and her ;) Not alllllll of "us") a pre-order copy of Stephenie Meyer's new book "The Host" AND to go to the BOOK SIGNING in May!

I'm so excited!
They will fix jasper's hair they just have too..:lmao:
I could not go to the book signing without my bff and or Enabler depending on what we are doing?:rotfl:

I am so excited also it is like xmas

I agree theyhave to fix Jasper's hair:rotfl2:

Also did anyone see the picture of the Volvo on TwilightMoms? Someone took some pics of some of the cars that are rumored to be in the movie. The Volvo is the small C30 hatchback - there is no way that is Edwards car!! He is suppose to drive an S60 , which is much nicer looking. can you imagine all of the Cullen's climbing out of a hatchback at school???:rotfl2: Edward just can't drive a hatchback!! :(

I was thinking the same thing. That picture is not what I have pictured in my mind of them getting out of at school. It made me feel sorry for him for having that car when everyone else's is so nice in the pictures.

I saw the Volvo on Twilight Moms last night. I couldn't believe it.
What were they thinking? Volvo must be paying for product placement of their new weenie-mobile. I can handle that Emmett's jeep isn't red and Rosalie is driving a Benz instead of a BMW, but

Edward Cullen does NOT DRIVE A HATCHBACK!!!!

Sorry if this has been answered - I tried looking back through several pages and at the official website and can't find it. When exactly (or even approximately!) is the movie coming out? Thanks!

Okay, reading through this whole thread took me approximately as long as it took me to read the first book. ;)

My 17 yo dd brought Twilight on vacation with her (we are both big readers) and told me she wanted me to read it so I picked up a copy in the airport. I did enjoy the book (although apparently not the extent others have!) :rotfl: and I'm now reading New Moon.

I must admit that I find it very disturbing that Bella collapses any time she feels a boy is leaving her and needs a boy around to be "alive." She's devastated by the loss of Edward--okay, I kind of roll my eyes but I understand the whole "first love" thing. Then Jacob, another boy, is the only thing that can bring her out of her funk. When Jacob isn't there to cheer her up (you know, because he's busy becoming a werewolf and all), she immediately falls into despair again.

My dd is a total opposite of this but I do kind of worry about the message this is sending to young girls.

I'm only partway through book 2 so maybe she grows out of this kind of behavior. I'll continue reading because I do think it's an interesting story but I wondered what you all thought about this aspect of it.

Oh, and I do have to wholeheartedly agree with the recommendation of Charlaine Harris's Southern Vampire books. Very funny and Eric the vampire makes me all weak kneed. :thumbsup2

from the twilight lexicon..
First of all, Bella’s love for Edward isn’t just a high school romance. It is true love. So you wouldn’t just “get over it” in a month like you do a high school boyfriend. Stephenie said that she based Bella’s intense pain on how she would feel if she lost a child. You don’t forget the pain—it doesn’t just go away.

Okay, though I will NEVER not be able to roll my eyes at that, I get it. However, she perks right up again when Jacob comes into her life and then immediately becomes a "zombie," woe is me girl again when he disappears for a bit. Since she doesn't have "true love" with Jacob, how is he able to distract her from that great love she shares with Edward? And why would we want to tell girls that without a boy--any boy--in our lives, we are nothing and life cannot go on as usual?

I appreciate you answering me and I hope you don't think I'm being confrontational with you. It's just one of those things that really bothers me about what I otherwise find to be a very interesting story.:goodvibes

I'm going to put this in spoiler white to give you my opinion. I know there are a couple of people who haven't read the 2nd book yet.

I guess I just look at the book as a fantasy and as such, it allows me to believe that there could be a love strong enough to cause that reaction to Edward leaving. It's like extreme soul mates and I'd like to believe it could happen. As for her needing Jacob, I think that he was a healthy relationship for her. He was a safe place for her, he wasn't a part of her school crowd, he didn't remind her of Edward and he was fun to be with. I think she was more hurt by his disappearance because she didn't understand why he was avoiding her, but I don't think she ever would have been so devastated over Jake as she was over Edward.

Thank you, that's an interesting idea, sthronds, and one I hadn't considered--that whole story line has really rubbed me the wrong way. I'm really interested in hearing opinions on this. And, I guess I'll see if I feel the same way when I've finished the series so far.

I don't think you're being confrontational at all! :goodvibes

Have you read New Moon more than once? I think I was so anxious to find out what happens that I read it TOO fast the first time.

When I read it the second time around I picked up on so much more that I missed.

I would disagree that Bella perked up as soon as Jacob came around. I think it was actually a pretty LONG time before she was even a sliver of normal.

Think about how he describes her later in the book when he talks about how when she first came around she looked half dead. How at even the mention of Edward she would wrap her arms around herself as if trying to hold herself together because she was literally in that much pain.

It took her a long time to realize that Jacob was indeed helping her to find some happiness again, but she never really felt whole ever. If she had, she wouldn't of had to conjure up the "voices" of Edward. He was still VERY much a part of her even when she had managed to come out of her zombie trance.

As far as what it's teaching girls, I see your point 100%! In fact I have always tried to teach both my children that you have to learn to be happy alone, and then whoever else comes into your life is just icing on the cake.

BUT..having said that.."IF" you look at this relationship as not boyfriend/girlfriend, but rather soul mates, at least for me I can see the difference.

Maybe because I married my own soul mate at 17 years old?? I know that I could be a version of happy on my own, but I could NEVER be as happy as I am with him in my life.

I love vampire books and so after reading this post, decided to try this series. I just finished reading TWILIGHT 2 nights ago. I think I am the only one who didn't like it. I am going to read NEW MOON in a week; does it get better?

That is so true , They need to just jump in all of our minds and get this movie right:rotfl:

I thought it was really fluffy, if that makes sense. How she trembles every time he's near, over and over and over. I liked the premise of the book and it had good parts, but it was filled with so much trembling and longing that made it a really long read. I really like the Anita Blake books, because they have a little more substance. So, I guess what I'm wondering, is, does the next book have more substance and less yearning?

It is a YA book and it is pretty fluffy- I think I alot of people are drawn to it for the romance and it takes them back to feeling 17 again. It definately does not read like an Anita Blake series which is an adult romance vamp series( aka Vamp Smut;) ) Nothing wrong with a little vamp smut now and then - lol Have you read the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by JR Ward - those are some pretty good adult vamp books:thumbsup2

I have to admit I wasn't sure I liked Twilight at first but after a second read I really did. I really am anxious to read MidnightSun - that is Edwards version of Twilight and since it is from a vampires point of view a little darker.

As far as subtance - I doubt that we will get any with this series as Stephenie has said that there will be no sex scenes since it is YA. I think even if Edward and Bella end up getting married that part might get skimmed over - lol
