Twenty Years Ago Today - Challenger Exploded

I was in 3rd grade...my class happened to be at lunch at the time, but every other class that was not at lunch was watching it on live TV...getting ready for Christa McAulife to teach a lesson from space. When we got back to class, our teacher looked incredibly somber and lethargic, and she just came out and told us what happened. We all became silent, and we sat and talked about it for a very long time.

I was in third grade too. I can still remember my teacher coming in and telling us something horrible had happened and crying. We watched the funeral later that week at school too.

I was on vacation in the Magic Kingdom. DH and I had considered going to watch the shuttle take-off but it had been postponed several times so we decided not to. We were so isolated being in the happiest place on earth that we didn't learn of the tragedy until about 5 in the afternoon.
