Yeah for C!
And yeah for making a decision on the work front and moving on. It is never fun having those decisions outstanding and nice to have come to one and be able to move past it. It sounds like the right thing for you.
And for the record I will be shocked if I end up sub 2. I am not expecting that at all. I do hope for less than 2:15, or even 2:10 but I really really do think sub 2 is pushing it.
Unless the stars align and the heavenly chorus sings.
I'm tired just looking at those steps.
Glad you got your meals planned out.
I think you made the right decision for you as far as the promotion.![]()
To totally copy my travel buddy I am going to use her term and give you a "BFP" or big fat plan. Just an over view. Let me know if I missed ANYTHING or of ANYTHING doesn't jive with what you had thought, Cynthia. I think long gone are my days of saying "we will do x, y and then z" It becomes harder to justify that level of planning.Disney has me now... for good. No longer will I think "if" I have another trip. Once we took that leap into the great wide somewhere that is DVC ownership it was then and there decided that we would be gong to Disney often. Perhaps in the future it will not be as often as it will be for this 12 month period but it will happen.
So with that here are the plans for the DLH trip (the "bfp" as Cynthia calls it) If you are following her PTR as well then it should look pretty familiar.
Friday 8/29:
- 8:40am Flight to Long Beac Coffee at airport!
- Arrive Long Beach 11:20am
- Meet Town Car Driver at the Airport
- Grocery Stop on the way to the Anabella Hotel
- Town Car to the Hotel

- Back to Room

Saturday 8/30:

- Back to Room
- Pool Time
- Lunch Garden Grill
- DCA
- Dinner at 6:10pm Wine Country Trattoria. And yes, I do plan to have one glass of wine
- Back to Room
It will be important for us to hit rope drop so that we can get fast passes for Radiator Springs Racers. We will have breakfast in the park. Then we can just meander a bit until it is time for us to go back to the room for some pool side relaxation. We may or may not have lunch before leaving the park. It will just depend on how late we eat breakfast and how much time we spend in the park before wanting to leave. We will eventually go back to DCA in order to have our dinner at Wine Country Trattoria. After dinner, the park closes at 9pm so I am not sure how long we will stay. We could hop over to DL which is again open until midnight.
My goals for this day:
- Ride Radiator Springs Racers
- Watch Cynthia ride California Screamin At least once, very possibly more
- POSSIBLY Get Up the Courage to Ride Tower of Terror
- Watch Aladdin Musical (options are at 12:40pm 2:20pm 4:45pm and 6:20pm)
Sunday 8/31:
- Wake EARLY
- Walk to Corral
- Run Disneyland Half Marathon
- Finish Disneyland Half Marathon

[*]Find real bathroom, hopefully I can wait till we meet back up!
- Meet Back Up
[*] GO TO STARBUCKS AND GET GIANT ICED COFFEE! enjoy that (and water of course) while cleaning up back at room- Back to Room
- Breakfast at 10:35 Steakhouse 55! with a celebratory mimosa!
- DCA
- Back to Room
- Pool Time
- Group Meet Up at 2pm
- DL
- Dinner Plaza Inn? I can't remember lol
- Back to Room
We will be getting up pretty early. Probably not as early as needed for a WDW race but still very early. We will start in the same corral and if needed will break apart. I have looked at the list of characters on the course and I think it is a safe bet that I won't feel the need to stop for a picture. I might however feel compelled to take selfies at the mile markers. I expect that will depend on time. Assuming we do not finish together we will have to meet back up. I also assume it will be Cynthia waiting on me so once I finish I will go and retrieve my Coast to Coast medal. Then we will walk back to the room to get ready for breakfast at Steakhouse 55. After breakfast we may hit a park, maybe DCA. Then we can plan some down time by the pool. We have no real plans for lunch other than to just wing it. I am suspecting that it will be some sort of snack in one of the parks that will tide us/me over. What ever park we didn't hit in the earlier part of the day I am sure we will hit in the later part. We do have a scheduled Meet with a group that both Cynthia and I belong to. We might try to have dinner at the Plaza. With the parks being directly across from each other we may go back and forth until we finally are ready to call it a night and head back to the room. I doubt that we will take it all the way till closing. If we did want to though, DL is open until 11pm and DCA until 10pm.
My Goals for this day:
- Ride Grizzly River Run
- Ride Soarin Over California
- Ride Monsters Inc.
- Splash Mountain
- Ride Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
- Watch World of Color(option is at 9:45pm)
Monday 9/1:
- Check Out
- Breakfast Beignets from Jazz Kitchen Express, YUM!
- DCA
- DL
- Lunch at 2:50 Cafe Orleans
- Back to Hotel
- Town Car to John Wayne Airport
- Fly Home 7:45pm
- Arrive Home 10:14pm BOO!
We won't have a full day left so I imagine I will want to get up early enough to get some good park time in. I have no idea how check out will go. I assume we will be free to leave our bags there. I have stayed at some hotels near DLR where they held the bags and others where you had to get a locker. On our way to the parks, we will stop off for breakfast. No reservation. We just need some beignets and coffee. We will then hit the parks to get anything in that we missed and to have lunch. After lunch it will be a sad walk back to the hotel to meet our driver. We will be flying home from a different airport. (this one I am familiar with) A short flight and we will be back to Seattle.
My goals for this day:
- Ride Any "Must Do's" in DCA That We Missed
- Ride Any "Must Do's" in DL That We Missed
- Wrap Up an Amazing Trip
:cool1
It was nice to make the decision. Then miss Kimberly came over tonight and when she learned that they had recommended me and I turned it down she was like![]()
![]()
Needless to say that it made me wonder if just for a second if I made the right call. Luckily though that didn't last long and soon enough I was back to feeling confident about my decision.
It could happen. Yes.. maybe around 2:05 to 2:10 is more realistic. But sub 2:00 could happen and I am rooting for youThen again... I hope you have a good time so don't push so hard you can't enjoy yourself too.

Finally, reason 201 why I feel much better about not submitting for the promotion... the trips. Once the dlh trip hits... it will be one after another. It all seemed doable at the time I first began planning them but now I worry that I will not be able to keep up with with work in between them. (remember I get ZERO vacation time) Totally a first world problem and please please PLEASE, understand I am well aware of how blessed and fortunate I am to be able to go on these trips. It just will be easier to manage them without trying to figure out how to manage a new job in between them.
Sounds like you made the right choice about the job!
Your BFP looks great!
Someday I'm going to get to DL!
I hope they have a dressing room so you can try on your Sparkle at the expo.
Did you ever figure out sizing? I saw you post on the Sparkle FB page that you were having issues. It sounds like you need a smaller size...maybe an xs for you??
I have a strange issue with my SS's right now, ONE LEG (the left) is starting to ride up but everything else fits! I guess I lost a little weight and so just that leg is riding up, this has never happened before. I'm just going to have to wait it out b/c I think sizing down would make everything else too tight.![]()
Love your BFP!!! I'm totally jealous! You're going to have such a fun time!
Way to stick to your guns on the job offer! Sounds like the right decision.
You are way more organized than I am here, I love it! My comments in purple
YAY for Katie joining us maybe for lunch!
My additional goals for this day (all the park stuff looks good!):
- Pick up D&B wristlet at expo
- Check out Expo. No real agenda but want to look specifically for maybe a coffee cup, wine glass, tees, tanks and headbands.
I am good with everything on your park to do list!
My additional goals for this day (all the park stuff looks good!):
- Go to GC and pick up a DVC rain jacket for Eric
- See if there is any adult planes fire and rescue merchandise for Jeff
That all sounds right to me! Except the mandatory trip to Starbucks after the race before shower lol. I figure on both days we will be playing a lot by ear just based on mood, weather, crowds whether it is park or pool time or whatever!
It is entirely possible you will finish first you know and be waiting on me.
Either way we should be relatively close to each other I think and no one waiting much at all.
I am hoping they will hold our bags, was assuming so. I could call.
Only thing I would add is any last minute shopping. That said, I am not planning on doing much shopping other than at the expo and the 2 things I mentioned above so that may not be a factor at all.
Well, she is a lot younger and probably does not quite grasp why a promotion may actually not be a good thing. At her age, it almost always is, it's just a different priority time. Which I think is incredibly freeing personally!
2:05-2:10 is much more realistic and I will be quite happy with anything in that range. It would be nice but I am really not expecting sub 2.
I am not sure I am capable of pushing myself so hard I can't enjoy myself.![]()
Which is probably why a sub 2 is very unlikely. LOL!
Speaking from the perspective of someone who just took a new job and left a very, very flexible schedule, this IS super important. You already know I can't get to Florida until late 2/20 for the PHM. In my old job that never would have been an issue. So I totally get it! But I had to change jobs because my old one was eliminated. Like I said before, its all about the priorities and balance! Good for you for making a decision based on what's best for you!
I hope they have a dressing room so you can try on your Sparkle at the expo. Did you ever figure out sizing? I saw you post on the Sparkle FB page that you were having issues. It sounds like you need a smaller size...maybe an xs for you??
Just to butt in and add to this, SparkleSkirts also had a dressing room at the Princess Half expo this year.I didn't go to their booth (in January) but at the ToT last fall, they did. I assume they will again. However, I am pretty sure that I can order with confidence....and if not... there is always the fb groups to pawn it off on.
LOVE your comments!!! BTW, how could I ever forget about starbucks!!!????!!!!![]()
Exactly... not really an agenda either (other than the two items) but on the look out for other things...that is how I feel too. Just no "i did it" tees. I just can't jinx myself like that.
![]()
Do I want to do more if we can? Sure... but I would like to do those things. I am super bummed that HM will be closed.![]()
Agreed. It is funny... even a minute difference in pace really doesn't equate to THAT much difference in finish time. When talking race times..yes... but waiting on someone.. na. I figure you won't be waiting much more than 15 minutes for me..if that.![]()
Or I could... honestly though I would be surprised if they didn't have SOMEWHERE for us to store them.
I don't think I would be making any grand purchases that last day either and I suppose they could go in my carry on if I did.
Honestly, with the troubles she has had with him (the district manager so to speak) I was surprised that she felt that I should have taken it. Course... just the company car/gas/insurance deal was pretty enticing to her.
I am hoping for less than 2:20 at this point. I am not sure what is going on with me. I mean... I know I shouldn't fret too much over my pace being slower but yesterday's race really was telling. I ran the entire thing.. didn't walk once and yet was slower in pace compared to last year. I don't know that I walked any of it last year though. Plus the humidity was sooo bad yesterday. Everything was damp because of it.
Well, it would definitely be the case for me. If I sub 2 it would mean I was pushing too hard.
I really appreciate your perspective. I think there are definitely times in my life where I may have really wanted to jump on this. I felt bad that I didn't want it in the same ways that I may have once. It was the right decision though...even if it does leave me more vulnerable should something happen to Steve. We will just stay positive though and assume that nothing will.![]()

Yes I am going to meet up with you guys! I just emailed Ann back! I was unplugged all weekend! I am excited to see you guys!
I have lots to catch up on but since I was just looking at these I thought I would share with you some pics from my son and Kimberly's engagement shoot. Sorry it is just a link. They can not be copied. So if you want to see them here is the link
I was quite convinced it was an oversight

You could be waiting 15 for me!
I do not think yesterdays race was telling. You were under an hour, in crazy humidity. I have a 3 minute spread in my 10K's...and a lot of that I believe is weather related.
If I based my half prediction on yesterdays run I would be over 2:20. Not by a lot but still. I don't really expect that to happen but the reality is, anything could.[/qutoe]
This is true. Anything could happen.... With the hot weather in the forecast I am thinking I am not even going to be able to beat my first half time. We will see though...
Beautiful shots!!!
Beautiful engagement photos, Ann.
Wow - they are fabulous!!!!! I wish I could photograph like that!
Love the photos!! What a beautiful setting, and an even more beautiful couple!![]()
Love the photographs!
Thank you all! I think they are a cute couple. I love the pictures!
LOVE the photos! Especially the 2nd series where they are a little more casual.
Such a soft spot for that location, Jeff and I were married there![]()
I like the more casual ones too. I think they are more flattering. So cool that you and Jeff were married there!
DEFINITELY!Have you read my TRs? The morning of a flight HAS to involve Starbucks.
Mhmm
I don't know. I think last year was hotter...so really it is a closer comparison. Steve thinks I need a break from running that I put in too many miles and it is making it so my body doesn't fully recover. Thing is I am not sore or tired after 99% of my runs.
