what type of shoes does your tween (girl) wear in the parks?? My soon to be 12 year old informed me she does not want to wear crocs which has always been our staple for our two girls...suggestions please!

I do not blame her. I hate crocs. I always wear Teva Mush and I love them. Just make sure you get the Original Tiva Mush and not the Teva Mush II. Sadly there are only two choices to choose from right now because they just brought the original Teva Mush back after much complaining about Teva Mush II. If I am not in my Teva Mush then I have on Tennis Shoes.

Teva, Merell, or her favorite brand of sneakers. Sandals are not required. Wear whatever you would be comfortable in at a festival or fair in your hometown.

My girls and I always wear Teva Hurricanes. I would rather wear those than tennis shoes any day of the week.

I like Crocs but my kids do not. We have always been tennis shoe and socks people. Strappy sandles always rub me in weird places. Everyone's feet are different, I would make sure to try different things at home before you go, and bring 2 or 3 options with you in case your plan fails.

I wouldn't be caught dead in those things....sorry, I understand your tween's plight. Tell her to bring worn in sneakers. I wear flip flops (gasp!) some days too, especially when doing a half day at a park.

I'm not a tween, but I live in my Reef flip flops. They are so comfortable, especially the "Sandy". I have worn them to all 4 parks, plus other local amusement parks, from rope drop to park closing without any problems. Hopefully she can find some comfortable shoes for touring the parks.

Young feet are probably fine in flip flops, just don't get old and you will all be fine!

I am also the wrong person to ask as I hate crocs. They tear the snot out of my knees and once your feet get hot they just slide all over them....
_I_ wear Brooks running shoes. _I_ would tell her that she has to wear a GOOD shoe with support and then let her pick which kind? Running shoes, Tevas, etc.
I also wear Superfeet flipflops for trips and back and forth to the food court, etc. They are not inexpensive, but offer great support.
Make sure whatever she chooses is well broken in before the trip.

My niece, mom and I wear sneaker and socks and then switch to flip flops (Teva Mush) half day or every other day. I never liked crocs, but I wanted to feel what everyone loved so much. I tried the "cuter" ones and did not like the bumps on the bottom at all.

I am heading quickly toward 50 and I still love my Teva Mush Flip Flops:) I can wear them all day. Last year we made Rope drop at DHS stayed until park closed and walked back to BW and I had no problems.

Do they sell those in department stores or any chains? I'd like to get some for my daughter but she's just into adult sizes and I'd hate to order them online if I'm not sure on the size.

I agree! Crocs are UGLY, IMO. Blech! I'd get her a good pair of walking sandals (Keen, Teva, Ryka) or walking shoes (Ryka, Adidas, New Balance) -- they will be much more attractive which will make her happy and will be just as comfortable.

We stick to sneakers. We're go-go-go types of people and none of us have ever had a blister at Disney. We just make sure to have good socks to go with sneakers. Think about how much you're walking. We dress our feet accordingly, which means sneakers.

*Edited to add: I have narrow feet, as does my daughter. None of us have wide feet. I do not like sandals unless they have a backing - and have terribly narrow heels, as do all of my kids. I don't like flip flop since the part between my toes would drive me crazy. My boys are the same way. My daughter does like flip flops but I wouldn't let her wear them at Disney. I want a more supportive shoe even for a child for Disney. She doesn't have keens or one of the sturdier sandals, just Target shoes, so we stick to my kids good running sneakers.

I understand, it depends on the arch of the shoe and the arch of your foot. Many flip flops are flat, which is great if your feet are flat! Also, Crocs are wide, not good for skinny feet. I just meant that what works for cute, skinny, young feet may not work so well in a few decades. People are so quick to judge :(

My kids wear either good sneakers/running shoes or flip flops. DH and I do too. I have narrow feet and can't wear crocks. My DD wouldn't be caught dead in them. My kids are runners, and love the light material shoes that they run in.

Teva and Reef both make a great flip flop that offers some support which is a must with the amount of walking done at Disney. I've also worn Keds that are backless so they can be slipped off easily during some rides to give your feet a break. I really love them at Disney but in the hottest months I go with the Reefs or Tevas. I do also have a pair of Cleo Crocs that are like regular sandals. They are great for water rides...and downpours..because they dry so quickly (and they don't look like Crocs :) )

I wear Easy Spirit shoes, but the people who are saying Crocs are ugly probably haven't looked at the variety of styles lately.

DD and DS alternate between their Asics running shoes and flip flops for half days. Reef for DS and Olukai for DD. DD will also wear Toms if it is a half day or less.
