tween dresses?

Coincidentally, DD and I were at Target yesterday looking for exactly what the OP is looking for, and did not have much luck - everything in juniors was short and showed a lot of skin. We did this, which was prettier in person than it is in this photo, it would probably be about knee-length on a 5' 3" girl. My DD needed a cami underneath because the neckline was a little low on her, and would wear it with a pretty cardigan.

For a younger girl you could add some leggings to that as well as a cami or shrug and be fine.

Do you have a Kohls? After getting the Target dress in my earlier post, we ended up liking this outfit better (my DD is 11 too). The skirt is above knee length but she's going to wear it with sparkly footless tights (and a cami under the top because it's low cut for an 11 yr old).

They also had some satiny peasant tops that I LOVED, and a green lacy/sequined top - any of these would look great with a simple black skirt or pants.

not sure if you are looking for party dresses or casual dresses but DD12 is 5'2" and 90lbs. She has had luck with dresses from Delias, Urban Outfitters, Wet Seal, garage and check your dept stores. She foud some stuff at macy's.

the problem with this age is that they are not quite ready for juniors and the kids stuff is too young looking.
