Twas the Night Before ... Christmas 09?! - 12/30 New TR! Please come join me!

I'll be anxiously awaiting your report on the sleigh ride, just in case we decide to go back next December. I sounds really fun! I would love to see the decorations at the camp ground, is that where you go?

A sleigh ride sounds like a great thing to do on a Christmas trip. And I agree about saying good-bye to the MK while it's all lit up at night! :thumbsup2

SO is this a solar-powered unit? :rotfl:

The pretty white stuff, for me, is pretty on Christmas morning. That's it. :rotfl:
Your revised plans sound wonderful and I love the sleigh ride. A perfect touch!
OH I agree, we are due for a major snow, hopefully it won't be before we leave or return!!

I am looking forward to the sleigh ride, too!

HI, I think so. I think it might be more through the woods between Wilderness and the Fort, though... the carriage goes its normal route through the camp ground.... I am happy to try it so I can say we did!

Thanks! I think it does too... ;) Re the castle, I know! After that evening, it would spoil my image!!! :goodvibes

How fun!!! What a great place to take a sleigh ride!

Thanks! I think so too!

Okay, so my TICKER was not cooperating, but can I just say that I am now...

LESS THAN 60 DAYS till CHRISTMAS IN DISNEY!!!!!

Okay, got that out of my system... :santa:

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND, my ticker is back :)

Yay for under 60 days! Glad the ticker is back too! Mine was also gone. We only have 40 days left! I am excited for tomorrow and to be able to say that I am under 40!!!

Hi there! I'm new!
I've read this thread from start to finish, and I feel like I'm eavesdropping on a great dinner amongst friends. Mind if I pull up a chair? :drinking1

We are planning our first Christmas trip next year, and I am trying to read as many Christmas '09 PTRs and TRs as I can to get as much info as I can! :thumbsup2

I ate at the 1900 back in dec 2006...it was a great breakfast...:thumbsup2

The Character interaction is Fabulous-Alice & Mad Hatter...&

BTW the GF looks so pretty decorated for Christmas and that Giant Gingerbread House looks and smells heavenly...(you can purchase a gingerbread shingle or an entire little gingerbread house if you'd like...)
1900 Park Fare is on our list of maybes. I will be very interested to see what you thought of it.
Do you know when the GF gingerbread house will be complete? Is it not until after Thanksgiving? We haven't officially picked a week that we are going yet, but one of the weeks we are considering is before Thanksgiving. If the resorts won't be all prettified by then, I want to wait. :santa:
I finally decided to ADD the sleigh ride.... I was debating the carriage or the sleigh, and the sleigh just looked so cute, that I have decided to go with that... there should be plenty of things to see on the ride, and while it was $60.00, I think it will be a great way to end the trip.
Lots to share with my planning binders, diagrams, countdown calendar ideas, shopping, Tshirts, etc. etc. etc!!!!! Halloween is going to be here in TWO weeks, then look out!
I am also debating the sleigh/carriage. I just can't justify the cost for just a ride, though. Do you know the cost of the FW carriage ride? I haven't seen it posted anywhere.
Your plans sound great! I think the sleigh ride would be wonderful. I've always wanted to live somewhere where it snows at Christmas and there are actual sleigh rides. That would be such an awesome chance to pretend at least! ;)

(People who live in snowy climates are probably shaking their heads at me right now, but this Southern girl loves the pretty white stuff.)
I grew up here, and I vividly remember knee deep snows at Christmas. I miss those days!!! :goodvibes

See, your ticker is even back to working now!

I KNOW I KNOW I KNOW!!! I am so thrilled :goodvibes

I can't believe I changed my stinkin ticker!:mad:Bah!!!
Aww... Well I like your christmas tree ticker!!! :)

whoo hoo for tickers and LESS THAN 60 DAYS!

I KNOW!!! I can't believe that it is now 55 days away!!!

Holy Cow!:yay:

WOW! Isn't it crazy how quickly it comes!! I can't believe it! YAY for your trip TOO!! :yay:

WELCOME!!!!! :flower3: So glad you came over! There are lots of nice people on the DIS! So you are in the right place!!!! A few of those bantering back and forth on mine are going in December, too, so catch their PTRs as well!!!

We have fun. :goodvibes

You are welcome to join in the fun and take notes! I know I am from so many of the TRs etc. that I read!!!

This is my first time ever during Christmas, so everything I am learning about for the first time, too! I don't know about the GF gingerbread house, but if you post that Question on the Christmas threads.... there are a few just all about Christmas, I bet you can get the answer! I am pretty sure the decorations are all in before Thanksgiving... :scratchin

Maybe someone on my PTR will have the answer, OR again that Christmas thread is a good one!

the Carriage ride and the Sleigh ride I think are both $60.00... I am not certain, maybe the Carriage is less, I think $40.00? It is likely the same cost as the regular season price -- look on the regular DIS info pages, "search Carriage rides" They give the pricing for all that stuff -- pirate cruises, etc. so I imagine it is there....

I hear good things about 1900 so we are trying it. I wanted to book ADRs at each resort so we would be sure to be there to see the decorations!

I remember seeing something on one of the Samantha Brown specials of the decorations at the campground in FW. Very cute because a lot of people decorate their area. :santa:

Tracy, do you remember if that's what they will see from the sleigh ride? That must have been what I saw too and it looked like so much fun!

Hey guys -- I have got to see one of these Samantha Brown specials... are they on YouTube? How can I watch them?

Re the Carriage vs. the sleigh, yeah I think the sleigh goes through the woods, NOT the campground, or at least I have not had a definitive yes or no... I just really liked the sleigh idea -- BUT the campground decor seems so much fun, too.... I am torn! I booked the sleigh, but now you have me second guessing myself!!! :confused3

Anita,

I think so.....I have all of those Disney specials saved on my DVR...she was taking a ride through the campground so I imagine it must be similar. Everyone really decked out their sites and it looked like a lot of fun. :yay:

Well, from what I remember, there were some really fun and a bit cheesy decorations that the snow birds use, it's quite the big deal in the campgrounds....
can we say lite-up flamingos, palm trees and Santa?
Try to look it up on youtube, you just might find it!

If it's good enough for Samantha, it would be good enough for me. I wish we were there a bit longer...... I would so love to see it!

Well, so I thought I would add another mini-tr to my December PTR, so you can all share a little of the fall beauty in this area...

My wedding anniversary is October 19th. And when we got married we were away in VA for the annual teacher conference day... Every year, we get ONE friday in October (usually the second week or so) off for the Maryland Teachers Conference... MY DH and I "conference together" rather than attend any special offerings... It usually involved wine tasting in Shennandoah, and staying at a cabin for an extended weekend with the family. I have never celebrated my "actual" anniversary alone, to be honest. It is too precious a time of year to go away alone, we love being outdoors with the kids and winetasting is the best past time I can think of :lmao: SO, we make an annual pilgrimage to VA.

This year the weather was wildly COLD. Like 50s cold... like where are my winter sweaters cold!!!! So sticking inside and playing board games would definitely be on our agenda! It was a rainy cold day when we left, and not much better when we returned, but we had a great time :)

Here is my front door again -- you may recall I took a few photos before my mums bloomed... They look so lovely now!

Fall2009025.jpg

Here is DS4 all bundled up in the back seat ready to get on the road!

Fall2009027.jpg

The traffic was not so hot, but it cleared up eventually.

We stopped for dinner at our favorite tavern... my DS7 is particularly pleased when we stop here (his namesake restaurant!)

Fall2009028.jpg

We got to the cabin after 7 (so it was dark)... and I put the boys to bed. The cabin was a new one for us, it was just adorable and very whimsical in decor, etc.

When we woke the next morning we had sunshine! :goodvibes

Fall2009034.jpg

Well we DID... for a few hours  I bundled everyone up and we went to our favorite destination in October -- the Graves Apple Fest! We buy a bushel or two of apples, I send a box with my DS's to their schools for classmates, and we eat the apples for a week at home... I buy the best cider, they make apple sauce right there and they have funnel cake and the best apple donuts I could describe to you we buy four orders and they are gobbled up before you can say donut! Made fresh right there! Little munchkin sized, apple sauced inside I think, AMAZING!!!!! And they have pumpkins and gourds, and animals and hay rides, and hot cider, and the most exciting item: A HAY MOUNTAIN and MAZE!!!

Fall2009041.jpg

This was about an hours worth of fun... DH and I watched and sipped cider. The boys ran crazy!!!

After the hay fun, and the apple festival, we hit a winery, and then dinner at a little italian place on the way back to the cabin..

Fall2009049.jpg

Fall2009050.jpg

The next day we were able to take a hike down the road from the cabin -- which was nice since we hadn't been able to earlier...

Fall2009055.jpg

Then it was time to pack up, have some lunch on the road and head home...
Here is my rockstar...

Fall2009060.jpg

It was a fun extended weekend... the cold weather disappeared...for we then spiked with 77 weather mid-week, then back to the low 60s this weekend and buckets of rain on Saturday but beautiful sun and cold weather today.... AND we all wonder how everyone gets sick??!! I had to slather vics baby rub on my little guy tonight after bath... very concerned he is getting ill, I really really hope he doesn't get the flu... he is starting to sound a bit congested... We'll see :headache:

SO coming up next (like tomorrow b/c I have to get to bed!) Will be our MAGICAL start to the day today... I found something I thought I had lost... and we pulled it out this morning for some fun... Stay tuned!!!

I think your family should be models in a LL Bean catalog. I suggest sending photos into the company.....
Just think of the possibilities.
Let me be your agent.

OK, your weekend just looked so fantastic! Well the hay looked a little itchy but besides that perfect!
Those boys of yours are so lucky to have parents that do such fun things with them. What wonderful memories they will have!
Those missing front teeth are just so stinkin cute!
