Well, so I thought I would add another mini-tr to my December PTR, so you can all share a little of the fall beauty in this area...
My wedding anniversary is October 19th. And when we got married we were away in VA for the annual teacher conference day... Every year, we get ONE friday in October (usually the second week or so) off for the Maryland Teachers Conference... MY DH and I "conference together" rather than attend any special offerings... It usually involved wine tasting in Shennandoah, and staying at a cabin for an extended weekend with the family. I have never celebrated my "actual" anniversary alone, to be honest. It is too precious a time of year to go away alone, we love being outdoors with the kids and winetasting is the best past time I can think of

SO, we make an annual pilgrimage to VA.
This year the weather was wildly COLD. Like 50s cold... like where are my winter sweaters cold!!!! So sticking inside and playing board games would definitely be on our agenda! It was a rainy cold day when we left, and not much better when we returned, but we had a great time
Here is my front door again -- you may recall I took a few photos before my mums bloomed... They look so lovely now!
Here is DS4 all bundled up in the back seat ready to get on the road!
The traffic was not so hot, but it cleared up eventually.
We stopped for dinner at our favorite tavern... my DS7 is particularly pleased when we stop here (his namesake restaurant!)
We got to the cabin after 7 (so it was dark)... and I put the boys to bed. The cabin was a new one for us, it was just adorable and very whimsical in decor, etc.
When we woke the next morning we had sunshine!
Well we DID... for a few hours

I bundled everyone up and we went to our favorite destination in October -- the Graves Apple Fest! We buy a bushel or two of apples, I send a box with my DS's to their schools for classmates, and we eat the apples for a week at home... I buy the best cider, they make apple sauce right there and they have funnel cake and the best apple donuts I could describe to you we buy four orders and they are gobbled up before you can say donut! Made fresh right there! Little munchkin sized, apple sauced inside I think, AMAZING!!!!! And they have pumpkins and gourds, and animals and hay rides, and hot cider, and the most exciting item: A HAY MOUNTAIN and MAZE!!!
This was about an hours worth of fun... DH and I watched and sipped cider. The boys ran crazy!!!
After the hay fun, and the apple festival, we hit a winery, and then dinner at a little italian place on the way back to the cabin..
The next day we were able to take a hike down the road from the cabin -- which was nice since we hadn't been able to earlier...
Then it was time to pack up, have some lunch on the road and head home...
Here is my rockstar...
It was a fun extended weekend... the cold weather disappeared...for we then spiked with 77 weather mid-week, then back to the low 60s this weekend and buckets of rain on Saturday but beautiful sun and cold weather today.... AND we all wonder how everyone gets sick??!! I had to slather vics baby rub on my little guy tonight after bath... very concerned he is getting ill, I really really hope he doesn't get the flu... he is starting to sound a bit congested... We'll see
SO coming up next (like tomorrow b/c I have to get to bed!) Will be our MAGICAL start to the day today... I found something I thought I had lost... and we pulled it out this morning for some fun... Stay tuned!!!
