I am currently reading Nelson DeMille's current John Corey novel about this very incident. So far, there are seven theories, the "military exercise gone wrong" being excluded due to too many people involved - massive amounts, methane gas from the ocean - um, no, and several others I can't remember. It's hard to go back on a book on Kindle!

It was just coincidence that I bought this and just started reading it this week. Didn't know about the movie until this morning.

I am open to more information regarding 800, but I think 93 was not shot down. I just can't believe that one.

A cover up by our government? Yup, wouldn't surprise me in the least. They are self serving and will lie and do what ever it takes to CYA. You can't believe half of what they say.

And if it was an accident that the government covered up, it will still be covered up with the new 'investigation'. IMO, we will NEVER know the truth.

For those who believe it was possibly a terrorist attack, why would someone blow up a plane and not take credit? How would terrorists benefit from an attack that wasn't publicly linked to their cause?

On the other hand, three different groups claimed responsibility for bringing down PanAm 103 and none of them did it. Libya never claimed responsibility at the time. Why?

The ending was jaw dropping for me. I didn't see it coming. I audibly gasped. Report back when you finish it.

I'm at a lost why they would still have the plane, if it's a big conspiracy theory. Wouldn't they want to destroy all the proof?

Because of this thread I just downloaded that book....never even crossed my radar when it first came out!!! I will definitely report back as well when done!

I am actually going to put down game of thrones and read this and then go back to GAT.

ETA: That book isn't 'current' though. Its a few years old.

I also remember the accounts of witnesses that saw something heading up to the plane before it came down. And I remember seeing an interview with some "official" I can't remember who exactly, and they were trying to explain how the witnesses perception was skewed and it was more than likely something falling FROM the plane downwards just before the explosion. He talked about how the eye would be fooled, etc.

It sounded like a convoluted bunch of crap to me, lol.

Count me as another one who always rolls my eyes at conspiracy theories...except this one.

It always bothered me that the "officials" discounted 200 eyewitnesses from various vantage points that night and said they were fooled or it was an optical illusion and what they actually saw was something falling from the plane (jet fuel) and not something going up to the plane.

I am really liking the book...I know the author has taken some literary license but some of the theories in the book are very interesting and makes you think!!!

Just finished it...which ending? The last chapter or the last sentence? I sort of suspected the last chapter but I lost track of time - darn kindle for making it so hard to look back in the book!

I liked the book. It was great John Corey and also in these times really makes you think.

Nightfall was an excellent book. I read it several years ago.
Just have to say that this proves not all conspiracy theorists are cuckoo. This is the kind of thing along with the JFK assassination, et al. which makes people believe we are not told the whole story.
