TV/VCR combo-Where to store it?

Upon reading all your posts, I broke down and bought a TV/VCR combo for our upcoming trip. We usually fly, but this year we are driving from Maryland, since we are meeting Grandma half way. I also bought the bag from Target that attaches to the seats. So I know it will be secure when we are driving.

My question is what to do with it when we reach our destination. We are not staying on property this year. I don't want to leave it in the van obviously. Unless it is in the back/trunk area and covered? It will be in the bag. What about leaving it in my hotel room? I know I wouldn't leave cash laying around a hotel, which is why they have safes. And the TV in a bag is pretty portable if you know what I mean

So, where do you guys keep your TVs when you are at the parks, etc?

Hello,
I would either leave it in the trunk or rear if it is not able to been seen too obviously. Remember that Disney has security that drives around the parking lots...especially at night. That is not a guarantee but it might help ease your mind.
I am not sure what hotel that you are staying at but if you feel comfortable with it once you arrive, then just leave it in the bottom of the closet in the room, or perhaps in a dresser drawer....Oh....if you ask at your hotels front desk, they may be able to place it in a secured area at the hotel, like a safe or a luggage "lock up" room....Just a thought!!!

Question for you...is it a regular tv/vcr or a special car one? We have a 9 inch that my dh just bungee-cords down which makes me nervous. I'd love some more info on the bag you bought.

Mowsearz, those are good suggestions. Guess I will have to see how well I trust the hotel. My friend was the GM there til not long ago, so I guess I could ask her. She's the one who got us the rooms which is the only reason I am not staying on property this time!

Vivienne, the TV is one that is made to be able to take in a car or boat, it comes with the adaptors and everything. It is 9 inches. The bag I bought straps around both of the front seats and sort of hangs between them. I bought it at Target for $49.99.

Could you tell me more about the bag you purchased? What is it called at target? Is it in the Electronics or Auto department?

Hi Cindy!
It was in the electronics department with the TVs. It is called "9" TV VCR carrying case". It is in a red and orange box. It is Target's own brand, according to the box.

We're lucky enough to have a built-in TV/VCR now, but we used to travel with the other kind. Ours was duck-taped onto a little handmade table that fit the car. We always travel with lots of stuff -- pillows, blankets, etc. When we would arrive at our hotel, we would throw a blanket over the TV. Since there was other stuff lying around in the van, it didn't look obvious. I also always tried to park under a light, when possible.

Make sure to unplug the TV from the cigararette lighter when you leave the car. We learned this the hard way, and I will say the valet guys at the poly were very efficient about getting jumper cables and getting us going again!

mine is different, it's a 5" TV called Video in a bag and when not in use in long trips , I take it down and I place it under the rear seat put away, you can't see it because our windows are tinted.

We just leave it in the van when we travel with no problems. Our windows are tinted, so as long as it's back far enough no one can see it. BTW, someone did break into our van while the TV/VCR was there. They made off with our ashtray and left the TV! They were going for the CD player we think, and a TV/VCR is hard to conceal as you run down the street.

We brought ours into the hotel ...never had a problem
