It seems like all the rage right now is to put out past and present TV series on DVD.

What do you think of this? Fun or a waste of money?

Have you bought any? Which shows would you like to see out on DVD?

So far we have bought: (and some of these are so cheesy but we couldn't help ourselves :teeth: )

*Survivor season 1
*The Simpsons season 1
*Three's Company part of season 1
*Spongebob Squarepants season 1
*The Land of the Lost (OMG this is so fun to watch and see all the horrible "special" effects you used to think were cool! LOL!
*Trading Spaces part of season 1
*Fairly Odd Parents mixture of episodes
*Battlestar Galactic - entire series
*In Living Color season 1
*Firefly (dh's.. I never watched that show)

I want to get the Mork and Mindy one that just came out - Nanu nanu :teeth:
I would love for them to put Roseanne out on DVD - I would get that one too

I haven't bought any yet, but I would really like My So-Called Life and The Family Guy.

Love the Sex and the City episodes on DVD -- don't own any, but will probably buy the last set when they come out in December. :)

I think next I'll start watching the Sopranos on DVD -- this is not a show I watch in prime time. I don't buy the DVDs though -- just rent them from netflix. :)

We bought the first season of Gilligan's Island and the kids have been loving them! :)

The market will decide.

And it appears that they have already done so by the onslaught on TV shows that have become available.

I don't think I'd want any at this point because I think they're too expensive. I might change my mind later if the pricing comes down.

Chris buys the Star Trek seasons but that is it so far. We rent alot of them though to catch up with seasons or to watch old shows we love.

So far we just have Star Trek: TNG (inspired by my tag I must say!)

On my wish list are Seinfeld and Friends. I'd also love to have Fraggle Rock and the Smurfs for my kids (and myself)! :)

Considering I refuse to get cable until I have a job, we've been watching these since April. :)

The Cosby Show
Gilligan's Island
Who's the Boss
Mad About You

They reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally need to put The Nanny on DVD!! I'm seriously in withdrawal.

We have Babylon 5, Mystery Science Theater, The Young Ones, Firefly, and a few others I can't recall off the top of my head. Most of these were gifts.

We watch them when we have time. I want to get Jeeves and Wooster, The Dead Zone, and maybe Gilmore Girls and the Family Guy.

I don't buy a lot of dvds, so if I'm going to spend that much on a tv show on dvd, it has to be one I know I'm going to want to watch over and over.

I know my bf is really anxiously awaiting Brisco County Jr. being put on DVD. And maybe Deadwood. I'm waiting for Carnivale. Also we both want Red Dwarf and Yes Prime Minister. He has Yes Prime Minister on VHS and the tapes are starting to wear out. :(

I bought the (almost) complete Sex in the City set of DVD's for DW for her birthday last year. Along with that, I have the first season of CSI and the complete series (all two seasons :p :p ) of Sports Night. :)

Love it! I have all seasons of "Friends" and watch them regularly. I would like to see more of the 80's series come out.

We've got the first season of West Wing, and I plan on getting the second season as well. My next purchase though is gonna be the 1st season of Sliders (or, maybe the Firefly one, since loved it as well).

We've bought Sports Night, the first 2 Alias sets, and we are caught up on Will and Grace and The West Wing.

We have some of the Friend's ones that Dh got from work.

I need to buy season 3 of Alias.

There are TONs I want.

I have every season of Friends released so far, 7 in all, and the final episode. I think the 8th season is coming in November. I also have the first season of "Once and Again" and "The Dick Van **** Show".

The ones I would really love to see are "The Wonder Years" and "Home Improvement".

Oh yeah, I also have season one of "The Osbournes".

For me it would be a waste of money. I'm one who doesn't like to watch things over and over. I can see maybe wanting to re-watch a season of a series every few years, but I'd rather just rent it and not have it collecting dust in my house. I hardly even like to buy movies.

Well, I think it is a great marketing idea! LOL We own:

Who's The Boss?-Season 1
Survivor-Season 1
Mad About You-Season 1
Just Shoot Me-Season 1 and 2

Pin Wizard, I couldn't agree more about The Nanny!! I love that show!! :)

I love the Nanny too, one of my all time favorites.

Once and Again- The First Season

This was my favorite show until the execs at ABC (the wonderful FAMILY network) moved it's time slot, night and put it on hiatus half a dozen times.

Then, they cancelled it despite the fact that it won Emmy awards, had continually high ratings and fans that protested relentlessly.

WHY did they do this? To make room for more of what America REALLY wants to watch-- REALITY TV and really bad sitcoms.

The other 2 seasons were never released on DVD or I'd have them too. :(

Just gotta love those executives at ABC TV-- NOT

I totally agree with this!!! This was the best show on TV at the time and they screwed it up. Then they insult us by never releasing seasons 2 & 3!!!!! I would buy those in a heartbeat, I still love that show.

We own all the seasons of Deep Space 9 and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. we are currently slogging our way through the awful season 6 of Buffy. We also own one season each of Batman the animated series, Angel and Firefly (what a great show that was).

We plan to buy Northern Exposure, Wonder Falls (when it comes out) and Quantum Leap. I keep hoping they will put Brisco County Junior out on DVD, but it doesn't look like that will ever happen.
