Hey Dis technoids -- we have a 1 year old tube TV in our office, where I am currently sitting. It's attached to a DirecTV box (not a DVR). This afternoon, the TV stopped displaying sound and picture. The DirecTV signal works, we can get the guide, etc. The TV menu shows up (from the TV, not the satellite). I've checked all the connections, the input, the channel, the power, etc (I'm usually pretty good with this stuff, but I'm baffled). Any ideas? I absolutely can't afford to replace this right now, and I may go bonkers.

Check the control to make sure you didnt press "TV" by accident.

Also make sure your DVD player is not on.

Sorry, Im not technical, but with my TVs, its usually just something I pressed accidentally!

Also make sure you didn't accidentally push the "mute" button on the remote..:)

Hubby says its the direct TV box. If you call them, they can run a test over the phone.

Update -- RCA didn't know anything, called DirecTV -- their prerecorded "helps" said to press the reset button on teh box, that did it! No money expended, didn't have to lift the dang heavy thing or anything! Thanks for your suggestions.

is it a HD tv? About a month ago our 52" did this same thing. We got the TV about 3 years ago, and one day we went to turn it on and there was no sound nor picture. We found out that the lamp blew out. We had to order a new one. It cost about $200 but it was well worth it, the thought of buying another wide screen made us sick!
