Okay this my be a dumb ? but here goes. DH and are going to the world in 3 weeks. DH wants to know if the hotel rooms have High Def. We are staying at POR. So if anyone knows can you please inform us.

no just cheap old tvs,,,but you donnt watch a lot of tv anyway...they are only 20 inches

There aren't high-def TV's at POR, but they are at the Deluxe resorts. However, WDW hasn't seemed to take advantage of HD technology yet, so the HDTV's in the Deluxes are a waste. :(

We've only stayed at deluxe resorts, and never seen any HDTV's - matter of fact, I am disappointed in the television offerings at Disneyworld. No movies on demand and the channels leave much to be desired. I think they really need to offer movies on demand. Especially nice would be DISNEY movies for those with little kids!
Sorry to rant, but the tv's that I've seen have all been regular ones with little to offer.
Hoping for a change...

Don't expect it. What people fail to understand with Disney World, is the reason the TV is limited and there is no "free" Internet in the rooms is because they want you out of the room spending money in the parks or in other parts of the resort. They won't make a lot of money offering movies on demand and such.

I agree. Of all the things Disney needs to do to fill up the resorts, the TV situation and internet are way down on the list for visitors.

Actually all rooms at the Contemporary have a computer built in with an online concierge service and since July 2006 have had free internet use on it.

Besides that I know the Contemporary, Polynesian, Grand Floridian and Wilderness Lodge all have 35 inch wide screen tv's since all their rooms were renovated, however they are not HDTV's.

I do agree that all the Resorts need better channels that you could find at offsite Hotels, however I would assume part of the reason they would not have HBO, Shootime and etc is because some of the movies and shows are not for little kids to see, so WDW wants them not to be shown at the Resorts.

:) Great minds think alike :) CR for life <3

Having stayed at two Disneyland resorts recently, I don't understand why Disneyworld doesn't have that Disney kids channel...the one where they show good cartoons and the princesses tell their stories? Both my kids love that channel but there is no real equivalent at WDW. It seems odd.

If your husband might be satisfied with at least a flat screen (a big game, perhaps?), then he'll have to just upgrade you to certain deluxe resorts. It might be worth a small innoculous suggestion.

If you look at the TV options at Disney World, they do seem to be lacking. However, Disney has to try and appeal to its guests. There are a lot of foreign speaking options available for overseas guests. There's close captioning options. There's Lifetime for the females (personally, I'd rather have something else). ESPN channels for the guys (and Disney owns ESPN). Plus the Disney theme park ones. That doesn't leave very many other options. If Disney offered HBO, someone would want Showtime or Cinemax. And then blocking devices would need to be used and if a parent didn't use one and their child accidently saw something they shouldn't have seen, Disney would be in trouble. In demand movies would have to be limited to Disney fare or G rated movies or someone could get upset. And we'd have to pay extra and there are already enough posts about extra charges at Disney World. I'd personally love to see Nick at Nite available. And TV Land. My inlaws want Animal Planet and the Weather Channel. The History Channel.

While I'm at Disney World, the TV is background noise and nothing else.
