TV in kid's bedroom? Yes/No? Limitations?

Nope. We have one tv for the whole family and one computer and plan to keep it that way. There are too many reasons NOT to do it and no decent arguments to support it.:confused3

No for many of the reasons stated by others in the same camp. If the kids want to watch TV, they can watch the family TV.

Both of mine do, they are 12 and 8. I don't think it's a big deal. They have very limited tv time during the week if any at all. DS only uses his for his xbox, which he can only use on the weekends. I also have a tv in my room.

We have family movie night on most Friday's and pile into our bed and hang out and watch tv together.

Yes. We aren't huge TV watchers, and what we do watch is mostly as a family. However, after we subscribed to Netflix, we would have to wait until after the kids' bedtime to watch our movies, and the kids would play their movies on the living room tv, making it impossible for us to watch the one or two shows we do watch. (And while we COULD watch their movies with them, who REALLY wants to see Air Buddies Part 18 or my son's constant queue full of great moments in Packers football? I mean, how many times can you watch the Ice Bowl if you're not 10?) Right around then, our little old tube tv developed a greenish tinge in one corner and I got dh a flat screen for Valentine's Day. So we put the slightly greenish TV and a DVD player in my daughter's room so they could watch their Netflix movies. Later, it was moved to my son's room and the gamecube was hooked up to it (since we now have a Wii downstairs). They can't get any actual TV channels on it, so we have a good degree of control over what they are watching. And if they both want to play video games, they don't have to agree on what to play.

I never expected to put a TV in their rooms. But they both still read themselves to sleep, participate in many activities, and make good grades. So what's the harm? :confused3

Yes, they both have a TV, DVD/VHS player with satallite so they can watch their favorite kid shows.

DGD (11) has a TV/DVD/VCR in her room and never, ever turns it on.. It's a dust collector..:rotfl: She reads when she's in her room..

She prefers to watch tv or movies with the entire family; with me; or with her mom..:goodvibes

I think it depends on the child - and/or their age - as well as other interests..

I don't have one in mine so they don't get one in theirs. I'm okay with that.

It is not a reflection of what I feel parents should or should not decide to do with their own children.

As for computers, we will go to multiple computers. My justification is for homeschooling purposes and better time management of computer time. Kind of like a computer lab.
