TV dinners from the 70s

Well I wasn't a "kid" in the 70's - I had kids by then - LOL - but on the rare occasion I had one, it would be the turkey with the stuffing and mashed potatoes..

I find the microwave dinners of today to be pretty nasty.. There is one Kids Cuisine I like - the All American Fried Chicken - and the chicken is the only part that I like..

Stouffer's stuffed peppers are pretty good - if you cook them in the oven.. :)

We loved the meatloaf with tomato sauce, green beans, tater tots and a brownie. Too Funny!

oh, the memories!!!

those swanson TV dinners - there was even one with a slice of baked ham, whipped sweet potatoes - yum!

favorite was turkey, and when the pat of butter melted into the potatoes: heaven! :cloud9:

even remember there was a chinese dinner version that came with a mini egg roll and a mini fruit eggroll!

now if they could only bring back the chun king shrimp mini egg rolls...

Hot open turkey dinner with corn nibblets and mashed.
My mom was not a cook.

Those things were so good! I find most things taste better baked in the oven than in the microwave too.

You just took me back. My Mom used to buy them once in a while when we were kids. I loved the Swanson Fried Chicken too. My Mom cooked every night so these dinners were treats for us. She also bought those frozen pot pies, ans we loved them.

Oh man I loved the Salsbury Steak!! My mom cooked dinner every night so we looked forward to the few times a year mom and dad went out and we had babysitters and would get a tv dinner. mmmm Heck even having hamburgers (homemade) would be a treat. We never had anything processed when I was a kid. I try to do the same for my kids but admit I'm not as good as my mom. Those dang chicken nuggets & fries can be so convenient on a Friday night after a day of work.

We used to get the Mexican ones-mine the one with three little soggy tacos and refried beans, my mom and dad got enchiladas. That was a great time back then!

Another one that remembers the good old TV dinners in the aluminum pan. I think Swanson was the brand my mom would buy. TV were a treat in our house, only fixed when mom and dad were going out. Does anyone remember the Morton mini donuts that you baked in the oven?

I loved Morton's cinnamon sugar mini donuts and the honey buns. Trader Joes just started selling frozen jelly filled donuts, but they are really muffins. Not great.

These were also a treat in our house, Mom cooked almost every night... I was in love with the Swanson Fried Chicken! They were the good ole days..:goodvibes Thanks for a Great Thread :thumbsup2

MMmmmmm Back when everything at the grocery store had to be labeled since there were no scanners and cashiers had to type in all the amounts. I remember thinking they were SO fast at typing in the amounts.

My mom cooked all the time, so I had to BEG her to buy these!

My favorite was the fried chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, and brownie! But I loved the turkey and 'dressing' (which was really just croutons) with the peas/carrots, mashed potatoes, and cranberry/apple compote, too!

Oh my goodness....do you know how much fat and/or sodium were in those things? I can feel my arteries hardening just thinking about them!

Mmmm...the Swanson Fried Chicken. We only got them rarely. DH on the other hand, ate them every night. His mom doesn't cook at all...well I guess she heated those up, so maybe that counts, and his dad was often deployed so it was just him and his mom.
