This afternoon my tv (it was almost 4 years old) made a popping sound and died. I talked to the people at Best Buy and she said it would cost more to fix that it is worth.

So I need suggestions for a good, budget friendly tv. It is for my bedroom so under 24 inches is best. My budget is $200-$250. I am just not sure what the difference is between LCD, LED, or Plasma and which one is the best option.

Thanks.

Just go to a Sam's Club or Wal-mart and stroll through their flat-screen selection. I don't think you'll have any problem finding something in your price range. Flat Screen prices right now are excellent! If you aren't afraid of on-line buying, you can check out tigerdirect.com, they often have some great buys.

For the size you're after, plasma isn't even really an option. LED may be an option, but LCD is probably more than adequate for a bedroom. It's rare to find TVs at such size in 1080p, so you likely won't have to choose between 720 and 1080. Either way, at the smaller size, the difference isn't as noticable anyhow.

Price point will be easy to meet... go to any Best Buy, or similar, and you'll find plenty of options.

I got a great deal on a very nice white 20in Vizio at BJ's for $134. Wish I had bought a 2nd one for my kitchen. Has a beautiful picture. I really recommend BJ's. I was in the same situation as you. TV in the bedroom just went up and needed a new one right then and there. We have to have our bedroom tv!! :rotfl2: So I didn't have weeks and weeks to shop. I gave myself a week tops! Good Luck to you. I hate having to make a purchase under pressure. I like being able to leisure shop. :goodvibes

Vizio makes some pretty good affordable TVs. LG's are also good but may be a little more expensive than the Vizio. Also, if you are a member at Costco, I would advise buying from them. They extend any manufacturers warranty to two years and offer you the ability to get a 5 year warranty.

Others have posted some valuable info regarding HD, plasma, etc.

I just wanted to let you know that many places are having HUGE TV sales this weekene because of the SuperBowl. It is prime TV buying season.
Good luck.

We are getting a new TV for our bedroom in the next couple of weeks. We are looking at something like a 32" and they have them at Target for very good prices. We have bought TVs from there in the past couple of years and have no problem whatsoever.

As someone else said, with the Superbowl coming up, there will be tons of deals on TVs starting Sunday. Great time to buy.

Thanks for all the advice. I hate not having a lot of time to research and needing to buy replacements on the fly.

Thanks again for all the great advice. It turns out that I actually have a product replacement plan with Best Buy. When I talked to them yesterday she was unable to locate anything under my name. Well I got to thinking about it this morning and I remember that we used my mom's credit card to buy it so sure enough they found the plan under her name. It will save me a lot of time and money.

But my Grandma needs a new tv so I will pass this information along to her.
