Tuxedo questions

Has anyone rented formalwear on the cruise?

There just won't be room for my giant ivory ballgown. So, I'm thinking I can wear a tuxedo, but instead of the pants, which I think wouldn't look good on me, I will wear a long black skirt. Can anyone comment on this in a helpful way? Can I just rent the tails, the shirt and the cumberbund or vest?

From what I recall they are not inexpensive. (DH just brings a black suit now and a white sport coat) You could just get a fancy top to wear with the black skirt, like a glittery one. I don't think they rent tuxes in piecemeal but maybe they do,? If you are really wanting the tux I would suggest checking on ebay, I bet you could purchase one there for less then renting one.

This is the company that supplies the ship. They do carry women's stuff, but do not supply it to the DCL, the link to DCL will show what combos you can rent. Looks like you have to take the whole outfit. Might be cheaper to buy a LBD that packs small.

i just thought about it and we have our documents now.. I just pulled out the formalwear sheet that comes with them from cruiseline formalwear.. here are the prices
black tuxedo..$85.00
white dinner jacket package $85.00
Black and white combo (2 coats with package) $120.00
black formal shoes $12.
pair of socks (yours to keep) $6.00
vest and tie $15.00
suspenders $5.00

I have rented one just to save the packing hassle.. I think I will this cruise..

Hey, don't laugh! Dark socks for DH were the one thing I forgot! Fortunately, I remembered them on the drive down, and we stopped at Walmart.
