Tutto Italia - reviews? Best dishes?

The bread, dipping oil and veggies are given to everyone, not just DDP

I think now they are pickled veggies instead of the fresh ones that I had back in April, I will let you know in a few weeks when I do another LIVE review (thanks so much for your kind words, glad you liked the reviews).

THe bolognese sauce is typically made with ground beef, veal and sometimes pork. THis was very good but DH thought it would have more of a tomato base instead of a savory one but he enjoyed it all the same.

I have not seen a very current menu but I know they did change it around some. I will try and take pictures of the menu too.

Just there a few weeks ago and the veggies are pickled now - they were really yummy.

Tutto was awesome!! I had buccatini gratinati and DH had fish - both were excellent and good portion sizes. Desserts are yummy. Nice atmosphere and the service was excellent (probably the best on our trip). We loved it and would definately go back.

Be forewarned if you are not on the DDP, Tutto is a little pricey but very much worth it. :)

You know, I just found that about 20 minutes ago and saw that part also. I wondered how current they keep that page. I noticed the menus were from a year ago, so hoped that part was older also! I wonder though, I do have an ADR already so I wonder if they would give one if they were anticipating being closed for that time period? You'd think they'd know by now. It also says they anticipate it being open by Fall 2008 and they haven't started yet, so that schedule seems off a bit. Plus, I thought they changed in the not too distant past, a yr or 2 ago? I wonder how much the food would change then? Hmmm, I don't know, hope they don't mess this up for me, maybe if they are going to do it, they will finish by mid Nov. But, hopefully they'll just hold off! :goodvibes

I checked the rehab page after I posted this and it doesn't show anything about Tutto, so I'm not sure what is up with that listing on their restaurant page, but hopefully it means good news for your November ADR. Hope you have a good review after you eat there. Sounds like a great place to eat when we go next June.

the sachetti is amazinngggg!!! we ate there when they were still testing out the new menu and the sachetti wasn't on the menu but the waiter suggested it saying the chef was trying to get thoughts on it. it was so good that we almost ordered another order. :)

We ate there last week and really loved it!

This is what I had... Bucatini Gratinati with Italian prosciutto ham, peas and parmesan cream $24. It was one of those dishes that is baked into the dish, so it had a crusty type top and was very hot (through and through). I loved it and my DH shared a bit of it & also loved it. Yum!

DH got the Sacchetti - pasta pillows filled with ricotta and mozzarella cheese and pomdoro sauce $25. He loved it. I had one and thought it was very good.

My Stepdaughter had the Tagliolini con Granchio, Pomodorini Alle Erbe - tagliolini pasta topped with crabmeat, sweet tomato and garlic $27. She loved it and thought it was really good.

For appetizers, we had the Fresh "Bufala" Mozzarella & the Calamari. I don't always love calamari, but I thought this was excellent. We also enjoyed the bread & breadsticks, which they were more than happy to bring more. We also thought the service was top notch.

We ate here because Le Cellier was booked up and I'm not glad that we had the chance to try out a new restaurant. It was a wonderful surprise and I'd go back in a heart beat. :goodvibes

Arrghgh, my quoting thingy isn't working!

Thanks for checking on the rehab thing. I'm hoping that with them taking my ressie, that means they definitely will be open, would think they wouldn't want to do that if they were going to shut down and they should know by now if they were going to close!

Can you guys describe the Sachetti pillows, are they very cheesy? Are they just like cheesy ravioli?

The Bucatini Gratinati sounds so awesome everytime I read about it! Maybe I can get DD18 to order it!

Still wondering if anyone thinks the chef may make a request of a dish that used to be on the menu(tagliatelle egg noodles with bolognese or something like that)? I sounded so great and I'm hoping they will do it! Does anyone know if it's something they are likely to do?

Thanks for all the great reviews, everything sounds so delicious and I can't wait to go eat there! :goodvibes

Hmm...they weren't very cheesy. I would say they are almost like ravioli but I think the cheese was actually 'lighter' and not as heavy. The pasta used to wrap the cheese was thinner then ravioli dough too. SO GOOD! My mouth is watering now thinking about them.

As for special ordering the dish that used to be on the menu, it won't hurt to ask. Just keep in mind it might be a different chef altogether so he might not know what you're talking about? Doesn't hurt to ask though. They're always so accommodating (or at least try to be!)

Do they have Oso Bucco on the Menu?

Nope :( Here are their 'non-pasta' dishes..

Fish Filet "all'acqua pazza" with clams, tomato, capers and olives $34

Salmone al forno - baked salmon filet over fagiolini beans with a fresh tomato relish $29

Branzino in Padella - striped bass filet with sweet tomatoes, zucchini and Sardinian "fregoal" $35

Costoletta Di Maiale - grilled pork chop with broccoli rabe and "mostarda di mele Campanine" $30

Petto di Pollo - over roasted chicken breast with tomatos and mozzarella, served with roasted potatoes $26

Pollo Al Mattone - roasted-pressed chicken with lemon, herbs and hot red peppers $26

Tagliata di Manzo with fennel and arugula salad $36

do you think they would be willing to substitute a sauce? I don't eat tomatoes (allergic and I don't like them) I love a good bechemel or parmesan cream or really any white sauce...

I'm 99.9% sure they will. I don't see why they won't! Tony's substituted a sauce for us once...I'm sure Tutto will!

While we found Tuttu Italia amazing. We ate there twice 2 weeks ago and I added 2 more stops on our trip in January...I have to say that they had the strangest policies of any restaurant we have ever been to. basically no substitutions. I wanted pasta instead of potatoes and they wouldn't do it? It worked out great as the potatoes were amazing but why would you not substitute pasta. Both DH and I have worked in restaurants and catering for 20 years and all you have to do with pasta is grab a handful???
Very strange. Anyway i just wanted to give everyone a heads up. Weird policies but amazing food.

My Dbf and I LOVED Tutto last Jan!

I had some white wine mushroom chicken thing that was DIVINE!

My Dbf had marnaria with meatballs, which was very good, but he wanted my dish after he tried it.

Tutto also has a VERY good bottle of sparkling wine that was only $18. Talk about a good price!

I can't recommend it, I have given it THREE tries because my DD loves it. She is 7!

First time was right after they opened and we got a still frozen appetizer. They could not replace it because ALL of it was frozen.

Second the serevice was so bad I had to get a manager.

Third time my chicken was badly overcooked.

I seriously get a better meal at Olive Garden.

REALLY? We had our 2 best meals there. The dessert with the berries was to die for and my Chicken at dinner was so good DH wanted it but I couldn't stop eating!
I used to work at OG and the food is consistant but not nearly as good or craveable as Tutti was/is.
Sorry you havn't had great experiences

We have been there a couple of times since it opened. The first time was very good, the last time was just OK. We are going down tomorrow so I will give it another try next week. I love to sit outside, it is one of so few places that you can do that.

ohhh the dessert was amazing it was the chicken that was terrible. Even my 7 year old wouldn't eat it.

I was being facetious about Olive Garden. That isn't a place that I frequent if I can help it but my point is, the food that I have had at Tutto Italia on 2 separate occasions was presented prettier, sounded more delicious but was actually less palatable than your basic chain Italian Restaurant.
