Went for lunch last week.
Calamari app - not good. Really greasy and overdone. If you enjoy calamari, don't order it here. I couldn't eat it - too gross.
For the entree I had a baked pasta dish - forget the name - fat spaghetti with ham and peas in an alfredo sauce. It was pretty good. I enjoyed it - but it was definitely did not taste like a better itialian restaurant. It tasted like Olive Garden tastes when I am hungry. Not bad at all.
For dessert, I got the cannoli to go and ate it at 11pm after storing it in the room fridge. It was DELICIOUS! I have thing for cannoli after developing an unhealthy "relationship" with Termini Italian Pasticceria in Philadelphia's Italian Market District. Supposedly, Termini is tops - but the cannoli at Trutto Italia gave Termini a run for their money.
On the flip side, my DD was not happy with her dish. She ordered the child's pasta. It was a simple pasta with white sauce - nothing added - no flavor. She probably would have enjoyed it with a side of veggies or some peas tossed in. It just needed something. For her, it was like baby food.
As far as the formality is concerned, I wouldn't worry. It "appears" formal - but the service isn't formal. When I am in a formal Italian restaurant, they keep soiled plates off the table, replace my silver, remove crumbs from my table in between courses, etc.... None of this was going on. So, the service is not formal. I wouldn't worry. Don't let the chandelier fool you.
