Tutto Italia - No Single Diners Allowed?

Just got off the phone with Disney Dining trying to make a reservation at Tutto Italia for my upcoming solo trip. Although they had openings, I was told I could not book a reservation there because they have no tables for one and are only allowed to book 'complete' tables.

Not feeling the Magic right now...

That is aweful!! You have every right to eat there as a single!!

I am usually against lying about party size, but in this case, I have to agree with the PP: book for a table of two.

You mean they can't put a party of 3 at a table for 4 because that's not a complete table? Have they even got tables for 3 or 5?

Now I think I will go over there and see if they'll let me in.

Yeah, my first thought was to just book a table for two, but I just find this to be so wrong. I shouldn't have to lie to be able to get a table... :sad2:

I don't know if Tutto has tables for three, but the CM said they could not put three people at a four-top there either. I know it's a new restaurant and they want to fill it, but come on, this is ridiculous.

I would try calling again. You might have one of the CM's who doesn't know how to do their job properly.

I was able to make an ADR for a party of one at Tutto Italia! No problems; no issues. Sounds like you had a misinformed person "helping" you. I've never had problems getting ADRs at any disney restaurant for just one. As a matter of fact, I have ADRs for my next trip at Narcoossee's, Flying Fish, Cali Grill, Artist Point, and Jiko's.

I would keep trying. Hang up and call again kind of thing. Seems as though you may get someone who knows more and who will help you. I can't believe Disney would treat guests like that, my first though would be that the CM you got was just misinformed.

I ate there by myself a month ago no problem.

The only time I've been denied a reservation at a restaurant as a solo traveler is when they have run out tables for two.

Call back and try again. That's what I do when I don't get an answer I like.

Call back! I ate there last year (got a reservation by happening to be in Guest Relations earlier in the day!) and I'm eating there again this year, assuming they haven't closed for renovations by the time I arrive.

There's no such thing as a table for one person - what would it be, eighteen inches wide by twelve inches across? Puh-leeze!

What there is, on the other hand, is tables that are bookable for one-two, tables that are bookable for two-four, etc. But come on - to deny a solo diner?

I would try calling again. I can't see disney ever saying something like this. That CM was definitely misinformed. I could see some large lawsuits for discrimination for something like this.

Exactly. My gosh, there are GUIDE BOOKS out there about going to Disney World as a solo traveler.

Update: Called back this morning and was able to book with no problem. :thumbsup2

Sometimes I really wish they would train the CM's better... A lot of people probably wouldn't even try back after being told "No" and would be left with the impression that Disney isn't very friendly to solo travelers.

Anyway, this is my first solo trip AND I get to try a new restaurant so I'm on :cloud9: .

:thumbsup2

that means I don't have to try and eat there just to see if they'll let me in, it's far too overpriced for my taste.

I do have to say that more and more, no matter how much you train people to do their jobs, some people just will not do them correctly.

I have dined there alone, and had no trouble obtaining a res. I DID have trouble getting a res for 1 at Le Celier any day (for lunch!) during my 12 day trip last year.. They didn't have any 2 tops left, so I hung up and made a res for 3. I just told them there would only be 1 at the check in counter. Yes, a lie.. but it is not exactly fair to deny me because I was a solo diner is it? Oh, and BTW, they sat me at a 2 top....
