DH and I are debating these two restaurants. We like great food. Doesn't mean pricey, just good. We like all types of food, but know when it's not good. If you HAD to pick which restaurant offers better food, please let us know. Both menus are appealing.

We did both on our last trip 1/09 but this year we are only doing the Yak n Yeti. Tusker House was good but we all thought that the Yak n Yeti had better food and was a must do for our up comming trip.

Yak & Yeti for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!
We've been there twice and both times have had excellent service and food.

I have to agree with the pp. We have been to both, and while Tusker House is good, Yak and Yeti is definately better!

We had lunch at Tusker House last year and DW and DC all agreed that it was nasty.

We are going to try the Donald Breakfast there in a week.

Yak & Yeti! Don't go for the normal beef & broccoli or sweet & sour whatever. My suggestion would be the ribs. They are outstanding! I am not a rib fan. The only reason I ordered the ribs was because my husband was torn between the Crispy Mahi Mahi and the ribs. Since we were on the Deluxe Dining Plan I knew I would have more than enough food. Once the ribs were placed in front of me I decided to give them a try. I was so happy that I did. This was the first order of ribs I have ever eaten in a restaurant. At home I only eat the pork ribs that I can easily get the meat off with a fork & knife.

My husband loved his Crispy Mahi Mahi as much as I loved my ribs. We loved Yak & Yeti so much that we gave up our Le Cellier reservation to go back a second time. We are planning on going to Y&Y twice this trip.

But I'm worried that I may not get to eat my ribs. Just recently I found out that I can't have any form of gluten and the ribs have it. Would you believe Y&Y was the first place I called the day after I found out? That is how much I love the ribs!

I hope you don't mind but I'm going to post some pictures for you.

Everything we had was outstanding!!! Don't order all of this for only two people. It is much more than two people can handle. The ribs are enough for two, especially with an app and dessert.

Ribs - I think this normally comes with fried rice, but I ordered the white rice and loved it.

My husband enjoying the ribs after he inhaled his Mahi Mahi. Since I loved them so much he barely touched his rice to save room for the ribs. ;) He knew if I was loving them that he was going to really enjoy them.

This picture was just too cute!

This is the trio of sorbet. I think it was lemon, raspberry and mango.

The fried wanton & pineapple dessert - YUMMY!!!

We loved Yak & Yeti and will certainly be going again next time.
I had the glazed duck, DH had the miso salmon.

The only negative about this place is the temperature, it was freezing cold when we first went in. We actually asked for a table in a not so cold area, even DH was cold and that doesn't happen easily.

As for Tusker House, we've only done breakfast there which was great too. Can't judge for lunch or dinner.

we liked Tusker House for breakfast, but NOT for lunch/dinner. the food was not our taste. we really liked Yak and Yeti.

we filled up on the macaroni and desserts, not the couscous!

We couldn't decide, so we are doing both in 2 weeks. Y&Y for lunch, TH for dinner. Hope I like them both after reading this thread... :(

LOVE THE PICTURES! And the rib advice. So sorry you can't enjoy them again. I made a lunch ADR so I am happy! :thumbsup2

Glad you enjoyed the pictures. When I talked with the manager of Y&Y he said they make them the night before - no wonder they are so yummy! Anyway, it would be difficult to make them taste right without the sauce. But he is going to make me some safe lettuce cups. He was so friendly and helpful.

I have to say that WDW does it right for people with food allergies and other issues regarding food. They really go out of their way to make sure you get a safe and great tasting meal!

Try the steak! Maybe they can make it without gluten, and grill the shrimp instead of the tempura. I agree the ribs are good, but the steak is equally outstanding.

Also (doubt it's gluten free), the green beans (shown in one of the pics) are delish. My dd12 and I like to sit at the bar and have them for a snack.

Yak and Yeti had great food -- I had the lettuce wraps appetizer, the crispy Mahi Mahi, and the fried wonton dessert (photos posted in this thread). It was absolutely delicious and the draft beer at Yak and Yeti was great too. Ate there Oct. 2009.

Last Year 2008, we had dinner buffet at Tusker House and it too was absolutely delicious. I liked the buffet with so many choices... much of the food had wonderful spices. And the bread pudding dessert is incredible - that alone is worth a trip to Tusker house.

My suggestion..... go to both... But do different days because both places will fill you up. I can't comment about cost, we were on the Deluxe DDP and I only looked at the total so I could figure the tip.

Oh man, Chell, your pics are giving my tummy happy memories! I really love Yak and Yeti, and I agree with a PP about ordering one of the specialties like the steak and shrimp or the ribs -- something besides the usual chinese dish. That's where the place really seems to shine. I also adore the cream cheese wonton dessert -- I was a little sad while eating it to know that I could only ever have it again at Disney!

We've only been to Tusker House for Donald's Safari Breakfast. The food was tasty and fresh, and I think the restaurant is really beautiful. I've not had their lunch/dinner, but I have read it's sorta like a "Boma lite" (we LOVE Boma).

Tough choice, but I'd vote Y&Y!!!!!

Yak & Yeti, the ribs are fantastic. We ate tehre last week & that meal and La Cellier were the two best.

Yak & Yeti gets my food. It has great food and the atmosphere is nice.

We've yet to go to Yak and Yeti, but I can tell you we will *NEVER* go to Yak and Yeti again. ( neither of the 15 of our group ). That being said, some people seemed to like it, so to each their own. But for us, it felt like cheap food dressed up like asian food. We live in Montreal, which has a fairly large Chinatown and maybe we're spoiled, but for example, one of us had a dish that was bascially chicken nuggets in a sauce and they called it an asian meal.. I dunno...

And to add to that, we're NOT picky eaters, we actually like Rainforest Cafe ( not our FAVORITE, granted, but we like it fine enough ). Looking forward to trying out Tusker House. Have not been ever since it became a sit-down buffet.
