Tusker house vs. Chef mickey

We can make either work on our upcoming trip. Which one would you recommend? Traveling with DH and DD (age 4) in August. If we don't do tusker house will do yak n yeti on our AK day.

Tusker House all the way.

Characters at Tusker are a little different - Mickey, Goofy, Donald, and Daisy.

CM is Mickey, Pluto, Goofy, Minnie, Donald

They are different. Different food. Different atmosphere. I like both, but I am in the minority. If you can only choose one, and honestly I would only chose one because the characters will be pretty much the same at both, I would choose the one that is the easiest to manage for my family. For instance, if you want to eat in DAK, choose TH. If you want a non park TS restaurant on an arrival night, go for CM.

We like both too! Both are on our list for every trip. While we love CM dinner, we love TH breakfast. Both are so fun! We have never had a bad experience at either. CM has Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto. TH has Donald, Mickey, Daisy, and Goofy.

Would your DD like to see Minnie and Pluto or Daisy? I'm not sure if Daisy is still meeting in the parks, but I know you can see Mickey and Minnie together, in their safari gear, at Adventures Outpost in AK. As far as I know, this is the only place you can see Mickey and Minnie together and you can get a FP+ for this meet. And Pluto and Goofy meet together in Dinoland USA, in AK, at the gas station. There is no FP+ for this meet.

I'm squarely in the Chef Mickey camp. We had our worst Disney meal experience ever at Tusker House, and I agree with the people who say the food is akin to Golden Corral. The times I've ever eaten there, I've struggled to find enough to satisfy me outside of the desserts. Plus, they do that pushy picture sales pitch at the table, which is infuriating (at least they were still doing it the last time we ate there in 2014).

Chef Mickey, on the other hand, is pure joy. We could go anywhere we wanted to celebrate my wife's birthday and our wedding anniversary, which occur in the same week. She always picks Disney World because she wants her birthday dinner at Chef Mickey. It's such a cool location with the monorail in plain sight. Plus, the raucous laughter of happy children is inimitable. Also, the desserts are phenomenal.

I realize that a lot of people love Tusker House, but for me, this read could just as easily be titled, "Name Your Least Favorite and Favorite Walt Disney World table service meals." Those answers legitimately are Tusker House and Chef Mickey (only Kona Cafe is right there with Chef Mickey for me).

I would go for Tusker House as the food is better compared to Chef Mickeys but also because the characters at CM were quite rushed. Pluto was there though so if you were to ask my son he's go for Chef Mickeys purely for that!

Tusker House for sure. We don't mind Chef Mickey, but it's way down near the bottom of our list (last time we were there, there were quite a few dirty plates in the pile, and the service was ok but not as good as it should have been).

Tusker House has better food and we've always had great service. It's one of our must-do places each trip.

We enjoyed a great breakfast and character interaction at Tusker House. Love that juice! Chef Mickey's food was bland and the characters were rushed.

I know you didn't ask, but hands down our favorite character meal ever was at the Garden Grill in Epcot. Yummy food and great characters! Mickey even sat down with us and helped my kids eat their desserts!

We've done both multiple times, but the one we keep going back to every trip is TH. Not only would I take TH of CM, but I personally avoid Y&Y like the plague -- had too many bad experiences there. Win-win!
