Alright, we've got a decision to make for our Animal Kingdom day lunch . . .

Tusker House, with the Nemo show "preferred seating"

or

Yak & Yeti

It will be 4 adults (us and my parents) and my 2 picky girls - any advice is welcome!

While we've never done Yak & Yeti, I can say that Tusker House is one of our favorite restaurants on all of WDW property :) My 2 girls are super-picky eaters, but they find quite a bit that they like @ Tusker's buffet :) Good luck in your decision!

I've never ate at Yak & Yeti but i've ate at tusker house and it was really good we are going back to tusker house this June can't wait.

I miss the old Tusker House, it used to be the best QS at WDW . . .

Anyway...I was making the same decision myself. I haven't had TS at either, but decided on Yak & Yeti. We are staying at AKV, and will have breakfast at Boma and a meal at Sanna, so I figured we would have had our fill of the African flavors and decided to go for Asian. And I can't wait to try the wontons for dessert!!

We really enjoyed Yak and Yeti. My picky eating children really liked the rice. But I'm also looking forward to trying the Tusker House for lunch. We've only had breakfast there.

Both are good - if you are trying to maximize your time in the park getting the preferred seating at Nemo is nice, we did it last December. Otherwise the question is ~ do you have a preference for buffet or table service? You can't go wrong with either choice. :thumbsup2

We love Yak & Yeti! I have picky boys as well and my oldest (9) loves that he can get chicken fried rice with his hamburger! :thumbsup2 I would suggest checking out the kids menu on www.allearsnet.com for Yak & Yeti to make sure for yourselves.

Thanks for all the guidance y'all!

We're still not sure . . .

- Kid's menus: Either one will please 1, and only 1, of the 2 kids. Flip a coin, lol.

- Nemo Show: We've done it before, but it was 2.5yrs ago and my girls were much younger (dd#2 doesn't remember any of it). We did the Lion King show last trip, so we're likely to do Nemo this trip. I guess it comes down to whether we want to wait in line or not.

- We'll be doing Tusker House for breakfast that morning (pre rope drop, yay!), so it's also a question of whether we go back (where we'd be more in control of our time since it's a buffet, and we'd get the preferred Nemo seating).

- That pineapple/cream cheese/wonton dessert does sound mighty tempting!

Yak & Yeti!!!!!! I see you have your eye on the pineapple cream cheese wonton dessert - it's fantastic!!! I've eaten at both places - Tusker House is fine but Yak & Yeti is excellent! The atmosphere, food, service, and yummy "adult" beverages make it one of my favorite WDW dining experiences!:goodvibes

I second for Yak & Yeti especially for the Fried Cream Cheese Wontons. Pure heaven!!!! :cloud9:

We have a 1:10pm ADR and it falls in the window for preferred seating at NEMO. Do you have to specify the prefered seating on the ressie or is it a given if your ADR is within the said window? I had made the ressie before I ever saw the note about the NEMO show.

I love Tusker House, so my vote is there.

It is a buffet w/ a kids section (corn dog nuggets yes!) so I'm sure your girls will find something they like & they can pick a little at everything.

Here's the kids menu for Y&Y:

Kids Entrees - For ages 9 and under. A choice of a mini burger, chicken bites, vegetable lo mein, or an egg roll. All items served with choice of carrot sticks, applesauce cup, fruit punch gelatin or chicken fried rice. Add a kid-sized portion of milk or apple juice in a souvenir cup. Soft drinks or French fries available upon request. Ice cream sundae for dessert

It's my understanding that any ADR in that time window (1:00 - 1:40p) gets "preferred seating" for the 3:15 Nemo Show.

From what I've seen of the menus - it's really a matter of pleasing one of my children, and not the other, either way.

Tusker House: older dd will go for PB&J, dd#2 nothing
Y&Y: older dd will go for nothing, younger dd will do the chicken bites

I've already informed both of them that they can eat or not (their choice) wherever, but I will *not* listen to them whine if they choose not to! :lmao:

I have to say I'm a HUGE fan of Yak & Yeti. I've eaten there several times -- both at the bar and at tables -- and the food is some of the best I've had in mid-level table-service restaurants at Disney. I like the decor, as well. Tusker House is fine, but it just doesn't feel as "special" to me as Yak & Yeti does...

we did not like Yak and Yeti..bad service and bad food. We love Tusker House..it is a must do for us...and the Nemo show is probably the worst show in all of disney..we were very disappointed.

Wok fried green beans at Y&Y with that sweet chili dipping sauce. So good. Might need to rearrange plans for my trip in 2 days to find time to get some!:rolleyes1

Tusker House was delicious!!! Plus, being a buffet, your kiddos might be a little more adventurous. Y&Y, for us, was terrible (& we tried it twice). Maybe we ordered the wrong items (we love almost all forms of Asian food), but we never plan to return.

I'd go with Tusker House. The food at Y&Y was horrible when we were there in February.
