Would you do Tusker House Character meal for lunch or Garden Grill for Dinner?

Who is usually at the Tusker House with Donald?
Who is usually at the Garden Grill? Is it just farmer Mickey and Chip & Dale?

Who has the best meal?
Who has the best interaction?

How long are you at either place? Are you at the Garden Grill longer because it is a dinner?

I looked through my Tusker House breakfast pics from last year and I have Donald, Daisy, Mickey, and Goofy. I don't know what the food at lunch is like, but the breakfast was great. I've heard the lunch/dinner buffet have some of the best variety though.

I don't have any pics from Garden Grill because my phone was dead, but I remember Mickey and Pluto, in addition to Chip and Dale. The food was good, but there wasn't a lot of variety - some meat, some fish, some potatoes, some veggies. That works for some people and not others. (I don't mind.) The berry cobbler dessert was tasty.

My preference is Tusker House. We did it for breakfast last time and loved it!!! Donald was there for a photo. Then Daisy, Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, and Goofy all danced around the dining hall to get the kids involved.

Garden Grill was good too. I remember Chip and Dale, Goofy and Pluto. Garden Grill also slowly spins so you may want to keep that in mind too.

We went to Garden Grill in '06 and '07 but skipped it during our '13 trip. We did try Tusker House last year though. Perhaps the time that has passed has skewed my view and memory but Garden Grill seemed like more of a secluded personal visit from the characters. While Tusker House you are right next to all the other tables with others in your background in all the pics, etc. Personally we enjoyed Garden Grill more.

Our Recommendations:
. . . appys:... Living-with-the-Land Harvest-inspired Farmer’s Salad
. . . entree:.. Turkey Breastwith Lemon Caper Sauce
. . . dessert:. Skillet Cakewith Vanilla Bean Whipped Cream

NOTE1: The eatery revolves within The Land pavilion and portions of spin include farm
scenes from the boat ride. The food is plentiful, but quality merely average. You pay for
the characters and not the food or food quality. Food is served family style and there is
always more, as it is All You Care To Enjoy. Characters include Mickey, Pluto, Chip-n-Dale.
As the eatery is one of the smaller character locales, the character interaction is GREAT.

NOTE2: The lower deck tables have one-side seats which can make talking among the
table diners tough, especially if you have six-to-eight people, which takes about 12-feet
in linear distance. This means that you cannot easily stand to interact with characters.
The upper has standard tables that seat people facing each other and you can stand and
interact. I recommend upper tier for characters; lower for viewing the river-ride scenery.
There is little chance of motion sickness, as the eatery moves so slowly. If you do have
a concern, the upper level happens rarely.

NOTE1: The buffet is reasonably priced for a Disney park eatery. The selection
could be more varied, there are menu items for most tastes. Although Americanized,
the dishes do have an African flair. The dinner almost always is not crowded and has
room for walk-ups. There are at least four-to-five really good vegetarian options on
the buffet. No characters at dinner, and almost always good for all of the walk-ups
without an ADR. Be prepared for a VERY loud environment.

NOTE2:There have been some menu alterations, of which I am personally disappointed.
The seasoned beef carving station now has ordinary beef, and not spicy or seasoned.
Chicken Curry has little curry and is VERY mild; cucumber & tomato salad is something
one can find on any home table. On the plus side; the bread pudding is still to-die-for
and the chocolate cookies are still soft and ooey-gooey. But, overall, still one of the
best buffet meals at WDW, especially for the price (or, at least until characters start
during the dinner and the prices leap upward).

Rusty you give some great reviews!

I am so excited that we found an ADR yesterday for Garden Grill! We have been looking for months and finally got one. I have never been to Tusker House but I hear the breakfast is wonderful.

Tusker House - Donald, Daisy, Mickey, Goofy.

Garden Grill - Mickey, Pluto, Chip & Dale

We enjoyed both, but overall I enjoyed Tusker House better. Garden Grill seemed to be very average buffet food & selection. It was meat and potatoes the same as you could get anywhere else, but Tusker house had some delicious options that were not run of the mill.

I did enjoy being served at the table at Garden Grill, but not enough to make me rush back.

We are planning on going to Tusker House again on our next visit.

I would go with Garden Grill. We enjoyed the character interaction. They came around twice during the meal. Being seated in the booth was like being the only people in the restaurant.

Tusker House breakfast was good as well.

I enjoyed the family style meals more than the buffets because I wore myself out trying to sprint to the buffet & make it back before the characters got there.

We have been to garden grill many times, this past week we were at Tusker for lunch. It was wonderful. My daughter's loved it The food was really good, and the characters came by twice and were very helpful with different poses, and lots of interaction.

We enjoy both places. Tusker House is a buffet with Donald, Mickey, Goofey, Daisy. I can't remember is pluto was there but I'm pretty sure Minnie wasn't. Garden Grill is Family Style. You get a platte brought out to the table for all to share. Chip, Dale, Mickey, & Pluto have been there when we went. I prefer the family style meals more than buffets, but of course buffets has more to try.
