Someone pointed out on another thread I'm following the Tusker House is now showing as requiring 2 DDP credits for lunch and supper. Checked myself and can confirm this. I booked it at our 180 day mark when it was only 1 credit. If it stays at 2 I'll be cancelling and hoping to snag a FP for Jungle Book (or Rivers of Lights - whatever is showing) when we go. I don't mind using 1 dining credit but it's not worth 2 to us.

This has not been confirmed. A few of us called and CMs said 1 credit for each. Someone even booked a dummy ADR and it reflected 1 credit. Hopefully it's just a website issue. If it turns out to be true, I'll be canceling, but let's not panic until we're sure.

It's a glitch. Check the brochure. Don't freak out. It's still one credit.

I'm sure it's a glitch, as I don't think Disney would do something like that in the middle of the year, given their contracts are for year to year.

That said, it wouldn't surprise me if somewhere down the road, Disney went to 2 credits for all character meals...at least at dinner.

Would certainly de-value the dining plan for those who like it for character meals.

No one knows if this is a glitch (it would be a deliberate one to change those areas of the website or possibly a test of reactions) or this is something that is happening.

Since right now no one knows for sure, I would highly suggest anyone with ADRs at these restaurants make alternative plans, even with a second email address, until this has been clearly straightened out before their trip.

Brochure was printed 6 months ago, is not a contract and can change since they have all the legal wordage they need to work around any changes. "Operating hours, menus, entertainment, Characters, Disney Dining Plan locations, components and terms are subject to change without notice."

This is not out of the range of possibilities given the current climate at Disney to raise prices, add extra charge events and reduce some services. Just the fact that Tusker House now offers a show/dining package that could be very popular, that Frozenland is going to be a sea of humanity and well, Chef Mickey's continues to stay booked (I don't know how).

Le Cellier got bumped to 2 credits because of popularity, why wouldn't some others due to their demand?

True? - no one knows yet since it just happened, and if it just happened and the CMs are saying it's wrong, why hasn't it been fixed already? Time will tell but I for one will not be surprised.

Hi there @scrappinginontario! Is there no chance this is a glitch? I'm really hoping... Hehe

I would love for it to be a glitch but I'm guessing more and more it isn't as the changes are not consistent across the locations that have been changed. Tusker House and Akershus are currently showing Lunch and Dinner requiring 2 DDP credits.

Chef Mickey's was also changed but only Dinner went to 2 credits. Breakfast and Brunch remains as 1.

Changes like these to a website do not happen accidentally. The code to change them need to go through many pre-production environments. There is a chance this is a 'Disney leak' to guage reaction and get people talking. have a feeling it's going to be coming if not now then in the near future. :(

Agree. To have these specific meals changed on the website, took a deliberate process. Now why they did it, we don't know. Maybe it's true. Maybe they wanted to test reactions. Maybe they were working through some stuff for later and didn't fix it back before it showed up. Whatever happened, the fact that it was so selective tells me it was done on purpose for whatever reason.

I can absolutely see these specific meals going to 2 credits due to the AK Dining Package, the anticipated Akershus crowds and Chefs is just always booked.

When was Le Cellier changed to 2 TS? Was that done intra-year or did that happen with the new year? Never paid much attention since it's not one we have tried yet.

Wow we are booked for all 3 of those and will have to totally change plans if they all change to 2 credit meals :(

It was years ago, I have no idea of the timing.

I totally get being upset, I would be too. In some ways it makes no sense, but in others it makes perfect sense. To say that it can't happen mid-year, if Disney has proven anything in last year is that all bets are off. Ticket prices were the first to go all over the place and we surely haven't seen the end of that. Hours changes are coming at very last minute - hurting the ability to plan, but clearly there is lots of components going in to their hour decisions. Quite of few misses on opening dates for multiple things so they haven't got their stuff together there. They seem to be all about asking forgiveness after these days.

Right now there are restaurants that have seasonal pricing. Major changes in pricing usually happens in October, but I believe we saw some big jumps long after that this year. Credits are different, but I can see changes coming. The DDP seems to keep growing in popularity and if they are going to keep doing Free Dining, it will impact the end line.

Answered in other thread but will post it here too. Le Cellier dinner went signature in mid-2011. Le Cellier lunch went signature 1/1/2013.

But when we made the reservation, we had to check off that little box that says we understand the terms or whatever and one of those terms is that it's a 1 credit meal. Wouldn't they have to stick to that for those of us who already made ADRs?

Posted this in the news/rumors section, but I just got off the phone with disney regarding this since I have dinner reservations with both Akershus and Tusker House, but the first cast member I spoke to stated her system was showing both these restaurants (as well as Chef Mickeys) were showing dinner as 2 credits. I was transferred to another cast member who then told me that these restaurants are 2 credits only during the Thanksgiving season and that for our reservations in September they should only be 1 credit. I really hope this is true as I would hate to be surprised when we get there.

So now we have CMs say it hasn't changed at all, it has changed and it has only changed for Thanksgiving. The slippery slope has begun.

We have Akershus dinner booked for two weeks from today. My email confirmation states 1 credit. Does this hold any value if they really have changed it?

well the holiday thing would explain the "glitch" - not really a glitch but not true for everyone - the cash prices are higher on holidays, I guess I can see why they would charge more credits on holidays. Though I think if they do it just for the holidays this year it may be the norm for next year.

I only have TH breakfast booked and I think it's still only $30 for this one? there is no way they could justify 2ts for a $30 meal.

I just called too as we have chef and akershus for our August trip. Was transferred to a second person who told me they are one credit. I told her she should report it to the tech team since it is showing as two on the dining website. I then went in and started booking another random chef reservation for dinner on a night in August and when you get to the screen where it asks for your credit card I clicked at the accepted dining plans link on that page corner and it did say one credit

I agree with Hopperfan....very slippery slope

IMO, this is not an "accident", if the site is showing 2 credits, then it was deliberately set up to do so. Now whether or not it was intentionally premature to release that code change to the public (as one poster suggested, to gauge reaction) or whether it was accidentally done, who knows, but either way I do think it's a sign of things to come.

I would not be surprised at all to see some of the hardest to get places go to 2 credits, especially character meal dinners. Over time, they either need to keep increasing the price of the dining plan to align with the costs of their restaurants, or leave the cost of the plan the same, but increase the number of credits used. They are probably thinking the latter is more palatable to people.

As usual, who knows? We wait and see....
