Tusker House Now 2 Credits for Lunch and Supper

Someone else posted this too, but if you look on the details of each of these three, they are listed as a part of the Disney Dining on Thanksgiving Day event. If you try and book on Thanksgiving Day, the entitlement is 2 credits, if you try a different day its only one!

This would make more sense of the 'glitch' if that is what they are calling it. Justifiable in that it is how it is actually being handled by the system, but not advertised.

I can't believe there is availability at any of these on thanksgiving day to try it out even!

So could the "glitch" be that it was only supposed to increase to 2 credits for Thanksgiving day special dining and went much wider than that?

On the UK site-practically all ts meals state deluxe plan for 2017-I contacted wdw UK and they stated the dining plan will remain the same as this year
And gave no explanation as to why this 'glitch ' is listed...

That would certainly make the 'glitch' somewhat justifiable and easily explained as an 'IT error'.

Unknown right now, could go either way. IF ITS TRUE ... I think it depends on the goal. Is it to reduce demand? then you have to raise the price so OOP seems high OR is it to reduce the use of DDP there to maybe push DDP users to other less full restaurants while paying OOP there? Everything Disney does is strategic, so if this is true they have a purpose and we will have to wait and see.[/QUOTE]

Thanks for the reply, I guess we will wait and see.

I literally just reserved a Tusker House lunch for September a few minutes ago. My e-mail confirmation states that it will be 1 TS credit, and when I click the Dining Plan link on the confirmation it says 1 credit. I know anything can change at any time, but hopefully it means 1 credit for now.

I just checked the Disney website and it shows Chef Mickey's to be 2 credits for dinner only, while Tusker House and Akershus is 2 credits for both Lunch and Dinner. It says nothing about this being for Thanksgiving only. Seems pretty permanent to me instead of just a glitch.

Tusker House is back showing 1 credit for all meals.
Thanks! Akershus and Chef Mickey's too.

Now the question is....when will Disney officially make these changes that were visible for the past 24 hours? My guess is it's in the works and this was one of those things put out there to gauge reaction. I give it mere months until these changes are made permanently....but I would love to be proven wrong on this one!! :)

I'm sure it's a glitch, as I don't think Disney would do something like that in the middle of the year, given their contracts are for year to year.

That said, it wouldn't surprise me if somewhere down the road, Disney went to 2 credits for all character meals...at least at dinner.

Would certainly de-value the dining plan for those who like it for character meals.

Yes it certainly would devalue a plan that is already iffy at best. Once character meals are increased to 2 credits, I think those of us who are on the cusp will have no choice but to scrap the plan and pay OOP. For us cheapskates, that means a lot less money generated for DIsney.

Agree. To have these specific meals changed on the website, took a deliberate process. Now why they did it, we don't know. Maybe it's true. Maybe they wanted to test reactions. Maybe they were working through some stuff for later and didn't fix it back before it showed up. Whatever happened, the fact that it was so selective tells me it was done on purpose for whatever reason.

I can absolutely see these specific meals going to 2 credits due to the AK Dining Package, the anticipated Akershus crowds and Chefs is just always booked.

I tend to agree. I think that that Disney may try to cash in of the new packages and attactions. I do think this will be an error on Disney's part.

If all the character meals went to 2 credits the dining plan i don't think the dining plan would be worth it anymore. I think they should leave it like it is they already raised the price enough for the dining plan

Yes.

Well, that's subjective. If the price of the dining plan is still at the point where some people are coming out better buying it, then from Disney's viewpoint, the price is not high enough yet.

I think that as long as it is even a slight savings, people will continue to puchase it. WHen folks do, and the package is paid in advance, they have committed at least a specific amount of money to Disney dining. If DIsney determines that any savings to their consumers is a mistake and then make additional changes to reduce even that slight savings, they chance many more of us choosing the OOP route. Now I have posted why I am not a candidate for even the gift card savings account method of dining because I am wicked cheap when I look at prices for more than a day or two. I can gaurantee DIsney will loose a sure thing if they remove any incentive to yu the plan I am not the only one who money conscious on vacation.

Could this not just be testing for a future change? Like they did with Rivers of Light dinner packages, etc?

We don't really know at this point but if I were to guess I'd say 'yes', these changes are in the making, just not announced yet.

I would bet this wasn't a glitch. It was something that is in their system for the future and got pushed out accidentally.

Probably due to popularity they will increase them to 2 Table Service credits later this fall.

Which means the cash cost will go up too and to me that is shocking.

I ate at Tusker House for late (4:00PM-ish) lunch in Oct. of 2014 (not even two years ago) .. and I paid $35/adult. Expensive? Sure . .but it was worth it to my wife and I because it was a character meal for my son and it was a darn good buffet with lots of different food. Delicious after a long day at AK. Two years later ... I can't imagine spending near $50 for the same experience. I simply couldn't swallow it (pun intended).
