lol...

Pathetic.

Sorry to be "negative"...but the truth leaves me no choice here...

Are we ready to ditch the damn dining plan yet? It's not worth it...it's just a prepayment plan at retail.

Wow, that's unbelievable. They've turned the dining plan from a bargain to a total rip-off. So if you figure the DDP is $64 per person per day, and say you get $25 worth of food from a QS meal (a stretch), and $5 for your snack, that means Tusker House, Akershus and Chef Mickey's will now cost you $68 to eat at on the dining plan - and "only" $40 - 45 if you pay cash.

It's time for people to stop accepting these screw jobs from Disney - be aware of costs and STOP purchasing the dining plan!

What people are willing to pay for these things is becoming embarrassing.

And to @disneydad1000 that hopes they were grandfathered in - sorry, you aren't. Time to use those dining credits elsewhere.

It's been spiraling down hill for at least 5 years...

I priced it recently and kicked it around...

It just doesn't wash...you have to order right to left and gorge yourself just to "recoop the value"...which means your overpaying/overeating what you may not want.

Apparently these changes have not yet been given to the CMs dealing with the dining calls. She was completely unaware of the change and had to go online to see what it was I was speaking of. Their latest info on dining credits which apparently is only very recent does not reflect these changes.

The lady I spoke with said if your confirmation states one TS credit, then that is what will be charged. I will be bringing copies just in case.

She also said official updates will be disseminated on the Disney Parks Blogs.

So who knows if this is indeed an official change - no one seems to know much about it.

What?!?! So angry they change after we already made plans and have an ADR

When did this happen?
It lists as one on the 2016 dining plan pdf still

They have themselves protected, they can change at any time.

"Operating hours, menus, entertainment, Characters, Disney Dining Plan locations, components and terms are subject to change without notice."

If true, I would be shocked to see Disney Parks Blog come out and publicize negative news. They never came out said they increased prices across the board at many restaurants by a substantial percentage.

I just went on Disney Mom's Panel and said we had booked Tusker months ago at our 180 day mark and I was wondering if they are honoring my reservation with 1 credit or are they going to charge us 2 ..if 2 NO WAY!! Just hoping they respond, I called disney earlier but was on hold for 30 minutes could not wait anymore.

Never trust the Mom's Panel. Disney does not support nor back up their comments. They tend to be wrong - a lot!

"The views expressed in the Panel are those of the panelists, who are independent contractors. These views are not intended to reflect the opinions of Disney Destinations, its affiliates, its management, its agents or its employees and have not been reviewed or approved by Disney Destinations prior to posting."

GLITCH?
It would be a strange glitch that went in to just three restaurants and strategically changed credits for specific meals and specific plans. Not across the board at many restaurants or within the ones as would one expect from a glitch. Someone went in and changed these. And they are three restaurants that right now due to a dining package and the new popularity of Frozenland and well, who knows why Chef Mickey is always packed .... they very well could warrant due to demand just like when Le Cellier changed due to demand.

Also just because your email confirmation says something it isn't a guarantee. The worst was when the whole system was erased a few years ago. People lost everything! Then since everything got rebooked Disney basically said sorry nothing we can do.

Apparently they will honour these confirmations. In the details, mine specifically states 1 entitlement per meal. I'm making sure I have them all copied and clipped with my clipping tool and into a Word document as back up. Ridiculous this is taking place part way through a year. Just because they have their butts covered with an all-inclusive statement, doesn't mean they SHOULD do that to guests.

Was told by Disney ..only jungle book package is 2 dining credits..she said that since we are not doing that we are charged only 1 credit.

That might make sense BUT mine is FOR the Jungle Book package and mine is coming up one entitlement - and apparently they will honour it.

Also, if you just looking under Tusker House details for the Dining Plans - it is showing 2 TS credits for lunch and dinner - non-specific to the Jungle Book - which really doesn't state anything either way.

Also, this doesn't relate in anyway to the changes at Chef Mickey or Akershus.

I think there are a lot of confused Cast Members right now.

Sigh.

It'll be up to management. Sadly phone CMs are no better than the mom's panel. If it is a fight you want to take on then go for it but if this indeed changed then they may not honor it and you'll have to take it up with the manager.

I do expect if this change is real then those who have reservations booked with get an email but you never really know.

I agree. You never do know. I will lean towards them trying to make it right. As I already have a confirmation - but I will be confirming that only one entitlement per person is removed that day. :) Hopefully this is all just some misunderstanding anyways since no one seems to have a clue what is happening and their updates to dining plans which are only a few days old, I was told, did not list any of this information.

I bet this has to do with the fact that tusker house is a dining package for the jungle book show and eventually rivers of light. I am surprised though that it would be two credits without the dining package. Are we positive this just isn't a website glitch? It's funny too that the 2017 deluxe plan shows it as one credit and not two.
The website also shows that in 2017 a Be Our Guest dinner (not breakfast or lunch) will require 1 Deluxe Dining meal entitlement as minimum entitlement. True? Seems strange.

I hope this is a website glitch but they have been increasing the price of food so often I bet it is accurate. Guess I will add Akershus and Chef Mickeys to the list of restaurants that I will never eat at again. Kinda sucks because my kids like those. Is Cinderellas royal table going to 3 credits next?

Really eh? When you compare these that potentially might become 2 TS with those that ARE 2 TS - it's often quite a difference... I mean Chef Mickey's or California Grill? REALLY???

Also, you can get the JB package for breakfast at TH (I have one booked for July) so seems weird that the reasoning for 2 credits is JB when you can get JB package at only 1 credit for one meal

Also also, considering the less than stellar reviews for JB seems like a really bad PR move to start charging more for this show

Can't you pay OOP? We learned years ago paying for the DDP is a ripoff. If you have free dining you can still pay OOP at those places and have extra credits to use at one they jacked up to 2, or one that was already 2 that you had to avoid because you wouldnt have enough credits for.

This is what I don't get...

That dining plan is NOT mandatory. Why do people say "guess I can't eat there anymore..."

It's like Stockholm syndrome.

People buy the plan so their dining expenses are somewhat capped at Disney. Disney has everyone plan 180 days in advance and people have budgeted x amount for their trip. When you think you are using your plan for specific meals and the terms change it alters your plans and budget.

Everyone seems a little
Panicked, but I'm willing to bet these changes don't take effect until 2017.

Except the DP costs more than OOP, set money in gift cards and dont feel the need to gorge yourself on time wasting sit down meals and the top priced stuff you maybe wouldn't have eaten. Easier and cheaper ways to budget than DDP.
