We have an ADR for 8:20 for the character breakfast at Tusker House. Will that give us plenty of time to get to Everest at park opening (9:00)? We can eat fast, if we need to. I was mostly wondering if 8:20 reservation times usually have to wait to be seated.

Thanks.

We ate at Tusker House on August 3rd. We had an 8:30 reservation and were seated pretty quickly. I think we may have waited about 5 minutes, if it was even that long.

As long as you are seated fairly quickly you should be okay. If nothing else, you should have a great head start. :goodvibes

...I have a question about Tusker House Breakfast...

We're going for the first time during our September trip and I was wondering what the food is like and the character interaction. It'll be only adults in our party.

Thanks!

The food is very good...The selection is large and set up in stations of hot and cold foods...There are many traditional breakfast choices and some different things that we have not seen before...But it is not "African" food for sure...The character interaction is good not great....They all come to the table but they stay long enough just to take a pic and get an autograph...We like the African-marketplace theming...We do not like that the tables are very close together and the noise level is very high...We will go back again because the food is good and we like being in the park before it is open...

We were seated right away and were there for about 45 minutes....The characters came to our table very quickly...But you may have to wait for them...That has happened at many character meals....I can remember several times being done with our meal but all the characters did not come to our table yet...So you may have to skip a character if you are pressed for time...If you eat through the parade you can be out faster...When we ate at the other Donald's we had a "runner" go get FP for EE and went on the safari first....We like going on the safari first because the animals are so active first thing in the morning....But you can get to EE quickly if you head straight there after you eat...

You should be okay on time but it will be tight ;)

We were just at Tusker House last week. Even if you have an early reservation you cannot walk around the park freely until opening. They have ropes up to keep you in a certain area until 9:00 so you cannot get to Expedition Everest early. We could not even get a fast pass for the Safari before opening. All ropes are dropped at the same time and there is usually alot of people waiting.

Enjoy your breakfast and at 9:00 just send one family member back to Everest to get fastpasses for everyone. I know it's a walk but my DH didn't mind. We did this for the safari and when breakfast was done we walked right on.

:) Great tips here...I forgot to mention about the ropes...

The location for Tusker is great to go on the safari first because it is so close...We also send someone (DH) for the EE FP because of the location...My DH did mind either and it worked out great!

We just want to make rope drop. Where is the rope drop for people eating at Tusker House?

The characters here were okay. They stopped for pictures and that's about it (we're a group of 2 adults too). That's okay because that's all we wanted. I got the feeling they were rushed even though we had a later seating at 10:30 AM. I think some of the tables with families were a little disappointed because it seems like they wanted more than 1 picture and the characters rushed off before they could ask.

This is my very first post:cool1:

I am going to be visiting Disney with my family from Jan 3rd to Jan 7th and staying at the AKL. AK has EMH on Mon Jan 4th. I want to go on the safari first thing and then have breakfast at Tusker house buffet. What time should I make my ADR for Tusker house? Or is it better to get a fastpass for the safari, then eat, and then go on the safari? Please can you help me plan the timing of these two?

Another option would be to skip the tusker house ADR, and not plan ahead which morning we're going to AK in case of rain on mon morning. Then we could go another morning it is supposed to rain that day. Which sounds better to you: ADR or no ADR?

Thank you! (btw, I love reading everyone's posts!):yay:

Tuskar House is my moms favorite Character Meal... well she loves them all, but she really really enjoyed this one. We actually got in a little before our reservation time in March. We spent awhile eating though so we could meet all the characters. They each spent a good bit of time at our table. We had 2 adults and 2 children. We will be eating there again in November...WAIT this month!!! YEAH!!!

As for riding the Safari first then eating... I would make it for a later breakfast... I guess as late as you could just because the safari does take awhile, and you really don't want to chance missing it. That is just my 2 cents, of course I am no expert. I know that I just wouldn't enjoy the safari if I was worried about missing Tuskar House... then again I am a worrier. hahaha

I would make an ADR for 9:00 - 9:15 somewhere in there. Have one member of the party get FP for the Safari while the rest of the gang is getting seated (that is assuming you're not interested buying in their photo taken by the wall - it's not a wow IMO). Specifically I'm suggesting split up before you enter the restaurant line so the person who gets the FPs misses very little (if any) of the action.

I just changed my ADR to 8:05 am so we will hopefully be finished eating by the time the park opens at 9:00. The only bad part is that the bus does not run that early so we have to take a taxi to AK for AKL. But that might be a good thing not having to fight for a seat on the bus.
