Hey All,
I am 18 years old and will be making a solo trip to Animal Kingdom next month. I had dinner at Yak & Yeti with my family a couple years ago, and it was great. I love the food there. This time I want to try Tusker House as well, and also plan to go back to Yak & Yeti. However my question is, which one for lunch and which one for dinner?

Right now I have ADR's for Lunch at Tusker House and a late dinner at Yak & Yeti after Rivers of Light. But I could switch them because there are still plenty of ADR's open. By the way is Tusker House even good and worth trying? I really do like African/Mediterranean food so the menu really appeals to me. I remember a few years ago Character dining at TH was only for breakfast and lunch. Have they changed that now? Does TH do characters at dinner as well? It doesn't say specifically but I thought I read somewhere that they do characters at all meals now. The character dining isn't that important to me, but it would be fun (I mostly want to try TH for the food).

I also believe prices at TH for lunch and dinner are the same, correct? By the way what are the prices like there? I read on allears its around $37 including tax for the buffet. I don't really want to spend more then $45 for TH. Same for lunch and dinner, but is that old possibly?

The reason why I kind of chose to make ADR's that way for the time being was because I don't eat breakfast food, and I kind of felt having a lunch buffet would be good (also just in case characters are not there at dinner), then I could relax at Y&Y after a long day at the park for dinner. Also due to how I plan to do the whole park regarding what areas I plan to be in at those times. Please let me know if you prefer it the other way around.

Tusker House is the best character meal anywhere on property in my opinion. Even before it was a character meal it was my second favorite restaurant after Boma. It is the only character meal I can think of where the food is actually a forethought instead of the sideshow to the characters.

Personally I would keep it and maybe try a new place like the Nomad Lunge. I think you can eat there even under 21.

I think if you want something more relaxing at the end of the day, I would stick to the TH lunch. I find buffets, particularly character buffets, a bit chaotic. We really like TH. My DH isn't really a "character meal" kind of guy and he still loves it because the food is so good. Y&Y after ROL is a great idea, IMHO. It's really close and will be much more relaxing. Nomad Lounge, as PP suggested, is also excellent for drinks and small plates (yes, you can be under 21 there and they have delicious "mocktails"!), but it will be a bit further from ROL.

Well I prefer to just stick with Y&Y. I love Yak & Yeti. They have great food and I want to go there again. Also I am a big eater, so Nomad Lounge is not for me. Although I was thinking of getting a few rides on Everest in the dark after ROL but before dinner at Y&Y.

I wouldn't do both in the same day unless you're a big eater or planning on just eating light at Y&Y. I would choose Tusker over Y&Y for myself.

We just tried Tusker House for our first time a few weeks ago & thought it was just ok. I"m not sure we would go back. Aside from 1-2 dishes, we found the food to be nothing special & not a huge variety. Layout of the restaurant was a bit awkward and chaotic and the characters were rushed and impersonal. It took over 30 minutes to be seated.

We are longtime fans of Boma, which has a similar cuisine, and Tusker House seemed to be a cheaper and lower quality version of Boma.

I would never do two TS meals in one day (unless you were doing breakfast TS, skip lunch, dinner TS). Our next trip to DAK, I think we will stick to our old plans of staying in the park till 5:30ish & then take a bus to AKL to go to Boma. The zebra domes dessert are worth the trip alone!

That sounds awesome! I think you have a great plan!

I am probably arguably the biggest eater on the DIS. I ate 8 full plates of food at Biergarten a couple years ago. And when I mean full, I mean to the point where things are starting to drip off the plate.
