Turning blue in WDW

Just a quick tip/warning. Those pretty blue plastic bags that the store gives you your merchandise in do not mix well with sunscreen! After a few hours carrying one (putting it on my lap and behind my legs on rides, etc), I looked down to find my legs covered with blue spots! I am very fair, so my "smurf transformation" was very noticeable. The bright side?...hubby who does not use sunscreen on his legs got the honor of carrying all shopping bags for the rest of the trip!

Wow. Ya know, I'd be pretty leary about smearing a chemical on my skin that demonstrably dissolved a plastic bag!

What brand and SPF of sunscreen were you using?

coppertone spf30 (it was oneof those clear aerosol sprays)

If the plastic bags haven't changed since last year I had a similar problem but it was with the dye used to print the image on the bag, not with the bag dissolving. We were there in September and it was still pretty hot. The palms of my hands were moist from persperation and this broke down the black ink on the bags so I wound up with black marks on my hands. It came off pretty easily, but it left me to wonder what kind of dye was being used to color the bags.

I had the same problem, but it was on the palms of my hands from holding the bag.

It's the ink in the bag, not the sunscreen. We carried two bags in the rain, and we both ended up with blue ink on our hands and legs (where the bag rubbed).

I had this problem also. My hands were very dry so I applied hand cream. An hour later noticed the red/black ink on my hands from the bag. The next store we went to I asked the CM if they had bags that were not colored or if they had paper bags? no and no. I was kindof disappointed. They should consider using paper shopping bags with handles since it seems like a number of people have this problem. I guess another option is to pick up the bag at the front gate before leaving or have it sent to the hotel. We did not do either of these because we were leaving the park before it would be delivered to the front gate and leaving WDW before it would be at our hotel.

I had to add to this...I tattooed the map to me! I have fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and so I have to be in a wheelchair for the parks. I put sunscreen on my legs because I am so fair and burn very easily. Well, when we got there I had just put more on, and mom left to make a quick bathroom break (her first "attraction" of every visit ). I had the map on my lap I guess, and when I lifted it my friend realized I had the map tattoed to me! It was the Magic Kingdom map! I guess it was a good way to not lose the map!

Only problem with that is, you have to carry a mirror around all day to read it because it gets reversed when it transfers!
