We are planing a trip to Celebrate DD's 3rd Birthday. I was wondering if we do the trip May 12 - 18, her bday is the 16th do we need to buy her a ticket for those 3 days she would be 3? Or even if we go before I brought a shirt that says 3 and if she gets asked she will say 3. Will I have to pay for her at buffet resturants?? Even if we decided to go before her bday will I be questioned? I'm just worried that even if she is still 2 (by a few days) people will think I am trying to get away with something and I'm not. I want to follow the rules that's why I am asking before we plan the exact dates. (We are DVC members and DH and I will have AP which I dunno if that makes a difference but just making sure.)

If you child is 2 upon check in, she remains 2 for the duration of the trip in terms of ticketing and room occupancy. Enjoy the last time she will be "free.".

If you are concerned that someone will question or hassle you, either bring a copy of her birth certificate or snap a pic of it with a cell phone camera.

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards App, please excuse any typos.

This is true. You won't have to pay for park tickets for the whole trip for her.

But, I am not sure about buffets. I would suspect that you will have to pay for a buffet once you turn three, but someone may correct me.

I was thinking the same thing, too, but didn't know for sure. Not that I will ever have a 2/3 year old again, but I am curious as to the answer!

If you are on the Dining plan, you won't be expected to pay. If you aren't, it becomes more of a grey area. Some would say that no, since she is considered still 2 for tickets/room, that she shouldn't have to pay for food for the entire trip. Others would say that rules are rules and she should be charged for her meals once she turns 3.

I don't think Disney has a specific official policy concerning meals in a situation like this, and the "2 for the whole trip" rule could be interpreted both ways concerning buffets. OP, I say do what feels comfortable for you.

Disney does not penalize children for growing up. As long as the child was under three at the date of check-in, they are considered "under 3" for all park admission and dining during that trip.

Thank you everyone you definitely made me feel so much better!!! We will definitely be going the week of DD's Birthday and will celebrate her birthday there!!!! :)
