my sisters friend logs on and it gets past the VMK logo but then says:
im sorry this account cannot be accessed on the computer

can anyone shed some light on this scenario?

I think she needs to get the EXACT messages to you, can she just post here? screen shots would be helpful too. but if not, they need to know exactly what all the error messages are or nobody is going to be able to help.

If you truly believe that the computer or vmk player has not been banned, there are a few options for you.

1) Make sure the screen colors on the computer are set to 32K. I found one computer that crashed at the point you mentioned because it was set at 16K. You can change this setting by right-clicking on your desktop and by selecting Properties. On the Settings tab, choose the highest Color Quality allowed.

2) Try reinstalling shockwave. Go here: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/ and click on the Install Now button.

3) If the computer has a gray case, or if the keyboard has black keys, you may find success by lighting a candle in the room and saying the following chant: "Mekaleka High, Meka Chani Ho". Say it ten to twenty times and you'll be good to go.

Could the error message be "Address Violation at...", if so it could be a hardware problem. I had a machine that started to get this error and running a memory diagnostic indicated bad memory, replaced the module and the error went away. It could also be software so all the usual suggetions apply, clear cache, cookies temp files, uninstall and reinstall shockwave.

Do all the other programs work ok?

Yes, an access violation is almost always some kind of memory issue. Only very rarely is it hardware related though. She probably is just running too much on the computer. If she is a child... no help can be given. Her parents need to deal with the issue. If they ask, I will help. Other than that....

The best way to completely refresh vmk is to delete your temporary files. In explorer use the Tools menu to choose Delete Browsing History. Choose Delete All but beware this will reset your forms and password data. Be sure to check the box next to Delete files and settings stored by addons (shockwave, flash, etc).

You can also delete your computers temp folder files for better computer performance. In Windows Explorer open %temp% and remove all files not modified today (sort by date).
