call me crazy but is hotel turndown service where the maid just turns down your bed (folds down the blankets?)

sorry its a silly question but another thread mentioned it....i just wanted to be clear

Thanks

Hi laurfisher ,

The housekeeper comes in, folds down the blankets and sheets, arranges the pillows, and usually leaves some small treat. In my experience at Disney's WL, mint chocolates were also left, along with an American Indian proverb card each night. Towel animals and dolls were also arranged on the bed, and our lamp was turned on for us.

In some other exclusive hotels, in addition to the above mentioned first sentence, the houskeeper will also place slippers next to the bed, lay out your robe, dim lights, put soft music on, and draw the curtains.

I hope this answers your question.

Yes, and if you stay concierge, you'll get little chocolates on your pillow...yum....!

You get this with non-concierge too :). In fact, each night we received more chocolates than the night before :cloud9: .

Here's a picture of our turn-down. We moved the towel dolls/animals to the other bed.

With Disney turn down, towels that may have been used during the day are replenished, along with toiletries. Trash is emptied and any room service items acquired during they day are removed. Covers are turned back and depending on the resort, you'll receive a small good night poem in addition to some chocolate mints or other treats on your pillow. If I've left out my night clothes, then I have found them arranged nicely and waiting for me. The tv or radio is left on, playing softly in the background and a light is left on to welcome you home. You may receive a little extra with the arrangement of your childrens stuffed toys, or perhaps a towel creation, but this is all above and beyond the standard service that's provided.

Thank you for answering my question. I thought there had to be more to turndown service than just "folding the blankets down nicely". At first I thought
"whats the big deal?" but now I can see that it just adds more magic to the trip and worth it.

so now I have another question: I am staying at POP in a few weeks

now can I just say that I would like turn down service every night or each individual day do I request it?

Thanks again.............any suggestions to make a 7 yr old's first trip a truely magical one is always welcome!!!

Have a happy day

I'd also like to know if you have to request it daily (for that night) or if you can simply state at check-in that you want to have it for the duration of stay.

Also...for those of you requesting turndown service do you tip more than normal? Is it a separate tip from the housekeeping tip or one in the same?

Thanks!

2 times on our last trip (we stayed the CSR) our bed was turned down. I thought this was cool considering they don't have turn-down service there that I am aware of. Our bed looked like this pic, minus the chocolates.

Sorry, but turn down service is only offered at the Disney deluxe resorts.

I know the GF does it automatically, but I'm not sure of the other deluxes. You can either arrange for it daily through your check-in CM or simply call housekeeping from your room phone. It's normally offered between 5:15 and 9:45pm, so you can select a time that's the most convenient for you.

As for tipping, I don't leave as much as morning housekeeping, because there's less involved with turndown. I usually leave out $1 per bed, or a $2 minimum. I set up seperate envelopes and mark them with each service. For housekeeping, I'll leave that on the vanity in the bathroom and for turn down, I'll leave the envelope on the nightstand next to the bed.

Thanks for all the info. I was wondering what the fuss was all about too :flower:
